Wave one SS is coming to a close for me, Just needing the Leaders at this point. But with the Voyagers freshly in hand and a few days of handling, I'ma share my thoughts.
I'll start off with their alt modes:
They're pretty great. Starscream is sleek but still not perfect. And Prime... feels like he condenses to a great degree. Maybe it's just me, but doesn't he look SO SMALL?!
These pair side by side, look odd. What I mean by that is, being both Voyagers, there's a pretty signifigant size difference. But Prime has a dense feeling to him, as he has a lot of moving parts. Not to imply that Screamer is hollow or empty either, just that his parts are fewer and larger. If that makes any sense
Starscream. What do I love. Well, the sculpt is amazing. His hand missile thing (while maybe slightly too small) is great, and something we've needed for a while.
His hands! For some reason, Hastak seems notorious for not being able to get his hands right. And while this guys hands aren't perfect either, they're pretty close, and wonderfully expressive. With these you can pull off some great monstrous or weaselly poses.
What I don't love. His legs. The landing gear (which do help support him) get in the way, and while he has multiple joints, all are rather limited. And perhaps it's an unfair comparison, but the Leader/MPM mold does such a better job. And I feel these legs of his really limit him at the end of the day.
On to Prime!
This is going to sound strange, but I don't necessarily like him, but I find him damn impressive. Sweet merciful Primus, that transformation is complex (for his size/pricepoint). First venture, I hated it. Second venture, I learned to appreciate it. That truck cab comes together so tight and snug (and compressed!) that it's surprising. The Revenge Leader mold I still think is superior, but this figure is easily #2. And if you don't have a single BayPrime, this is the perfect place to start.
It's probably no secret at the point, but he is quite posable. And while his blade thingies are great, it's a shame he doesn't have a gun as well. So.... why don't I love him? He needs more paint apps, some kibble gets in the way, and I'm spoiled! I have other movie Primes that I like better. But as I said, he's impressive, and I'd recommend him.
