To this day, Big Convoy in a regular deco has never been released by Hasbro. Collectors who have held off on tracking down the original might finally give in to Takara's rerelease of the mold in their Transformers Encore line. As with every non G1 figure in the encore line, there is a major emphasis on a show accurate decos we never got, making all these Encore toys redecos rather than straight reissues. For those not in the know, Big Convoy is the leader during the Beast Era in a show that was only made for Japan, called Beast Wars Neo, and thus has no English name counterpart.

He turns into a Wooly Mammoth and is one of the most complex Beast era Transformers. He is also the first toy to be released with a Matrix accessory. Hasbro did release the mold as a black redeco and fun pub released it in a blue deco as Ultra Mammoth. We can see see this Encore release on display at Wonderfest, in Japan, right now along with the aforementioned Ultra Mammoth which is just there for reference purposes as the most recent release of the mold.

As with all Encore products since Takara's move out of G1, this will undoubtedly be a pricey release and we will give you more details when we have them. He is sure to have a nice box though.

I wish they'd bring back e-Hobby exclusives already and continue Magna Convoy and Convobat's story, they really left us hanging there. I still want a blue TR Astrotrain and I hope Takara Tomy does give us a slightly tweaked blue Big Convoy at some point somehow.

I'm definitely getting Big Convoy, he definitely has a place in my collection and I don't have any version of the mold yet.

Right that's another one to add to my want list, always wanted big convoy, does this mean lio convoy encore is on the cards?

Yeah me too. Although as the post says, it can sure drain the life out of someone's life savings. I do prefer the brighter colors on this mold. It makes him look more like a Convoy.

Ok......so is there a reason for the dinobots artwork in the background? Can I get overexcited and speculate as to a possible hint of them being in MP line up in the future?? ....here's to praying before the cybertronian creators

Probably just display art meant to decorate the Transformers booth.

The Legend Commander Collection version was pretty show-accurate (and a much better mold overall, and more show-accurately scaled towards the much bigger Galvatron).

Yeah, I know, but I have a dream that one day they will surprise me with them in the MP line.....
I feel they do need to bring a new, bigger version of Grimlock too....

yep, even after all these years, all that beast kibble in robot mode irritates me. Me no like Big Kibble.

I like the deco on the Matrix, but I think I actually prefer the paint apps on the original. While I give props to the figure being show-accurate and having colors that "pop," the muted transparent and grays of the original just seem more fitting for a Transformer. Just my opinion, anyway.

I have the Korean release of the original...and the Target exclusive Nemesis Prime, and Ultra Mammoth, but may just have to quadruple-dip for this guy.

Hopefully enough positive reaction to this show-accurate deco might lead to a wider DVD release of said show.

That's... not how it works, but rest assured, the English-speaking world will soon have its long overdue fill of Beast Wars Neo in a fully understandable format.

Just ordered one off AmiAmi. I feel like I need to get RM Lio Convoy to go with this and my RM Beast Convoy. I think the RM figures scale better with him since he's a bit short than you'd expect someone with "big" in their name to be.

I still need to track down the robot masters, I just don't know what a good going rate is for them

For Lio Convoy, I recommend getting the one from Legend Commander Collection instead. Its deco is both nicer and lacks the tampographed Autobot symbol that both of the RobotMasters ones had. And its much easier to track down for more affordable prices that either of the RobotMasters versions.

There's even one on Amazon.com right now for less that $60 USD and with free shipping.
