He's no triple changer

But I bought a double changer named Bumblebee. Are there any Bumblebees among the Titan Returns figures that are Headmasters? I know they put out a Bumblebee with just about every toyline. Aside from the Volkswagen that they had him turning into back in the G1 days, have there been any other Bumblebees that turn into Volkswagens?

Masterpiece Bumblebee (MP-21) is a licensed Volkswagen Type-1 Beetle. He's a fantastic little figure, about the equivalent of a deluxe sized figure in the Transformers Generation line.

And that's the only one, aside from G1 Goldbug. Nowadays G1 Bumblebee transforms into a compact hatchback, which has a roughly similar shape.

I thought the one I got today was a Camaro. Is the MP Bumblebee more expensive than it was when it first came out? I gotta wonder if Transformers are the most expensive toys. I know radio control cars are expensive; but when it comes to Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, they're only about a dollar or less from stores.

I guess I thought of another toyline that's more expensive than Transformers, and that's video games. The difference between video games and Transformers however is that older obsolete video game systems like the NES aren't as valuable as older G1 Transformers.

I knew about Goldbug when I asked about other versions of Bumblebee that turn into Volkswagens; but since he's a G1 Transformer, I was just wondering about later versions that weren't G1 Bumblebees.

I already know there are enough Bumblebees for a whole swarm. Get it? They got enough Bumblebees for a swarm? But it's just the ones that turn into Volkswagens that I'm wondering about since I haven't had anyone offer to sell me a Bug Bite. The stronger resemblance to a Volkswagen, the better.

The only ones post G1 I can think of are:

Artfeather Bumblebee (3rd party)

A retool of Classics Bumblebee, there was also a Goldbug repaint.

iGear Bumblebee (3rd Party)

A retool of the Classics legends Bumblebee.

ToyWorld Bii (3rd Party)

Brand new mold with a G1 cartoon inspired alt mode, there was a G2 gold repaint of this also.

Image

Impossible Toys MC Cars (3rd Party)

A g1 Bumblebee with addded articulation.

Masterpiece Bumble (Takara/Hasbro)

Fully licenced VW Beetle

I think thats all of the Bumblebee toys that are besed on a VW Beetle since G1.

Those all look like good Volkswagen liikalikes. Now the question is who's got one to sell me.

Did a quick search and these appear to be the best deals:

Artfeather Bee:

ToyWorld Bii

Impossible toys Bee

Masterpiece Bee

The cheapest option would be Impossible toys, with ToyWorlds Bii coming in as the dearest.

It depends what you want for your collection of you want an affordable litle minibot go for Impossible toys, if you want a good Classics Bee go for ToyWorlds option and if you want a realistic car mode go Masterpiece.

If it were my money is go either ToyWorld or Masterpice, I've owned both of those figures and they are both excellent.

With my budget, it would have to be the Impossible Toy one. I was hoping that place would've had a loose Bug Bite for sale; but when I looked for Gobots, all I found was an expensive Stacks that had been sold.

I'm wanting to go to Megacon so bad, so I can see if anyone there has Bug Bite; and I even posted on the forum for Transformer events asking if there's anyone living nearby who I could car pool with. I'm wanting to go when John Schneider is scheduled to be there, and May 28 is the cheapest day that he is.

Why is it when I click on links to a lot of Transformers for sale, they'll say they're recommended for people who are 16 and older? Is that a typo, or are they serious?

No that's correct, there usually 3rd Party (unofficial) products, they are ment for adult collectors and often have more fragile prices than standard Hasbro fair. Also many have sharp edges to them especially one's that use swords as weapons.

That's strange that a toy that a lot of kids like would be recommended for that age bracket. I remember playing a board game before the recommended age on the box, and that was Stratego. I noticed some of those Bumblebees are about $70. It'd be nice if someone offered me that much for my Bumblebee. I could easily afford to get two Voyager class triple changers, but I know nobody would because he only cost me five dollars plus tax. Hopefully, I'll have a job soon and will be able to afford all the triple changers that I want before Hasbro discontinues them. The ones I'm wanting are Optimus Prime, Megatron, Broadside, Blitzwing, Sound Wave or Blaster, and Quickswitch who's at least a six changer. And I'll probably buy Ravage too. Have they ever considered doing a combiner set of triple changers?

I remember back in the day when there was a Gobot that had the name of an insect that a lot of people wouldn't want to have around, Hornet. Only that was a monster Gobot rather than a vehicle one, but it was still pretty cool.

After Goldbug, Pretender Bumblebee turned into a VW too. Not a deformed/penny racer style, either. It was also sold (without the shell) as Legends Bumblebee around the same time, exclusive to K-mart.

Then there was G2 Bumblebee who was a vac-metallized gold repaint of the original yellow/red G1.

Finally there was a box set of the year 2 minibots and Bumblebee, with g1 Bee in the original yellow (no red ones this time), but with a new face mold to more imitate the cartoon. This was recolored into "Bug Bite", which was weird since the original Bug Bite was yellow anyway, not white.
