What happened to clobber the autobot?
Was lugnut not available?
Just have to call it what I like when I get what looks like the best figure of the 5.

Clobber is the female version of lugnut on the show.

From what I understand, Clobber was going to be a gender-swapped Lugnut early in production of season 2 (she's even still called Lugnut in some foreign language dubs), but she got a name change and was re-worked into her own character by the time season 2 was ready to air.
Either way, I like that Clobber's toy has made her even more distinct from Lugnut by having a different vehicle mode (has it been in the show? I haven't seen every episode yet). I haven't touched the Cyberverse line at all so far, and I'm only really planning on getting the Deluxes, but if Ultra Clobber turns out to be a quality figure I may get one.

Is it funny that I always thought lugnut was a female robot?

Oh dear lord. What in the actual fok is that vehicle mode?
I can understand the backpack on the bots to accomodate the gimmick, but most if not all still have good altmodes. But that Optimus truck? Please, someone... End it's sufferings...

Image

Clobber is very, very neat! Like Lugnut's little brother who chose a cyber-tank mode instead of a bomber. This is one that I may be buying.
EDIT: Clobber is female? Why? There's absolutely nothing in that bot design that hint at anything female. Unless that robot is... non-binary. ;)

Thrust is 'female' in the show too, just didnt get a name swap (the shows worth a watch if just for a certain wheeljack/shockwave scene). Liking the lugnutz/clobber and getting a beast machines feel from it.
Optimus truck mode looks pretty bad but it kind of looks more star convoyish than the selects star convoy some how.

Wait what? Pretty sure Thrust is male. Acid Storm is the one that changed gender (and keeps changing gender throughout season 1)

Pretty sure the red with gold trims none cone head seeker was called thrust and had a female voice but its hard to keep track when there is that many of them in the show.

All I know is I just watched the latest episodes and Thrust, a red seeker, is in there referred to by name and is male.

Turns out you're both right. Japan made Thrust female, in an inversion of convention. He's still male in the US, and Nova Storm is the second female Seeker in Cyberverse. Acid Storm being made gender fluid... ugh, I hate it when it's used as a cover-up for continuous mistakes. #-o

On the side, some male cartoon characters are indeed voiced by women, and vice-versa. Not a strange thing to encounter.

Well, women ARE all about "boobs and curves". It is so since dawn of times and it's an inescapable fact.

If you meant "Barbie curves", then yeah. But there must be something "female" proportion wise. Because here, we get large and wide shoulders and small legs, typical of cartoony muscle men. Also, that face have a huge man-chin, not helping "her" case.

I'm seeing a decent amount of articulation on Clobber, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows and hands, no neck from what I can tell. But seeing as how the others don't even have their own legs, I'd say I know which figure got most of the budget. She's a definite buy. Lugnut and Strika have a daughter now... just don't ask me how.

HEADCANON ACCEPTED!
Also, yes, there's definitely knees here. A miracle!

She got her daddy's looks and her mamma's alt-mode. ha ha

Seriously though, I think the original shockwave is the only other ultimate class with knees.

Wasn't the last shockwave an ultra class? From what i remember, ultimate class is the equal of leader sized toy, and all of them so far has knees.

Also, what is up with that optimus? I know they always make sacrifice for gimmick, but my god, the 1st ultimate clasd optimus suddenly looks masterpiece-ish compared to that.

And is clobber always a tank in the show? I don't watch cyberverse much so i don't exactly remember.

Reading all these posts about who's male and who's female makes me realize how few of you are actually watching the show, which saddens me since Season 2 is really good, a major step up from the already decent first season.

Anyway, Clobber has lips in the show, which are missing from this toy.

Image

Also, Acid Storm appears as only female during season 2, which suggests that they've finally settled on that for her.

As for Thrust, he has only ever been male in the show. The early season 1 episodes in which he and Acid Storm were seen talking in vehicle mode with one of their voices being female was Acid Storm's voice as said dialogue was provided by Acid Storm's voice actress, Jamie Lamchick, whereas Thrust is voiced by Tomas Virgadula. This initial confusion is probably what led to Thrust being dubbed as a female in the Japanese version, though that version also renamed him "Red Wing" likely because of his lacking a conehead like what both Ramjet and Dirge do have in the show.

Anyway, my biggest question about these new toys is why Clobber was made into a tank when her robot mode has aspects of a bomber plane built into it like what the original Lugnut turned into.

I've only seen up to Ep 5 of Season 2, but I thought I remembered Acid Storm having the male appearance at one point while speaking with the female (and so far only) voice? And then in the next scene and/or episode they appeared in, having switched back to the female appearance?

EDIT: upon looking through for the scene I'm talking about, it was the scene in Episode 4 where the Seekers, including Thundercracker, are carrying the Vector Sigma-lookin thing; the other Seeker that speaks has a primarily cyan color scheme that, under the yellow light emanating from what they're carrying, looked Acid Storm's shade of green. But while the Seeker has the male face model, their line is delivered by Acid Storm's voice actress, and the actress is credited as Acid Storm for that episode despite no Seeker with Acid Storm's colors appearing in the episode, so..... shrug.

After being bored to death by Robot In Disguise and being completely disappointed by Combiner Wars, I stopped watching TF shows entirely.

Looking at the screenshot above, Clobber definitely have female features in her design. Too bad the toy don't reproduce that at 100%.

Unlike RID, Cyberverse has an actual ongoing narrative that each episode builds upon. And unlike Combiner Wars, it isn't of abysmal quality (though, CW does have the more entertaining Megatron).
