Ooo, I wonder if that Hot Rod repaint will be a edgy black Shattered Glass esq version! I might cave if it is

Unlikely since it's Studio Series. It'll either be more accurate movie colors or a little less likely his "error" colors from season 4.

You do understand that isn't a 1 to 1 tradeoff, right? The fine details or "greebling" you bring up quite often is really just a simple portion of the computer design that is basically just the finishing touches of a mostly developed part. Adding or removing some of the fine lines and details is only going to add or save very little cost in total. Adding in panels and putting plastic resources in places where there isn't already a part mostly designed is a bit more complicated than just choosing the finished details. That would mean adding additional parts, which would require additional mold resources as well as more on the assembly process.

Hasbro can easily stop the "greebling" but that won't lead to more plastic elsewhere.

No one said it was a 1 to 1 tradeoff...
I also never said it would be the equivalent of many parts that would require lots of plastic or other materials.
Initially someone is getting paid to go in there and design every one of those lines, indentations, extra shapes that stick up, etc. The mold itself has to be created that produces every one of those little details... And these details are all over the place, sometimes even in the headsculpts.
So it may not be the equivalent to the cost of plastic, but I'm betting all said and done it's more than you'd think.
Forearm panels AND the pins on a figure such as Soundwave wouldn't require much.

Here's hoping it's a cartoon accurately colored Hot Rod in magenta for the first time ever.

Considering Blaster is red, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a Target exclusive, but Target exclusives have been easier for me to find than Walmart exclusives. But, I’d be happy if he’s a general release since that means online sellers won’t be marking him up and he’ll be easier to find in general.

I like all of these. Slag we already saw, so I'd say Wreck Gar is the best out of the new reveals.

I had higher expectations for the Sharkticon. I'm glad we have it and I'll buy three to add to my army, but it isn't better than either deluxe sized Sharkticon 3Ps made already.

If this is the case, I'll consider getting him and keeping him sealed. I've actually been tempted to do that with the current version the last few times I've seen him in-store.

Same... I've had almost no luck with Walmart, but with the same amount of effort, I've snagged every exclusive I've wanted from Target. I've also found every SS86 figure I've wanted at Target.

I'm still most excited about Slag, but W-G looks even better than I expected. I wasn't going to be shocked if I ended up canceling my preorder after today. But now I'm considering getting a Junkion as well.
For Hastak, I think the Sharkticon looks pretty on point. And better than any of their previous releases. He's most likely the only figure I'll either get 3 of, or none of.

Really bummed that the recent listings give no indication of completing more bayverse figures. Nothing here really interests me.

Straight from the combined mouths of 3 credible leakers, as of late last night/early this morning: "Unicron Galvatron" is the rumored wireframe Galvatron repaint and a Pulse exclusive in the countries with Pulse, the reason the price is higher than normal is because he also comes with 14 of those microfigures that are sized to Haslab Unicron & the Kingdom Ark (5 of which are the Dinobots) and a couple of ships to go with the one Unicron already comes with (including the Revenge, a Quintesson ship, and at least one more).

More than likely based on the scene in the movie where Megatron is re-formatted into Galvatron and he has those green lines on a black background behind him, or like the half-way point where he's covered in that light purple stuff.

So is this replacing the version that people thought was going to be done in toy colors?

And yeah, this is going to be tough to pull-off.
The idea seems better suited for a statue imo.
Especially if it’s going to be a partial “reformatting”.
Also makes me think it could involve some semi-transparent, purple plastic.
But I could also see this being used for Cyclonus & Scourge to get another use of those molds.

Not a huge fan of this idea.
But who knows... Maybe Hastak has it all sorted & it’s amazing.

I thought they were just going to make a R.E.D. figure of the partially reformatted Megatron? Having an actual Transformer (either Megatron, Galvatron, or somewhere in-between) from that scene, I am skeptical about it's practicality, but I guess we will see.

I remember the rumor of a R.E.D. Galvatron involving the reformatting appearance, which makes a whole lot of sense.
With a transforming figure it would be difficult for multiple reasons:
Getting it to look right to begin with; that's a ton of paint apps, and even if they go for the "cross-contour" look, that's not easy over so many different curves, split parts of joints, etc.
The second issue is how all of these details look once transformed into the cannon mode...
It could work, but it's going to look awfully mish-mashy.
Although Hastak has been making bot mode first priority so who knows.

But my main thought against a reformatting version that transforms, is for anyone who actually "plays" with their figures; this version means your Galvatron is permanently in a state of "reformatting"... Seems to really limit playability.
Which sure, this would be more geared towards collectors.
Just seems more logical for a R.E.D. release where so many joints or an alt mode aren't issues.

This is not replacing anything, as far as it sounds. Separate listings exist for this "Unicron Galvatron" and for the Selects Toy Colors Galvatron, so the two certainly aren't mutually exclusive, and we've been hearing from the credible sources since they started talking about Kingdom Galvatron's existence that Hasbro is very confident in this mold and intends to use it multiple times (which is part of where speculation of an Energon Megatron repaint and/or armor parts originally came from), this just lines up with that.

Wireframe Galvatron is definitely a wait and see, if true.

Which kind of begs the question of why they used Megatron for SG Megs rather than the Galvatron mold, since it more closely matches the original SG Megs since it used the Energon mold.

It would be interesting to see if they do give this Galvs wings and a jet mode of some kind.

I see your point in that question... Isn't SG Megatron based on the ER version? If so, Hastak probably wanted to use that mold again.
It seems to me that the SG line is being centered more on color schemes than specific molds.
Which I'm not saying is ideal, but seems this was an issue for Starscream as well in some peoples' opinions.

He is based on the Siege one, actually. The current SG line focuses on keeping the original body (to keep them recognizable to the broader general public and not just the fans), but changing colors and heads. Nothing else. For the figures so far released, it works, with Megatron straddling the limits, but a possible SG Galvatron... ho boy.

Still, Megatron is the only one that goes out of his way to look like his SG version, with added parts no less.

All other SG releases so far have been straight repaints with a new head in some cases.

Why go to all the trouble with Megs, with extra wings and a cockpit to make him look like himself, but use a body that he never had. Anybody that cares who this is, knows that the body is not right. Anybody that would buy megs for being an Autobot, would likely also buy Galvs for the same reason.

Still, Maybe they've other plans for Galvatron, beyond the wireframe and toy accurate colors.

The've already used the Megatron mold what.. 6 times? 7? I guess giving Galvatron 3 or 4 uses is not out of the question.
