I agree. This gives us options.

The 3P guys are there for those who want ones that Transform, but they are more expensive and unlicensed, which is why I haven't bought any.

And while these ones don't Transform, they are official and they are kits, which are really cool, and it helps in the "Attack Mode" and the "IDW" kits to not transform, so they can utilize every ounce of exaggeration in their design, which is awesome to me. I don't mind them not transforming since they are kits.

I really think that should Flame Toys keep going, we could get some more Awesome IDW MTMTE kits, and maybe even start branching out more into kits of the 13. I think this line as the potential to go on for years and give us a lot of cool designs that we have been aching for

My thoughts exactly. These are great products and very fun as well while third party stuff is just too expensive (I understand that they are the price they are for the company to make a living but my budget is my budget), once I can find a good UK supplier for these I plan on filling my boots (I can't remember if Kapow stock these, I'll have to recheck)

I know it's pro Hasbro here that's why 3P got placed in an unearthed corner of the website. Hail Hasbro and hail licenses that give you a basically a Non-Grade Gundam model kit. It would be nice if they could even parts form like 1/144 HGUC Gundam kits do. I have built model kits from multiple series the only exception I make is for Gundam because since 1980 Gundam was always mostly a model kit. I built the Starscream kit its great but its not a transformer. So lets stay off licenses because obviously Hasbro doesn't care as long as it isn't infringing on their IP/design of a character. So lets just say you like licenses and I like my toys to transform because hence the word 'transform'. Have fun kids!!

Sheesh, Will. We're supposed to stop murders, not commit them

I did see a really nice (and surprisingly affordable) Macross model kit that was really articulated and could transform. But I assume since most Transformers need to look a particular way, having them transform without being a shellformer or partsformer would have them lose articulation.

On the subject of 3P, or more precisely, IP-infringing products, I thought Tyranttron had a pretty weak alt mode (Siege Megatron's was better lol), and pretty expensive, so I would much rather get this guy instead

Touche?, no very bright but here I'll make it easier for the cheering squad.

You have a transformer that does not transform.

I have a toy that actually does transform and apparently does it well with better quality and doesn't have a license. I guess you have to talk down to things you cant afford? I'll wait for the comeback.

You cant compare what you don't own. I have them all. Lets see all the problems that Siege Megatron has he is not that high on the list of voyagers, he ranks lower than Starscream who has the faux chest. Umm most reviews of MMCs version are all mostly good so you dont know what you are talking about.

Hey look man, I got no problem with you getting your 3P guys. I'm a fan of the looks but not the buys ok? That subset of the fandom isn't for me really.

And besides, mine doesn't transform, but it'll be fun to build him and pose him to buggery and beyond. I don't mind the non-transforming type whenever they are buildable

Nah I built the Furai Starscream...and I build Gundam like there is no tomorrow. It's just if MMCs version was trash then yeah I would say so but it's not proof is in the want and reviews. I'm not just a 3P guy I'm an all around collector. I go for the best. The kit looks like he stepped of the page of the comic. It will be a hit

Flame Toys IDW Optimus Prime Model Kit Available at Barnes and Noble

Even though obtaining imported products has never been easier these days, some fans still like taking the car, driving around to stores and looking for items there. Well we have good news for them, the Flame Toys Transformers Optimus Prime Model Kit (IDW Version) is available at Barnes and Noble. The bookstore seems to be the main distributor of these kits in the US and continues to stock them as they are released, to a much later date though. We have an image below of this Optimus found in the store. You can also purchase the kit online at the Barnes and Noble website. The figure is $35.99 and features a ton of articulation, rifle, and a choice of six hands.

wasnt this news a couple weeks ago? I got mine 3 weeks ago. Maybe I’m thinking another site. Anywho yeah I got mine and he was a treat to make. Really looking forward to Megatron.

Also he’s way cheaper there! He’s $35 and I think most online stores have him for $40 and ya toss shipping in there over $50. Surprisingly something at Barnes and Noble is cheaper than other places.

Maybe another site. But this isnt really a sighting, its more to let fans know that they are there and that B&N are gonna keep carrying these.

I don’t recall the anime like Optimus but Starscream and IDW Optimus so far have been seen so if people buy them I’m sure they’ll keep ordering them.

I've seen the Attack Optimus kit as well as the others before. No repaints yet tho.

I finally finished assembling my IDW Prime kit, my first Gundam-style model building experience in almost two decades. I bought proper tools and even did some panel lining.

It was very fun, but like Lego it was more fun as an activity than as a product. I'm definitely going to get the IDW Megatron, and I hope to get the Starscream kit to repaint into Slipstream. I'm not sure if I have the skills to repaint, but I'm looking forward to the challenge, and it might be an interim step to custom decos on the Hasbro toys.

Some random notes on the product itself:

1. Glue is definitely recommended for some parts. I'm not planning to pose it too much, but one of his helmet antennae is very loose, and there are other places where glue would help.

2. The stickers detract overall. I used them because there are several places where silver stripes are a major part of the design, but they're too visually loud. This annoys me in part because I spent time trying to make the panels pop and add weathering, but all I can see when I look at it are those stickers.

3. It is a nice companion to the comics. I like the representation, and while transformations are always a nice touch, they're less important in the context of comics than in other media. I'd rather have this than the Legends (Legion?) scale Optimus that has a similar design, and like others, I'm hopeful for Megatron and other comics-inspired characters.

I'll share pictures if I get around to taking them.
