The 2016 Toy Soul toy show is currently happening in Hong Kong. There is one new Transformers themed reveal at the show and that is the very first licensed Transformers product from Flame Toys: Drift, based on his IDW design. This non transforming figure will be part of Flame Toys' "Kuro Kara Kuri" series. The figure on display is an unpainted prototype and you can see many pictures of it below, which highlight the accessories he comes with, like swords and a cloak. These images comes to us from Tag Hobby.

He's almost Gundam-esque.

Makes sense, the original design in the comics had that same kind of flare.

Off topic, but I'm getting edgy... It's not Christmas until David Kaye sings a Christmas song as Beast Wars Megatron. :PREDACON:

To an extent, yes. But this thing is way more OTT. The crazy-huge and detailed swords, the mile-long legs and massive feet, the exaggerated A-stance and the increase in thickness are all more Gundam-influenced. It's not bad, one of the best things about non-transforming figures is that they can be a lot more stylized, but I feel it kinda detracts from Drift's overall character.

His legs look disproportionately short to me, especially his squat little thighs. Even the art gave him longer legs, I don't know how they got them so short on the figure.

As we continue on with the vast amount of content from Toy Fair 2017, we bring to you a new gallery featuring Flame Toys' IDW Drift statue! Flame Toys based this statue on the first Drift mini-series version of the character after his transition from Deadlock. The character is shown to come with swords (cause, why wouldn't he?) as well as a cloak that he used on a couple of occasions. Check out some sample images below, and head to the full gallery to check out the rest of the images.

Flame Toys 2D Teaser for IDW Tarn

It looks like Flame Toys, the non-transforming Transformers figure licensee behind the extremely IDW accurate Drift, has their next project set up and teased - and it's another big presence in the IDW run of comics, specifically a More Than Meets the Eye character: leader of the Decepticon Justice Division, Tarn! The image was posted by user 断翼华尔兹 (of either Baidu or bilibili location), and may be part of the Drift packaging or promotional material. Check it out below!

It doesn't even transform :BANG_HEAD: ... what is the point? A transformer that doesn't transform isn't a transformer. These are just action figure statues basically.

Let me just say... I completely agree with you.

However, the budget to make some characters transform and look like what people see in the comics would be huge (probably). These are action figure statues, essentially, which is what some people want. As for myself, I'm not highly interested, but I understand the sentiment.

On another note, if extremely media-accurate, articulated, cheap-ish TF models were produced, I think it would be cool.

To be quite honest, if there was any character to get this treatment, Tarn is the perfect choice as I doubt a character as defined by, uh... ahem, violent acts as him would ever get an official transforming toy from Hasbro. Maybe I'm wrong about this but it just doesn't seem like it would be within the realm of possibility -- so this is the closest to an official Tarn as we'd get. Still seems weird when one of his things is that he's literally addicted to transforming, though -- maybe this is his punishment

While there's yet no update on the Tarn figure from Flame Toys based on the IDW More Than Meets The Eye/Lost Light character of the same name and design; we now have a better, clearer look at the teaser for the non-transforming action figure to allow us to look in closer detail thanks to Flame Toys' Facebook page. Though nothing else about Tarn has been revealed as of yet, take a look at the picture below and tell us what you think in the comments!

Lol A non Transforming figure of a Transformer addicted to Transforming.

Oh the irony!

Not saying this is a bad "figure" just taking note of the situation.

Heh heh -- I do love that myself. I'll just envision this as post-transformation cog burnout, pre-Delphi Tarn

I wonder if the size of this layout next to Drift is relative to the actual figure though -- like, if Tarn is that much bigger than Drift as shown here. What size would that make him; Leader? Either way if the price turns out to be low enough, this could be a nice alternative to Kultur if you don't care about transformation and just want a display figure and don't have an awful lot of money. Or if you're just a bit uneasy about third parties to begin with. I wonder if they'll make the rest of the DJD or other IDW-original characters like Rung or Aileron; their focus does seem to be on IDW which would explain why they went with Drift first -- being easily the most well-known IDW-original character :-? Either way this is getting me excited.

Nah I don't buy third party stuff besides reprolables and even then only conversion ones like the Dispensor one since I hate stickers since I have shaky hands/fingers.

Their too expensive as well like the masterpiece figures for something I'm only going to keep on display and sometimes Transform and fiddle with.

Yeah, naturally the price is a huge turnoff -- if I had a ton of disposable income I'd be buying half of MMC's stuff and a ton of Perfect Effect upgrades, but it's simply not an option I have. That's one of the big reasons I'm hoping this'll be relatively cheap besides the obvious; makes it an actual option compared to Kultur.

Of course, if this turns out to be a really expensive statue situation and he's barely cheaper - or, even worse, more expensive - than Kultur, then that's gonna be a huge turn-off when I could just pay a little extra or a little less for a figure that does everything this does but also transforms.

Hopefully though, either way this should reduce the price of Kultur; much like how MP Inferno and Shockwave reduced the price of the many Third Party MP Infernos and Shockwaves.

You're talking about Robot Replicas, or, for those of us who are a little older... [whispers] Action Masters.

This could be a good alternative to Kultur if the figure is attractive and the price is reasonable.

And even though Tarn was addicted to transforming, I can't remember if he actually transformed in MTMTE.

Most of his scenes in the comic were of him torturing his victims physically or mentally - which is why it makes perfect sense for Hasbro to release a toy of him. A family company! :D - so we didn't see it happen an awful lot. The only one I remember was during his fight against Overlord in Dying of the Light.
