Is this a scam? Toy related domestic online purchasing issue

I usually order online direct from Japan for my plastic crack. Never failed since but two days ago, somewhere here on seibertron, I saw a link on domestic USA based (I'm guessing) store (not Hasbro/TRU) which I won't name offering 50% to 60% off for TF related products.

The offer was just too good to be true so I tried ordering them but their system was blocking me with the "email us first for shipping rates". So I emailed them. Response ticket came after like 6 hours that they will get to me soon. Now I checked again and the price of the two items I was interested in are now back to their very expensive price range.

Too good to be true? I had cash to burn but no funds actually left my pocket but what sucks is that, well, why offer it if you don't want to sell it in the first place?

Next time I'll stick to my JP sources (despite some language barriers, they really deliver.......even replacement parts like the issue I had with my munkee)

Not sure about it being a scam, but it definitely sounds like poor customer service.

If they're serious about running an online business then they SHOULD give you postage rates on the website. If they can't, then they should be answering in less than six hours.

Not really a scam, just very poor class. A scam would be if they quoted you one price and then charged you higher.

What bothers me is when eBay sellers notice one of their items are getting increased attention so they take it down and then relist it at a higher price. Even worse when it's an item that was already discounted and had been for a while, and you keep checking to make sure it's still available, but when you're finally ready to buy it's back up to normal price. :-x

Not an ebay vendor btw. Maybe they, the store, realized they were giving away more than they could chew? 8-}

"email us first for shipping rates"

Are they operating through a time warp from the year 1998? I would never trust a retailer that can't provide simple information like that on their website.
