Speaking of the big guy though, I don't think I ever mentioned it but he's really growing on me! Now that final copies seem to be showing no issues with structural integrity (I can honestly can't believe that torso mode holds together at all, let alone as well as it seems to in actuality), and having seen the final colors too, I'm actually kinda fond of it. I doubt he'll be the primary mode for my PotP Dinobots, but I'm definitely happy enough with the look of him now that I'm sure I'll enjoy forming him up every once in a while.

Well Dinoking is already taken . Maybe they were trying to hard, but I think they were going for something unique that would not be easily confused with any other Transformers name. It's ok, it certainly could have been much worse. I wonder if will name him differently, or if they'll just go with Grand Grimlock. heh...

You have to ask yourself what fits in the context of the original combiner names.

Superion
Bruticus
Defensor
Abominus
Computron
Piranacon
Predaking
Monstructor

Most combiner names are three syllables long. Go shorter (e.g., Sky Reign) or longer (e.g., Galvatronus) and it sounds weird.

So yeah, Volcanus would have sounded better, as would Magmatron, Dinosor, or
Seismosor.

Volcanicus treads into the realm of awkwardly pretentious four syllable names like Superion, which is a gateway to madness: Jurassicus, Fossilicus, Tyranoking, Tectonicus, Extinctator, Apocalus... and so on.

And at five syllables: Prehistoricon.

Volcanicus isn't that hard to pronounce is it? It's just volcan and then the same -icus suffix as Bruticus.

I'm guessing someone at Hasbro Googled Volcanus at some point and quickly decided against it. If only they had done the same before coming up with Nexus Maximus. (Don't Google that one.)
