Just now got to the list, and I have some words not spoken yet.

Despite some real hatred for the mold, I love Fall of Cybertron Grimlock. The dino-mode is really awesome and the robot mode is perfect. I got it when I was still in high school and my mom had no issue with me buying it. It's one of the few transformers she saw and instantly said it was cool and she had no issue with it. it is a great mold to me and lots of fun.

AoE Scorn is my favorite dino-transformer. that mold is awesome and fun and spiky, all of which fall to my favor.

i really want to say AoE Snarl, if only he didn't have wonky arms. But he's still cool.

Titan master Clobber is cute and fun as well. I enjoy that little dude. And the colors work for me. a lot. Ptero is pretty cool too, and makes a great ptero-bow!

Maybe I would include AOE snarl instead of killer-punch

Oh wow, I can only imagine it could get costly to try and hint down Beast Wars Neo figures from Japan -- but AWESOME stuff!

There are some good prices out there if you shop directly from Japan and avoid eBay price gauging. A place like Mandarake is still going to be expensive, but not at all unreasonably so for nearly 20 year-old collectibles.

I have an even better option, you can find them on eBay for really really cheap. For example here is the Takara exclusive stegosaurus and cobra together for 20 bucks US, free shipping.

Cool, I hope you get it, its a good set. I have been meaning to reply ever since i saw your comment about Beast Wars neo figures. The irony is that of all figures from 20 yeas ago, those are by far the most afffordable and many are cheaper now than they were back in the day when people imported them. Its because these same toys were released in Korea as well and they just made too much. I think some warehouses have been found full of em and now they sell em for cheap on e-bay to get rid of them. You can find a few other cheap 2 packs across the internet.

I was wondering why! Thanks for shedding some light on that -- it makes a lot more sense.

Like the list but I think what bugs me as a big dino fan in general is the fact that they have a lot of various dinosaurs they could choose from, even aquatic ones. And yet we never see molds. And kids love dinosaurs so this isn't one of those situations where it's only the older "collectors" going on a rant about something that Hasbro/Takara should have no incentive to make. Mother nature has some pretty wicked natural designs per the fossil record so there is plenty to choose from that could be incorporated into a new comic/cartoon series. Would fall in nicely with the new Jurassic World movie(s).

That's true -- they should definitely expand the range of dino alt modes. I'd like an anklyosaurus! I'd say plesiosaur, but one already exists in Magmatron.

Just a nitpick, dinosaurs were entirely terrestrial. Aquatic and flying prehistoric reptiles were not dinosaurs, even though they're commonly lumped in with them.

As far as Magmatron goes, it's a questionable mold. He has a severe case of monkey arms for some unfathomable reason (I guess it's so the combined dino mode wouldn't have sideways rear knees?) and the rest of the robot's articulation is a bit stiff. He can move, but not in convenient ways. If you're hunting for him, don't spend too much money.

Thanks for your thoughts, & dino-corrections, King Kuuga.

I saw Magmatron for a wide range of prices -- I'll hunt on the cheap, but best so far has been ~$70.

Wow, did not know there was a plesiosaur! Cool! As for an anklyosaurus, isn't Bazooka one(Beast Wars)? So is Scorn(TLK) supposed to be a spinosaur? He's got some of the look.

Yep, Scorn is a Spinosaur. He counts. Even with the extra sails and such.

And the new voyager figure is definitely a really good Dinobot

I am very surprised at the rate my top 5 lists might look outdated. I do wonder how much a difference an update would make now and at what point it is worth rewriting.

For instance this list was written before:

Studio Series
The Last Knight
Power of the Primes

All three series have at least 1 good dinosaur toy. Would they beat out any of the ones currently on the list?

Is POTP Swoop better than Animated Swoop? Not sure about that one.

Since this list came out, I have gotten several new dinos, and I would modernize my own list as (not counting ones I don't own):

5) FoC Grimlock
4) AoE deluxe Scorn
3) Transmetal 2 Dinobot
2) SS Leader Grimlock
1) TLK voyager Scorn
