The Titan Class - where to go from here?

It's been about 4 years since they've been introduced and since then we've gotten 4 figures - one for each year. Metroplex, Devastator, Fortress Maximus and Trypticon. What I intend to ask though... is who else can get the Titan treatment, and with that question how much life is left in the class?

We already know HasTak plan to do Scorponok and Omega Supreme at some point; otherwise they wouldn't have made it into the poll. Aside from that there's the possibility of Unicron and Primus, and maybe even another Combiner. But those are the only real possibilities I can see. Hasbro uncharacteristically seems allergic to obvious repaints they could sell rather easily; we saw no Metrotitan or G2 Devastator. Grand Max and RiD Brave Maximus also show no signs of happening and with that I can't see Trypticon getting any repaints either.

So, yeah, this is the main thing that's been on my mind concerning the class - considering the limited amount of characters appropriate for it and how many have been used up, it seems it has a very limited amount of time left on purely those merits and I doubt obscure repaints or re-issues could catch peoples' attention for the big Titan figure of the year. Scorponok, Omega Supreme, Unicron and Primus are the only things that seem on the table - so what do you think? Has this class got a mere 4 years left until retirement?

I wouldn't mind seeing a Titan Class Predaking. To me, Predaking was huge.

I think they're saving the repaints for after they've exhausted new characters. Titans are a whole different world than regular sized figures so to me it makes sense that we haven't seen anything like Metrotitan.

I can see the release order going; Scorponok, Omega Supreme, Unicron and then Primus. A Grandus would be really cool but I fear he's a bit too obscure to get a new Titan figure. After we get all the original characters I can see the cycle starting over with Metrotitan followed by G2 Devestator, Grand/Brave Max, Gigastorm, Black Zarak and then Omega Sentinel.

Damnation!!! There really will be a Omega Supreme?? So I guess I should make plans on parting ways with my YOTS OS and forget the idea of getting the 3rd Party upgrade for him. :BANG_HEAD:

I really dig my OS it is my classics representation so I guess I'll have to wait and see the upcoming release and decide what to do...hells bells!!! :-? :VEHI:

Nothing is 100% confirmed, just strong hinting.

It may happen ... it may not. So don't offload stuff yet.

I personally think it'll go Omega Supreme, Scorponok, Primus, Unicron. Hasbro's pattern so far seems to be alternating between Autobot and Decepticon, we just got a 'con in Trypticon, and we all know how much they like to label Primus and Unicron as an Autobot and a Decepticon...

Yeah, the obvious cities and planets seem like the best bet. Would also love to see Titan Armada Tidal Wave. Guy could use proper legs and accurate colors. After that I doubt they'll retire the class, but they may retire the 24" figures and instead focus on 18", 16" or even 14" (not like they're doing much with Ultimate class) as the new Titan class. At some point I think they'll start going back to the old reliable characters in Titan Class. A 16" Star Convoy, or I guess Star Optimus Prime, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, especially if they should ever go back to Micromasters/Mini-Cons. A giant Super Megatron, Grimlock, or Jetfire wouldn't be a shock either.

Could also see them just replacing the scale with bigger new-mold box sets at the same price point (sort of like the Constructicon set). Updated RID2001 Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus? Updated Armada Optimus Prime, Jetfire, and Overload? Yeah, I want these things, and done right they could fill a box the size of the Combaticon set.

(And yes, I did order the Legends God Ginrai box set.)

I have those, and think they are a perfect classics Omega. I believe he's the same height as Titan Devastator too, so it's a good face off. As it stands, a titan class Omega is just going to be the G1 figure with articulation. I actually think the YOTS one would look better. Especially with the upgrade kit.

To be honest, other than the already mentioned ones, Predaking, I can't think of any more who should go in titan class. Maybe an animated Omega supreme? But that's still Omega.

I think Metroplex, Trypticon & Fort Max are too big to make into toys (scale wise) & the Titan class should have been for characters like Broadside, Tidal Wave & Overlord etc. But I would love to see a Titan Primus. I would really love to see some new original characters introduced.

So, would anyone else here hope the possible Titan class Omega Supreme ends up Devastator sized and not MetroMax sized?

I'm really not sure where Titan Class could go short of creating some entirely new characters or *gasp* going for non-G1 designs. That said I'd totally be down for some designs from sources other than G1 (or even just made up). Perhaps toys of the other Titans (like the ones on Eukaris, Velocitron etc)? The Velocitronian one could turn into a sort of race track/garage...thing.

They have been brought up, but my suggestion would also be Armada Tidal Wave and G1 Predaking for new molds. Repaints of existing figures could also make sense, it would be a cash grab for Hasbro.

Also, even though it would mean introducing brand new robot modes, I would love to see Titan Class sized toys for the Ark and the Nemesis.

As Black Hat suggested, draw from other lines.

Animated Omega Supreme - Ark
TF:Prime Trypticon - Nemesis.

The problem with Titans is they're big ticket items, so they're aimed more at collectors than kids and parents. To date none of the Titans have really had a TV/Movie for kids to watch, instead they've relied on the collectors.

But down the track, there's no reason whatever media is out there at the time, couldn't use OS/Tryps as The Ark and The Nemesis so the kids can connect with them.

Yeah, the price point is the reason I figured obscure repaints wouldn't cut it. Because when it's Hardhead done as Quake it doesn't really matter if collectors will get it or not; it's a £17 toy a parent can easily pick up for their kid or a kid can get with their pocket money.

£150 is a much harder sell. So while the average kid wouldn't know Metrotitan from Metroplex - and may even like the former's colour scheme better - this and Masterpiece are the only place they're not the main demographic.

Life size class. Too big to fit in your room, might fit in your garage but takes all day to transform.

Well, one thing they can do, after getting all the typically massive bots taken care of (So Scorponok, Omega Supreme, Unicron, and Primus) is to change the Titan-class into a box set like the the current $100 box sets.

It makes the most sense for certain characters who we want larger (physically) representation of, but have no business case due to lack of remold-ability.

First group that comes to mind is the Dinobots.

Think about it, 5 bots that are above Voyager, but not quite Leader, size. Or even 1 Leader and 4 Voyager size bots. No need to worry about Remolding, since Titan class is it's own animal.

That said, I really don't want that to be the case, as the Dinobots are some of the few bots left who need a remake from early G1. I would rather see them in PotP (however unlikely that might be).

Seeing how Trypticon is packed in the box with both legs removed makes me think Scorponok is next. Flip that torso over, replace the head, elongate the tail, do some work to the legs (or make new ones altogether). Done.

There's also a panel from Salvation that makes me think this. Will have to grab that and post it here when I'm back home.

Speaking of Omega, I'd kill for an Omega Prime if it was released where I can actually go into a store and buy it (and when I have the money to do so). Only Titan I've ever seen in store is Metroplex (I did get a Devastator last year via BBTS, though). Landfill and... Mr. Trainscombiner... would be cool too, and of course they could reissue Fort Max in original RID deco. I doubt they'd bother, given they already just did Bruticus in non-titan form, but a big Ruination would be great too.

Can you tell I'm a big original RID fan?

Take it to Armada, and you could do a nice big Primebot Jetpants Plus Overload combo, of course Unicron as a bigger class is a no brainer. Tidalwave would make for an awesome Titan, IMO.
