Trying to save money man but ugh I need both of them.

Mostly Repungus because he's TR (I will collect every headmaster eventually) and I have the other two monstorbots.

Nice. Punch/Counterpunch looks great, and I really like Repugnus' swords.

Twinferno looked good
Grotusque looked... fine except for the hands
Repugnus looks... He could do without the shoulder pads in bug mode. :P

Hey, where's the special edition Solus?

No comment on Punch/Counterpunch that hasn't been said already.

I was just doing some research on the history of the generations line, since I passively saw all the toys come and go until I started purchasing them late into CW. Historically, it has always consisted of about 18 month lines, with far more product.

Now we all know it was revealed at Hascon last year that the generations line would be shortened to 12 months so that constant "rebranding: would hopefully encourage B&M to restock more often. However since PotP was leaked about 2 months before Hascon, I don't think we fully realized at the time, what we understand now, that PotP was the first line to adapt this new shorter line-branding. based on the amount of content for PotP overall it does seem like it came out with about 2/3 of what a normal line would develop. Had PotP been permitted to run through the summer of 2019, no doubt we would have gotten perhaps 2-3 more combiner teams, and perhaps a Scorponok or Omega Supreme Titan to finish the line.

With that being said however, I can only hope that whatever is revealed at SDCC concerning War For Cybertron will have an appeal for fans such as myself that have been fully invested in the Prime Wars Trilogy. I mean making toys that don't conform to a *gimmick* definitely has it's advantages, but making toys that do, also appeals to fans such as myself. A nice mix I think would please many fans. Kind of like the legends size in TR. I got all the tablets that could interact with Blaster & Soundwave, while at the same time, many other really great stand alone Legends Class figures were developed. I'd love to see that kind of mix come to the other size classes as well. The mechanics of the current combiner system to me are too good to abandon, yet at the same time, I understand there are many stand alone characters that do not need to be part of a combiner team.

I don't think a second Titan would have been part of PotP no matter what. The titans have traditionally be associated with whatever wave for for Q3 of the year. So PotP reaching until Q2 of 2019 instead of Q4(ish) of 2018 wouldn't have gotten it far enough. That also matches up with the whole prime wars trilogy. Devestator was associated with wave 3 of CW in Q3 of 2015. Fort Max was associated with the kickoff (wave 1) of TR in Q3 of 2016. Trypticon was associated with wave 5 in 2017. Predaking would be with wave 3 of PotP meaning no second Titan no matter what.

What the shortening of PotP to 4 waves really does is push the next Titan from Wave 1 and the launch of WFC to wave 3.

That all being said, I don't believe the titans were ever officially associated with any specific wave since they are only once a year, that is just the general lining up of the waves with the release of the titans. Of course, with PotP, all the waves have been accelerated somewhat so who knows if things would have kept lining up anyway.

This will go on my "Rebirth" shelf. I'm glad he's "gimmick free" (i.e. not a Headmaster or combiner.) And impressed that Hasbro painted the rims red. Punch looks kind of weird without proper feet though.

Now, what about the Horrorcons? :-?

Thanks for the comparison pics, Cyberpath. It really shows what an excellent job they've made with this remake of the character. What I'd consider to be a "perfect" update.

As much as I want to get excited over these two, deep down I know they'll be some exclusive and I'll be priced out of the market.

Of course if they are available for wide release, I'd probably still have to pass on Repugnus. No point getting him given how Grotusque was unavailable to me.
I should go back to bed.

That's what annoys me too. I know the chances of getting Grotusque for a non-insane price are pretty low, and you can't just have one Monsterbot.

THAT SAID if I see Doomgerbil Grotusque at TFNation for a not-ridiculous price I'll scoop him up.

I get the impression you're being facetious, but they do share a lot of design queues. Dead End was the first thing I thought.

I don't thinks it's a retool, but damn they look alike.

Oh my god they’re identical!

They've taken SOME design cues from Dead End, but that's about it, looks like a lot of new parts to me.

Looks like the boxes for Blast Off, Repugnus, and Punch/Counterpunch line up together to form a mural. Makes me wish I had the drive to like Repugnus now to complete the mural but oh well.

That is a cool poster even if the logic behind it is a little wonky.

Blast Off. Represents CW, fellow Combaticons featured in the background, comes with HFG = ;)^

Repugnus. Represents TR, fellow Monsterbots featured in the background, comes with TM head= ;)^

Double Spy. Dosen't Represent PotP, *Autobot Clones available in TR and have no other ties to this character other than a 1987 toy commercial, featured in the background, comes with a PM variant... :???:

Each also comes with a variant Prime Master that neither can really interact with in any proper manner (Repugnus can wear Solus as a head, but that's not the PM's "proper" use).

Punch and the Clones teamed up together for a mission in a few scenes of The Rebirth.

And the toys of both Punch and the Clones share the distinction of lacking the primary gimmick(s) utilized by virtually every other toy of their respective lines.

Titan Masters can still ride the Clones in alt mode, they're like any Legends Class figure.

Eh, they kinda just let TMs sit on top of them rather than having actual, openable, designated cockpits built into their bodies like all the other new-mold non-PDA TR Legends have.

The Titan Master interaction was kinda spotty for the Legends figures all across Titans Return too. Some integrated the little figures very well, like many of the cars. Other, like the tablets, just let them kind of ride on top awkwardly. Even with new molds in Power of the Primes, some like Windcharger/Tailgate and Beachcomber fit the Prime Masters perfectly inside. Others make use of a shallow "cockpit" like Slash/Cindersaur. And then you have Battleslash and Roadtrap. At least the Autobot clones don't require their passengers to bend their knees the wrong way.

Well dip me in axle grease and call me slick...

Punch/Counterpunch looks amazing!!!! That is what I hoped for in a double spy!!! He is a need.

I really really really think Grotusque would have worked far better as a Rippersnapper retool, the leg transformation for the Twinferno mold is not good for his thorax there. But I will still get him to complete my Monsterbot Trio!

Punch/Counterpunch looks PERFECT, only thing I wish he had were separate blasters for both robot modes.
If I had Grotusque, I would attempt to pick up Repugnus to complete the trio. But I don't, so...

now the real question: which would look better on Repugnas the head he came with or the titan master we got a year ago?
