I do wish he didn't come with all that "battle damage" deco, but I'll manage. Maybe there will be a special edition release with "clean" paint apps later on down the road. The alt mode is recognizable as Optimus Prime's G1 truck, but with some weird extras, like the stuff on his cab roof. It's not at all ideal, but as you don't see much of that "extra" stuff translated over into robot mode, it's acceptable. Now I'm hoping for a good G1 Voyager Megatron to match.

Too bad that Takara doesn't do its own thing with the CHUG line anymore.. maybe they would have retooled Optimus Prime into a more cartoon-accurate truck. (Like with Powermaster and Ginrai.) But oh well. :))

They all look good, but to earthly for a supposedly cybertronian look. Probably gonna pick them up still.

It looks so very similar in terms of design, aesthetic, and engineering, but the details don't seem to match up quite with any of the Takara Targetmasters from Legends, not even Firebolt. It's very CLOSE to Firebolt, but with some aspects either remolded or new detailing added to the sculpt.

100% new molds. They're much simpler than Takara Tomy's including lacking knees. Judging by the size compared to Sideswipe and Prime they're probably about the same size as a Decoy Armor.

Well I'm liking the worn look of some (presumably) paint apps, but I don't care for the toys designs. Sideswipe's car form looks kinda neat but the robot mode is uninspired boring old blocky Sideswipe that I was already really tired of even back with my original G1 toy (I only kept it cos the Lambo mode) and looks extremely generic for an Autobot car robot. Prime looks alright in robot mode but that truck might actually be one of my least fave truck modes of any Optimus Prime figure ever. I find it really ugly. Longer smokestacks might have looked nicer in both modes than the stubby ones he has. I might pick that figure up for robot mode if I ever find it cheap. Maybe.

I find it kinda amusing to have firing effect pieces on a targetmaster gun since I kinda already did a similar concept with my Firebolt custom a couple years ago.

Looks like we might have a strong focus on weapon customization... Which... <sarcasm>is my favorite part of Transformers toys</sarcasm>.

Oh dear. The Targetmasters are pretty much the same as Takara's but without knees (or a waist swivel), Prime's truck mode is an unholy mess and he has worse arm kibble than the Classics Voyager, and worst of all, we'll be getting bad customs tier paintjobs as standard.

Wonderful.

I was thinking the same thing, it's basically post-movie "futuristic" updates to the pre-movie cast. Not exactly the hover cars we were expecting. I suppose we could still see flying triangles, I think Warden mentioned wanting to do those once.

What if the "War for Cybertron" trilogy is actually a continuation of the G1 cartoon story? E.g., it takes place after "The Rebirth"/Season 4. Cybertron is restored to its former glory, and now the Decepticons want it back more than ever. The fight has completely moved away from Earth, so now the Autobots and Decepticons are adopting more appropriately Cybertronian and battle-ready alt modes for their "new" battlefield. It makes sense for Optimus to be back, and perhaps some other G1 characters will be revived too in new forms (or they'll just side-step all of those deaths in the movie altogether). This first part, the "Siege," may be the Decepticon's initial first strike against the Autobots in the recently restored Cybertron.

Oh boy another G1 sub toyline. Its not like the last 3-4 toylines have been all G1 Toys.

Stop ignoring Beast Wars Hasbro. :MAXIMAL:

Dunno if I agree with that. It's fairly tidy in comparison to those huge almost flappy wing like things on Classics Prime. Could be better but heck i dunno...

These look pretty sweet to me. Im not quite understanding all the complaints as they look basically standard Generations we been getting. Awesome we gonna get some more targetmasters, really like my Legends ones. Kinda lame if these dont have knees and such. I cant wait to see that new Impactor with battle damage. As long as they keep it minimal like these I think it will look good. But Impactor deffo needs some battle damage.

Well, that Optimus look pretty bad. Unless on clearance , I might skip it. That Sideswipe though is just PERFECT. As for the prices, I called it. The Generations line will be set at the Movie level after PotP. It had to happen sooner or later. Production cost rise and if we don't want cost cutting measure like what happen on FoC Jazz and still have great figures, we have to bite the bullet and pay the price.

Now these are...interesting, was hoping for less earth inspired alts but c'est la vie. The target masters look interesting and I'm ashamedly loving the plastic effect parts.

I was hoping for wacky Cybertronian modes. I was hoping for something more than G1 VMMCXIVV.78.

Im disappointed.

BUT I do like them. Its not a no from me, but its a wait and see for the rest of the 1st wave. Two decent Autobots does not a good line make.

I also want to see something other than Season 1&2&Movie characters..

Me too. Oh me too. Because WAY too much characters get ignored. We got some in Titan Return and we got some Pretender love in PotP (plus Abobinus) but there's so much more characters to tap into. Also, why not bring back some of those Japan exclusive like Victory Saber?

We’re amost certainly going to be seeing a Wheeljack, and a Bumblebee would shock no one. BUT my worry is Hasbro is going to be lame and not give us the Cybertronian altmodes for Jacks and Bee we saw in the very beginning of the 84 cartoon.

I’m afraid they’ll just make their earth altmodes slightly wonky and call it good at that. Come on Hasbro you’ve got the source material!

Well that Optimus is essentially what I wanted, he looks great! The truck is interesting looking to me, a bit different - I like it. I'll agree I'm a bit mixed on the battle damage deco but I'll wait to see it in hand. I have to disagree with Black Hat though, his arm kibble looks far more compact and out of the way than Classics Prime, those were like wings on his arms. I'm definitely getting this guy when he comes out, there's definitely a good chance he'll replace Classics Prime and be able to face off against PotP Nemesis on my shelf.

EDIT: Forgot to say it, no intrusive gimmicks on these guys! I like the idea of Targetmasters as a gimmick because it's not going to force awful transformations like PotP Starscream. I love it.

It's a standard Sideswipe aka the king of generic designs and personality in the Transformers Franchise

There isn't really anything that anyone can do to make that design interesting. (Besides the missile pod that he sometimes has which is the only thing that makes Sideswipe standout among other red sport car Autobots)

Even knowing it was likely the case, still a downer to see. Nothing was learned from G.I. Joe, I see.

Anyway, Sideswipe does look fun and so do Targetmasters. I'm all about that Ironhide design hiding in plain sight behind OP, I hope it's real.

You're talking about the illustration, or the toy itself? Because all I can't see it.

I wonder if there will be a game that goes with these. I know Game Informer may have other things, but those weapon names are too detailed. War for Cybertron: Siege does sound like the name of a sequel or spin off to the For Cybertron games released a few years back.

Also, I like the effect parts on the target masters. I guess Power Rangers is not the only thing they are taking from Bandai.

I think I may have finally become tired of G1 reprisals.

We'll see. I sure hope this line doesn't go the way of POTP, and be Hasbro only.

These look beautiful. I was thinking "Oh, I don't think any of the new line will be very worth it for me," but now they've revealed a beautiful Optimus Voyager and a really nice Sideswipe. I definitely want these.
