TFsource.com is awesome. Fast shipping. Just buy a small legends and then you get free shipping. Don't search stores for Trypy, just order him, if you want him. I love TFsource.com

I really want to buy him in store so I can return him easily if his QC is bad. :-/

Toys R Us and Think Geek are your best bets for local pickup.

I have one and have played with it often for 2 weeks now with no QC issues.

I think it was only the first run that had the hip problem. I got mine 2 days ago at Toys R Us and have no problems at all.
BTW, if you put him in city mode back to back with his G1 self, also in city mode, it rounds the whole complex out nicely

I'm not sure but I was under the impression that the Amazon pre-orders were for 3rd party sellers.

Already got mine at the Westland MI TRU last week, and they had 2 more when I left this afternoon.

I tried moving the hips once, and it felt so stiff that I didn't dare force it. I removed the springs, which have been compressed in a vice in my basement for about 6 days now.

I'm curious if the compress method works better than the cut spring method. I cut the spings on mine and had no breakage issues, though his hips feel a little looser than I like. That being said, he stands pretty well even with his tail lifted off the ground.

And Full-Tilt rocks.

Toy Dojo has an alternate fix that just 'breaks in' the spring without cutting it. I guess I'm lucky as mine doesn't need it, but it's an option.
Yes, Full-Tilt does rock, and now my TT Wipe-Out has a proper boss.

I'm holding off a little longer on getting Trypticon. Since I'm not getting a Japanese Titan for the first time I don't feel any need to jump in this early. I'm sure they'll still be around until Christmas and the price should come down. Probably wont come down to the temporary lows that Metroplex hit, but any discount will be worth the wait.

I really hope that is the case. I was lucky and got one a few days ago at a local TRU. There were only 2 on the shelf knowing fully that I have interest in the Takara version I quickly bought one on impulse...as I have done many times in the past. :-P

It now sits in the corner starring me down every time I sit across from it...even at this very moment. :BANG_HEAD: :VEHI:

That's the tab that is broken off.

Sorry, I'm still confused. Is there a corresponding tab on the other side or does yours only have 1 tab? The tab that the arrow is pointing at looks the same as my tabs but in a different position.

That may not actually be a tab. Is there a corresponding slot on Trip for such a tab to go into?

To me, mordhelm's pic looks like a sprue trim mark. Yet, I also do not see a corresponding tab or stress marks nearer the end of the ramp as on Seib's Trypt. It could be a "short shot" where not enough plastic was crammed into the mold (or the plastic temp was too low when flowing) and the tabs didn't form.

I'm getting my Trypt next week. When I get him, I'll look at that area and compare it with my plastics molding experience...

Looking again at mine.
I can confirm that is not a broken tab, but a sprue trim mark.
Trypticon doesn't have slots for the ramp, but it's hold in place by a some grooves in the tail. If it's loose, try to see if there are screws that may be tightened, or place some nail polish on the grooves

Really looks like the tabs may have been a running change to help secure the ramp. Ryan said the code on his with the tabs is 71461, what's the code for you two without the tabs?

ah I'm sorry, right now I can't help you.
I put the box in my closet, and it's behind basically a lot of stuff. It's kinda hard to me to get it right now.
Is there a way where can I see the code in another place?
If it's in the instruction sheet I can look at it more easily.

Absolutely a sprue trim mark, but mine seems to be held in place solely by pressure. I don't see any grooves on mine

I haven't checked mine closely yet, but so far I haven't noticed the tail piece tabbing in anywhere. It does stay in perfectly well just with friction though, it seems. I'll confirm the presence/absence of tabs, and find the batch number, on mine when I get home. I would assume also that my first Trypticon would be the same (presumably same batch, and the tail functioned exactly the same way as this one - whatever way that actually is).

Saw some at a local TRU but they are all gone now and nobody else has any. Most likely going to have to pick it up online. My question though would be other than some of the online places mentioned already(I normally use BBTS) where else can you safely go? Is Ebay an option? I see a lot of newer stuff out on Ebay and a lot of it is coming from sellers in China. Some times it's even sellers in the states but it's cheaper than in the store and, at times, much cheaper which screams red flag to me. Even free shipping. I have searched a lot online to see if these types of sellers/products are legit. Why would someone sell something at the same price or cheaper than in the store, and free shipping to boot? But I haven't really found anything.

Really looking forward to getting this figure but I haven't collected for a long while so I wasn't sure if certain places were better to use than others. I'd prefer to make as few mistakes as possible. Any help?

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but the purple barrels on Tryp's towers can extend out. It either can be used to make his skyscrapers bigger or cannons longer.

Yep!

It's a carry over from the original G1 figure that they probably could have skipped and left them long and few would have noticed (espcially judging from all of the gallery where they're either always out or never out).

Ah. I didn't see that in the gallery. Almost no reviewer has discussed them.

For those that are not looking forward to making minor but permanent adjustments to their Titans Return Trypticon, another less invasive method of repair has been identified.

Toy Dojo, via their Facebook page (and YouTube page), has provided a video of how to work Trypticon's hip springs that returns a full range of motion while not requiring any permanent change to the figure.

I personally tested this method. It works, though it took me about twice as long repeating the compression per spring as stated in the video. When reassembled, it did not appear to work right off. I had to get past the 1st notch, then it ratcheted perfectly.

I opened the hips back up to make sure I had not damaged them and everything was fine. There was no hint of damage or warping of the inner cross piece. This method works with some patient testing. We encourage you to try this method before making permanent changes to your Trypticon.

to avoid to do permanent changes, I got a weaker replacement spring.
But I tried this method too, and it looks like it works.

Where'd you find the spring, and what kind was it? I was thinking of doing this, but there's a lot of measurements for springs. Wasn't sure if a hardware store would carry them (haven't checked yet).

I was able to find a suitable spring at Menards if you are in the midwest. I found a single spring that when cut in half works pretty good.
