I am ok with Inferno, I will get him. The legends are good too.

Optimal Optimus is looking better and better every time. I'm super excited for him. He looks to be the best leader figure of the line, I'm stoked.

Also, moonracer and nova star will never be legs, never.

So if they will be arms ONLY, I wonder if a 3P company will make a giant robotic wheelchair for your legless Elita-Infin1te ;)

I'm mostly OK, but with Optimus Primal, but I have some issues with the heads.

First the gorilla head, it's a minor complaint, but I miss the teeth, I preferred the original's ferocity.

Primal head - how did they manage to forget to paint his chin!?

Optimal Optimus - why is the blue portion so thick? With just his lips uncovered he looks like he has a thick blue beard when it should look more like a nose guard and chin strap.

Plus they didn't bother painting his crest. Not really sure what they have against silver paint on the heads.

Silverbolt was the best torso from CW. Everything was solid and held together well, you had combiner lean but that was with every torso so it's no surprise Hasbro would want to go down that route again.

I don't want to get hopes up but the Terrorcon weapons look to have extra ports on them, they might be able to combine.

It looks like they may have been able to, but i think you would need Hun-gurr's weapon that does not exist :-(

Jazz and Repugnus will be legs if I ever combine those limbs, which is doubtful. I'm really thinking Repugnus will be a retool of Rippersnapper, hence that thought

I'm a little late to the discussion of "incomplete combiners," but I think Combiner Wars had far fewer "limbless torsos" than people think. Ultra Prime can use any limbs as a powered up form, but you can really consider the Optimus Maximus limbs (Prowl, Sunstreaker, Ironhide, and Mirage) to be the same default team for him, as they are for Unite Warriors Convoy Grand Prime, which uses the regular red and blue color scheme for Optimus. The difference realistically between Ultra Prime and Optimus Maximus is just a matter of color preference. Similarly, the single release Scattershot uses that same team as Optimus Maximus/Convoy Grand Prime in his instructions to form "Betatron." For eHobby Grand Scourge, he basically uses the standard UW Menasor limbs in his first fictional appearance. (I can't recall if he combined with anyone in the Unite Warriors Megatronia manga. You just kind of have to accept that some of these teams "double dip" on their membership with other gestalts. As for Hasbro Galvatronus, I consider his Unite Warriors Grand Galvatron team to be his "correct" combination, though you can't get those particular figures from Hasbro. You can just use whatever leftover CW limbs you have unassigned elsewhere for your Hasbro Galvatronus, since his bio says he just enslaves whatever limbs he wants to complete his gestalt form. You can think of Grand Scourge along the same lines, simply enslaving the hapless Stunticons in his way in lieu of having an actual dedicated team.

So, long story short, you can find a matching set of limbs for every Hasbro (or Takara) released Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors torso in the accompanying fiction (if not the toy bios or instructions or box art) as long as you're not upset by certain sets of limbs serving on more than one "team" or "gestalt" form.

Technically, even the "incomplete" or "teamless" torsos in Power of the Primes do have official configurations by stealing from other combiners (however illogical and hodgepodge they may seem), but somehow, it does feel a lot more sloppy than what we had to deal with in Combiner Wars with the likes of Ultra Prime, Galvatronus, and Betatron. I'm definitely leaning on some of the "extra" limbs we're left with from the alternate team members in Combiner Wars and one-off retools/redecos from the former Transformers Collectors Club to make some more cohesive and less redundant teams for the likes of "Megascream" and "Firestormer." For Elita Inf1nite, though, nothing less than Green Light and Lancer will do for me.

Actually, I think that is the exact thing that most people are upset with. You can't have a combiner battle royal if some of the limbs have to pull double duty. Well you can, but some of the participants would end up armless and/or legless, not good for a a** kicking contest...

Well, maybe it can be more of a "Royal Rumble" than a "Battle Royal." As a "contestant" is knocked out, another takes his or her place. Imagine that "Betatron" gets knocked out. Maybe the component members are down for the count, but Scattershot "still functions," he can call on his Technobot buddies and re-enter the fray as "Computron." Or, maybe only Scattershot is out of commission and Sunstreaker, Ironhide, Prowl, and Mirage disengage with Betatron and hook up to Opitmus Prime so that "Optimus Maximus" can take up the fight where Betatron left off. It makes for a more dynamic kind of warfare that actively uses the toy gimmick of "Scramble City Combination" in narrative form.

I've been using a different approach. I have both Hasbro and Takara Computrons and the 3 G2 sets. But I don't like having a repeat of the same combiners, so the repeats get swapped around to the extra torsos for some variety. I'll even throw the unused portions into a new combiner. For example, we all knows who Menasor is. But I've also created his lesser known brother Eyeasor(e) using G2 Onslaught, G2 Breakdown, G2 Brake-neck, G2 Swindle and Hasbro Afterbreaker. Basically looks like a box of crayons threw up.

For new incomplete torsos and extra limbs, I'll just keep mixing and matching as needed to suit my mood.

However, for those that want "complete" teams. Keep an eye on toyhax and their sticker sets that let you make new characters. I bought an extra Ironhide, Wheeljack and Trailbreaker and turned them into Smolder, X-Tinguisher and the Fallen, to go with Battle Core Prime turned into Nova Prime. I have Offroad with them for now until I see another sticker set for a decepticon. Once I have that, Stickerous Maximus will be complete.

Kev mentioned using G2 sets willy-nilly. I bought G2 Superion strictly to give his limbs to Skylynx and that team is complete. and RAD! Never going with any other limbs.

So is everyone befuddled over the fact that the "teams" are incomplete, or simply that the numbers don't add up? That's what has me. I was able to cobble together a full set for every torso I got. That did include a few Repro-ed repeats, but I still think I ended up with four limbots for every torso. even G2 Silverbolt has a weird team.

With PotP, I'm more concerned with un-even numbers than with "appropriate" teams. But, I'm big believer in Scramble City swap meets, and do not hold to this collective consciousness thing. It's an interesting concept but I find it very limiting to my play.

I know we have weighed all the facts, against all the leaks and rumors, but I still find it hard to believe that we know everything. I think after the IP corporate tragedy of that massive leak last year, Hasbro is playing tight to the chest. Super damage control. I don't think we know everything that is coming in PotP, and feel certain there will be more deluxe limbots. Am I being overly optimistic? You bet! That's how I roll. Helps me sleep at night. I-)

And yep - I'm definitely seeing Silverbolt's framework in this. The parts may all be molded differently, but it's still essentially Silverbolt's robot mode lying on it's back with the arms bent backwards, and a tail 'cap' over where the robot head should be.

You know that shared engineering concept or what have you really puts me in mind of the original G1 toys. Even if the bots where different, the sameness of transforming engineering could easily make you recall another TF.

Oh, I totally get that. After all, each figure turns into a robot, which has humanoid physiology - that is to say, one head, a central body, two arms with shoulders, elbows and wrists, a waist, pelvis, and two legs, each one with a hip joint, a knee joint and an ankle joint. In that sense, almost all transformers figures can be said to be the same. But Hun-Gurr, while having almost all his parts sclupted differently, still has Silverbolt's framework and proportions. I was hoping for a completely original mold right down to the framework. But Grimlock was all original, and look what they did with HIM. So it may not necessarily be a mark against Hun-Gurr that his mold isn't completely original, but retooled from Silverbolt. Silverbolt's engineering was good, which is why he got re-done so many times...

That also keep popping up and was answered above quickly as a result. Decepticon shells turn into melee weapons (Octopunch may be debatable), while Autobot ones are exclusively guns.

Octopunch can be an Harpoon, but some other reasons it looks like a crossbow. :HEADHURTS:

Hm.

Looking at Primal, You could probably separate the cockpit chunk from the smaller robot and still have a fully functional Optimal Optimus. Might be worth a try whenever I get him in hand.

Here I thought I was the only one who did that. And its sorta canon if you wink at it right. He was Lieutenent Commander of the Third Air Strike Division. And who's to say who the Third Air Strike Division was if not a bunch of bots who look like Arialbots.

Getting this back on topic, I myself will probably never combine Elita if I even pick her up, so no worries rhere. I have a bunch of spare Protectobots running around right now starring

*CW Srafe as Skyfeather and the unnamed RescueForce jet
CW Nosecone as Heatrock and the Unnamed Rescue Force drill tank
*CW Rook as the unnamed Rescue Force tank with thw geabby claw things (when I leave out CW Groove)
*CW Mirage, tentatively called Speed Stream after the G2 guy, as the unnamed RESCUE force CAR/dunebuggy (you can flip the rear spoiler up and strap a CW HFG to it and get close to Jarguar)
*Alpha Bravo as Fly Up,

So amongst them I have enough extra limbs for a second Defensor.

Add POTP starscream and you can get the Rescue Force combiner, which is lit, just replace the combiner head with a Liokaiser head
