This thread is for everyone to post their favorite ideas that never happened, or could yet happen. Mostly in reference to remolds/retools/repaints.

I've had a lot of them. Here is the first REALLY good one I remember:

Back when we only had Ultra Class Silverbolt and Onslaught, I wanted Ultra Class figures of Hot Spot and Motormaster. Here is what I wanted:

NEW MOLD Ultra Class Motormaster
- - REMOLD Ultra Class RiD Ultra Magnus
NEW MOLD Ultra Class Hot Spot
- - REMOLD Ultra Class RiD Optimus Prime

And of course, if they wanted to make the effort, the RiD brothers could combine.

I've had a few of these over the years. For example, T30 Doubledealer could easily be repainted into Armada Thrust, and TR Hot Rod would make a great Siren with some retooling. And then this happened... (rant inbound)

When TR was in full swing last year I tried to predict what gimmick Power of the Primes would feature. Ideally, the line would be entirely pretenders - scout-sized "core bots" (featuring very simple conversions) covered in 5mm holes with peg-on "prime armor" to beef them up into proper deluxes. Voyagers would be mega pretenders with larger, transforming armor parts and the leaders would homage the Ultra and Double pretenders by including extra armor or cores. Core bot molds could be shared across every class, with the Legends class being armorless repaints to make up for their larger size. Extra Deluxe-style armor and weapons would replace Titan Masters, allowing you to "build" missing characters by combining them with the Legends. Overall, this concept could incorporate obscure and beloved characters (pretender classics ) and take the customization from CW and TR to even greater heights.

Over time I've drawn up a few excel sheets to plan waves and mold reuses, and planned a few transformations for the cores. Surprisingly, the parts counts were on par with TR legends and deluxes. Then, reaching for the stars, I tried to figure out a way to update Monstructor...

For Monstructor, each figure's prime armor can attach to their beast mode to form a "monster" shell or become part of the combiner. Sure, Scowl and Icepick have giant combiner pegs on their "monster mode" backs, but looking at actual PotP figures (read: grimlock) these compromises aren't far-fetched. While Monstructor's color scheme would have be VERY different, he would probably be CW-compatible. Being made of six "deluxes", at least half of which share parts with other figures, he could be sold at the box set price point rather than a full titan class. Or some random autobots could be bundled with him, who knows.

I know this isn't exactly what you're thinking, but Motormaster as a car carrier would make all the sense in the world. Not only does it work well with his car team members, but the parts making up the trailer could be used as the combined mode parts (maybe even a Menasor that looks more like the cartoon version). It would be a neat take on the character.

I think I already said ten thousand times (in case hasbro reads.. ) my want :

- Repaint/retool CW Hotspot as RiD/Car robots Optimus. Just a new head and a new torso plate.

That's so f**g obvious, I don't understand they missed it. Especially considering they already retooled this mold at least 4 times with less fitting characters.


And to pair with him, : there's already the CW deluxe molds for each of them.

- Breakdown as Mach Alert/Prowl
- Offroad as X-Brawn
- Dead End as Speedbreaker/Side Burn
- Rook as Magnus.


All of these combining with Optimus to form Fire Convoy Super mode.

Both from Power of the Primes:

1) Alpha Trion decoy armor with Vector Sigma Prime Master

2) Retool Orion Pax into Ginrai/Power Master Optimus Prime cab. Retool grill to attach Prime Master as engine. Retool grill on trailer robot to do same or eliminate it and use the grill with attacked Prime Master from cab. No Need for additional Apex Armor/Godbomber. Super Optimus Prime from trailer is enough, and smaller OP from cab is more ideal to me than Orion Pax. As bonus include Masterforce Ginrai decoy armor with Hi-Q Prime Master.

I wouldn't know how "obvious" turning CW Hot Spot into RiD Optimus Prime is. I mean, yeah, they're both ladder trucks, but still. RiD Prime's combiner gimmick was combining with a fellow large toy for an even stronger super mode, not being a combiner torso. Also, you go for "Rook into Ultra Magnus" and not "Drag Strip/Mirage into Skid-Z"? That seems far more natural of a redeco/retool choice, especially since Skid-Z's original toy is not only an F1 but an F1 of very similar styling.

Do you know what seems far more obvious than "Hot Spot to RiD Optimus"? CW G1 Optimus to Energon Optimus, with limb robots based on his drones to combine with for the super mode.

But speaking of the CW Hot Spot/Onslaught mold I think that would have been a better base for PotP Elita than PotP Starscream since she turns into some sort of car or truck in the cartoon. But hey, at least she's getting a Voyager toy.

In the category of "Good idea but a pipe dream": Making a brand-new CW Motormaster that looks and transforms more like the G1 toy so that he can have a better torso mode, and redoing CW G2 Menasor in the correct colors instead of looking at some moron's fan digibash.

A more realistic version of the first of those: retooling the CW Motormaster/Optimus mold to replace the tab that connects his foreams to his upper arms with a mushroom peg so that the connection can better take the weight of the limb robots.

I just want the Optimus Prime / Omega Prime part, but I've always loved this idea and mentioned it back during CW.

Here's one that I haven't typed up before -

Take Battle Core Optimus Prime - and redeco to more of a white Ultra Magnus.

Build a new trailer.

But this trailer can split apart into two arms and two legs.

Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus - that actually fits the combiner gimmick.


OR take what ExciKaiser wrote up, switch up Magnus into someone else from Car Robots, and take the CW Optimus/Motormaster mold and turn him into Ultra Magnus for the pissed off brother that will steal the Autobot brothers + 1 more for his own combiner.

Titans Return Ultra Magnus

Minimal re-tooling? Take CW Ultra Magnus' trailer and TR Powermaster Optimus Prime's cab. Re-do the helmet/head. Re-do the colors. Turn Minimus Ambus into a Titan Master.

I've said it in other threads, but a new Transmetal Cheetor would be easy to do from the Titans Return Wolfwire mould. All you'd have to do is swap out the wolf head and tail for feline ones, remold the face on the Titanaster's back, and I'm sure it would look fine. Then you could get use out of the retool by repainting it into Tigatron or BW Ravage.

Come to think of it, there are a few Beast Era themed repaints you could do with the Titans Return Deluxes; Nightscream from Mindwipe, Alligator Megatron from Skullsmasher, a really low-effort Transmetal 2 Megatron from Twinferno, the possibilities aren't exactly endless, but they're still there.

I think it would be cool if made the Classic Pretenders. They could do the original four as Titan Masters and come up with new ones for new Prime Master power ups. Just a small thing they could do at that small price point to add play value all around.

Although doing them all as PM power ups would be cool, too, like making Jazz a speaker in PM mode. I think I'd want two of those, although that would be a neat way to use Rumble and Frenzy, with both PM's becoming a speaker and the weapon for the decoy armor turning into a pile driver.

I think people would stock up on Starscream Titan Masters to build a seeker army. Just a few ideas to keep that lower price point open. This could also be another way to add Sweeps heads. Plus I love the decoy armors that work well as weapons.

When I thought Titans Return could still have space for Apeface and Snapdragon I honestly thought an obvious repaint/retool choice would have been Optimal Optimus and Beast Wars Megatron. It just seemed like such an obvious and thematic mold reuse but I suppose these are unlikely given we won't see the Horrorcons and that Primal got an updated toy now.

Plus, Warden loathe Beast Wars and all that.

I think it's not a problem of space/idea.. but more a design problem.

Both of them works "~fine" because of G1 blockiness/lack of articulation.
But converting them to current technology/articulation will be extremely complicated.
Look how people hate the new Predaking and the sacrifice which has been made for it to work (leg in the back etc). It'll be the same with a new ApeFace/Snapdragon.

Maybe we'll get them one day, but they'll require careful planning/ engeenering.

I'm starting to wonder if the thighs could have been disconnected from the key base near the top via a slider joint or something like it. The engineering is what it is, but I find the end execution possibly lazy, much like Devastator. Still, Predaking looks leagues better than Devastator.



Back on topic, maybe my idea above with the Classic Pretenders, etc. could be called Action Masters? I mean, that's what they are.

I'd personally go with the old Mega Pretender set-up: have a little Legion-sized robot go inside a little compartment in a Voyager-sized Pretender with its own alt mode. For instance, I'm picturing Landmine with an inner robot based on the G1 toy, and a Pretender that's a cross between his G1 shell and Cybertron Landmine, with a bulldozer alt mode.

An interesting idea, but expensive, but doable at voyager.

I just want more of the smaller ones because they are cheap and easy to collect and can be heads or power ups and I like that they turn into weapons. But if the fan interest in a real pretender line is there I definitely think should make it.
