As for Vader being "vain". If that were so, why wouldn't he have a suit that looked like Anakin, and by extension, a ship and mech that were identical?

Because he's not Anakin anymore. Sure they're still the same person physically but he stopped being Anakin the moment he saved Palatine from Windu. As far as the suit goes he didn't design his suit, Palatine did and with Palatine being his master Vader wouldn't have changed it. The vanity goes hand in hand with his dramatic acts.

Then, couldn't his tie fighter and thus mech have been designed by someone else? I doubt his lightsabers have little Darth Vader helmets as the pommels, right?

If the Vader persona is how he views himself and wants others to view him then why would his hypothetical mech be designed as anything else?

Then why wasn't his tie-fighter designed the same?

PicsArt_1518006964763.jpg

Because he's the second in command of a large empire? He wants to distinguish himself from the random soldiers But his tie fighter is designed the same way it just has sight modifications. There are dozens of tie designs that all look different but still share the same basic elements.

So, you're saying that a giant mech for Vader would look just like him, because he's vain, but his regular tie-fighter wouldn't look like him because he wouldn't want to look that different?

I literally said his tie if different to distinguish himself. I even just bolded it for you. But humanoid mech =\= military starship.

You guys have entered a loop argument here, probably best to agree to disagree.

Now who do I have to use the schawrz on to get a spaceballs transformers crossover? I want mega maid! Complete with voicebox that plays the spaceballs theme and does the self destruct bit.

Which is ironic considering Vader probably made it out of Padme and she wasn't such a bad shot. And then you realize it's probably Luke is probably piloting it and, you know what, this is getting really weird (and that's really saying something for Eva).

"Luke, you must pilot the eva, it is your destiny"
"That's not true!"
"You know it to be true, search your feelings..."
"That's impossible!"
"Now get into the Eva..."

Though if Luke is Shinji...does that make Leia Rei? Plus is chewbacca kawrou?

Gadzooks, what an eyesore.... an iconic ship like the Falcon and THAT was the best they could do as far as a robot mode?

Because you're not doing it right.

You only have to use the video code (which is the gibberish after v=).

Code: Select all

Ohhhh...thanks. I have never encountered manual code like this. On one hand, it's a bit TOO manual, but on the other, it allows users to post links, like in the good-ol' days, without spamming a page full of playback screens (especially when posting multiple links).

Anyway, those Starwars crossover toys. eh? What a hoot!

I don't care what anyone else says I still think these ones look good, they look like actual Transformers that so happen to Transform into the Falcon and have some resemblance to Han and Chewie, I love the headsculpts, the weapons and how much detail the Falcon has.

When I get em (Hell yeah I'm buying them) their going to be neutral scavengers that explore the universe and get into crazy hijinks.

Like Anode and Lug if they were actually good characters that had charm.

And finally from Wonderfest 2018, still courtesy of our fellow Seibertronian primalxconvoy, we have images of the Takara Tomy Star Wars Powered by Transformers crossover series, of which we had already seen images of Darth Vader / Tie Advanced X1, and the Millennium Falcon / Han Solo and Chewbacca sets.

What you see in the images mirrored below is a closer look at both sets, including a diorama showing off the transformation from Tie Advanced to Darth Vader, similar to other jumproll sequences seen in the past, and multiple shots from various angles of the packaging, tags, and the two rogue scoundrels and scruffy nerfherders that form the fastest piece of junk in the galaxy. Take a look, and let us know what you think - will you be picking either of these up?

Yes. It's the one thing that ever come out for either the Hasbro or Takara versions that I've really liked. More of this style, please!

I didn't remember to check but I want to know if the Diaclone pilots and Star Wars figures are the same size. If so, there's room for cross-play between these two lines. I would have loved the same to have occurred with TR/Legends and then have future lines (MASK, GI-Joe mini vehicles, Star Wars mini vehicles, etc) share similar sized vehicles and pilots to cross play with.

Though cool, I don't see this line doing it in my collection. I enjoy the appearance of Vader, but the Falcon is not hitting the right wants for me. Now, do a Unicron/Deathstar and I'm in it to win it. I have a quick question though, are these just updated versions of the older Star Wars X Transformers toys from a while back?

In-Hand Images of Takara Star Wars Powered By Transformers X1 Tie Advanced

Courtesy of Japanese toy blogger Alfes2010, currently posting on Twitter before updating the Snakas blog, we have a nice series of in-hand images of the Takara Tomy Star Wars Powered by Transformers Tie Advanced X1 / Darth Vader figure.

Shown in both spaceship and mecha Darth Vader robot thing mode, the images below also give us a look at the Vader and Stormtrooper minifigures that come with the toy, plus the lightsaber accessory, some poseability, fan features for the wings and a possible gerwalk-esque mode, as well as compatibility with the current Takara Diabattles line, too. Check it all out below, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub!

Well, Alfes2010 was certainly creative with those poses...

It's just weird seeing the TIE Advanced X1 in such a light gray color, when we're so used to seeing toy versions in that bluish-gray color that dates all the way back to the original Kenner toy from about 40 years ago.

Video Review of Takara Star Wars Powered By Transformers Tie Advanced X1 Darth Vader

Thanks to fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999, a regular source for this type of news, we have an in-hand video review of the first in the new line of Takara Tomy Star Wars Powered by Transformers figures - the Tie Advanced X1 that turns into Darth Vader.

Take a look at the clip embedded below, including chuck's thoughts on the toy, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub discussion boards!

Takara's take on a Darth Vader that Transforms into a Tie Advanced fighter is really solid. The plastic feels good while the transformation is simple but fun. Unfortunately, the overall price of the figure makes it hard to recommend to anyone but the most dedicated fan.

I got Vader. I got thoughts ;;)

Image

He's fun. But he's more "toy" than "collector piece". Which maybe I should have expected, and is right for it, but he's just simpler than I thought he'd be. All around, it's a decent figure, but nothing to rave about. Robot mode is posable enough to do some fun stuff, but lacks a couple joints (like a wrist swivel) to make him fantastic. And the tie wings, while quite movable, can't move every way you'd like. His shoulders like to fall out of place, but it's no deal breaker. The Tie mode, is very much a Tie. Not much else to say about that

I mentioned somewhere that he was slightly bigger than a Deluxe I think? Getting side by side with a current Deluxe, now I see he's more than slightly bigger.

Image

Final thoughts:
He's a good opener if not slightly underwhelming. But he is light years ahead of the old SWTF's and I look forward to the continuation of the line. Bring on the Falcon, and please make an X-Wing Luke!

From the pics, I can see what you mean about this CHUG-style Darth Vader, Shaj -- I would have expected him to be taller as well. He still looks fun, but I absolutely get why one might be underwhelmed.
