Cool! I never noticed how Ironhide has a Cybertronian/NBE version of scoliosis!

Haven't transformed mine, but I've gotten the shoulders to kinda sit/lock in place based off his bumper front. This allows his arms to be posed without some gaps or deviating too much from the CGI in the movie. Still working on a good action display pose, as well as a shelf to display him on.

I just ordered mine from amazon. $61 after a Christmas party winning Amazon card and since it'll be my birthday gift to myself, it seemed like a good price.

That IS a good price. I still don't regret mine from Japan, as he is quite the lovely figure.

Just an FYI, which I don't know if anyone else has had this tightness, but watch out when you go to move his arms. The "shoulders" (read part that his arms come off of in the back) are almost afraid to pose tight, but when the ratcheting clicks those arms don't flop around ...unlike Roadrage's right shin...

I wish the MPM looked a little more like the Studio Series one, with the more hunched shoulder pieces and stability, but I'm excited for him!

I want to try to recreate his first Transformation in RotF. That was a cool shot

Yeah, pieces of his feet are pretty funky...

Otherwise, good pose idea I'm still thinking on mine. I still really love the Mexican standoff scene in DOTM, but it shall wait until I have the shelf space.

How big a fail was this guy? He is going for the super low price of (approximately) $52 on Amazon Japan. Cheaper than both MPM bumblebee's.

It's a figure that looks good in both modes, and that's it. Transformation looks like a nightmare, and things not tabbing in to where they're supposed to is incredibly annoying.

For $52, I'd say go for it if you like the character or the design. Otherwise, just get the Studio Series version with the upgrades. Not only are you getting a better figure, but you also get a much more stable one as well ;)

I'd debate the "Looks good in both modes", the visible toes in truck mode are pretty bad for an MP. Still a better MP than MP44 though IMO.
Might be worth it at $52, since as far as a big movieverse Ironhide goes he seems better proportioned at least slightly less partial-donkeyed than DotM Leader Ironhide.

Just ordered MPM Ironhide from Amazon! I know the figure has some issues, but movie Ironhide is one of my favorite characters and designs in Transformers (possibly only second to movie Bumblebee), and at $45 I'm totally on board.

I'm really excited now to see the next MPMs!

Same! We need Ratchet to finish the first movie bots!

I’ve now opened up and transformed MPM Ironhide. Here’s my thoughts on it:

Starting off, the figure looks great in both modes. Transforming the front section of the truck gets real annoying after a while though, trying to get everything lined up. I was finally able to get pretty close:

Robot mode, again, looks really good! It’s just that the issues with the truck halves not tabbing in anywhere make posing the arms difficult, and the arm panels don’t really connect to the arms securely. This isn’t a problem for the left arm, where the joint on the arm panel is strong enough to support the weight of the cannon. On the other arm though, it’s loose enough that when the cannon is attached it’s very difficult for it to stay close to the arm.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely glad I bought it, but I’m also a huge fan of Movie Ironhide and it was at a good price (45$). If you’re a fan of Movie Ironhide and you can get it for a price around there and you plan on getting some of the other MPMs, I would go for it. However, he’s not on the level of MPM-3 Bumblebee which is super accurate in both modes while also being stable and fun to transform.

If you’re not super into movie Ironhide, you can’t find him at a good price, or you don’t plan on getting any of the other MPMs, go for the Studio Series Ironhide. It does a lot of things better, like cannons which look more integrated into the arms, a chest that locks into place, and no loose parts.

With all that said though, I’m still glad I got it and if I get more MPMs like Ratchet and Starscream in the future, I’ll be really happy to have Ironhide (and Bumblebee) displayed with them.

Nice review, I feel the same.

I do love movie Ironhide and his design. I wish they had executed better with this one. It's also sad that the SS one is actually better

I got that DNA upgrade kit for Ironhide, and it's amazing how much better MPM Ironhide is with his newly stabilized shoulders and wrists. He is really stable and much more fun now
