Devy’s looking way better! I’m sure once we get the prototypes properly colored (and transformed), Devastator’s going to look awesome.

I will say though I’m a little disappointed that he doesn’t appear to have the missile pods from the ROTF game like in the concept art. Still looks really cool though!

Alas - I thought Bayverse Devastator was trash when I first saw it, and I see little evidence that the Studio Series version is any better. The movie fans can have this one.

Does anyone know how big is this supposed to be when fully combined?

This will be my reaction when we see the finalized version of Devastator properly transformed, properly combined, and properly posed:

Personally, I havent ever handled a deluxe twin I liked. It's not a hard transformation, just super fiddly.

Much better looking, even if mistransformed. Can’t wait to get the last four to complete this abomination!

The prototype colours and horrible transformation of the arms make this particular image look rather messy, but I'm blown away by the engineering and ambition that's gone into this.

I was on the fence on getting any of the Constructicons until I saw the completed Devastator, but this has sold it. Can't wait to move to NY in a few weeks and start hunting them down. :D

You were expecting a line whose entire point is to make movie-accurate figures to radically alter the appearance of the characters?

Studio Series in general must have been absolutely brutal for you.

Well no duh the movie fans can have it that's who the figure is for.

That's like asking if the Generations figures are to appeal to non G1 fans. (or whoever generation a figure represents like the occasional Beast Wars or UT homage)

I just noticed how probably they used this concept as reference for the Studio Series.

Devastator rotf.jpg

Apart from the movie-accurate red face, notice Mixmaster's grid at the end of the neck and Ravage's threads partially visible in his back similar to how the end in the toy.

I beg to differ solely on engineering aspect  in appearances, its frimly each to their own as I much prefer this devy to G1, here he looks like a beast of destruction, quite fitting with the ascetic. G1 devy, for me was boring, (I saw the key to Vector sigma first before the movie and any other devy episodes, so the special teams made more an impact) only time G1 devy was interesting to me was when we had Prowlastator in IDW

Oh damn, Devastator's pretty impressive. If I were about £300 richer I might consider him

On an unrelated note, I recently watched an MPM Jazz review, and it's super cool how the Studio Series version seems to have borrowed a lot of engineering ideas.

Bee movie Optimus needed some autobot symbols, and he finally got them. I don't really think of him as a movie figure, more like a Steampunk G1 toy. It makes him cooler to me

Never ever saw that Movie "Bee" Optimus in store ever. Nor even on the store sites! I wonder if it even came out in Canada?

It did, I got mine at Walmart. never saw it again. Also, your apples to oranges comment was the best thing I read all day.

Goddammit. That Optimus is one of those "happen only once" MOFO, eh? Guess I'll have to import it from Japan in one of my Mandarake haul. #-o

Also, hell yeah, this fruit quote never get old. ;)

I think it will get repackaged, they'd be crazy not to.

I still can;t believe there isnt a studio series Optimus on shelves for this holliday season.

I've been seeing more Primes in store lately, but it's wild to me that I can go to Target and see Bee movie Prime, then go to Wal-Mart and see Movie 1 Prime, and then go into Meijer and see Revenge of The Fallen Prime  I think it's down to stores and how/when they decide to stock things. Some are probably trying to have the newest figures rather than have the more bankable but older figures

Leader class jet optimus? a single figure has made its way to my area, so I guess that counts as saturation nowadays >:oP

Oh, I've made no secret of my general disdain for the Bay movies. I find them formulaic and joyless, with predictable cinematography, cardboard stereotype characters, and needless vulgarity. But they have made truckloads of cash, that can't be disputed. So he must be doing SOMETHING right. As for the toys based on the movies, all I'm saying is that I'm not bothering with them. But I won't take that away from the people who DO want them. My not liking them shouldn't diminish the enthusiasm of anyone who does. Just means more of them will be available for you to enjoy without me or my minions taking them off the shelves. They're all yours - Death treats everyone equally!

Except for TLK. That one bombed at the box office. ;)
