Trypticon's Hips

Hi all,
This is my first post here, so I apologize if I have posted in the wrong area, or have posted a long burned out topic!
So I have just ordered a Titans Return Trypticon for my kids' Chritmas present. I was kind of aware of the hip issue before, and I have read up on some of the fixes. My question is, should I attempt a fix before they even use it on Christmas day, or should I just wait and see if it needs a fix?
I guess I'm also asking by extension, what has been your experience with the hips? That sounds odd to day outloud.
Thanks for the help community.

The hip issue with TR Trypticon was only with the earliest releases, Hasbro and TakaraTomy caught the error and fixed it for later runs. One later run in particular has towers with asymmetric detailing, meaning they're not mirror images. If you have one of those, you should be safe, but still, exercise caution when handling the hips and the tail.

First thing I'd do is work out what batch it's from (you can find that on the box) and then check this post here (there's probably a more extensive list out there somewhere)

If you need to fix yours, then do it before the big day. Some reports from when he first appeared basically destroyed the hips, you don't want that.

It's a relatively easy process. I did mine without even checking to see if it needed or not, just to be on the safe side.

Thank you so much for the help. So it just arrived and has the batch number 71801. From what I can tell that number may have tail issues. We shall see

So, thanks again for the help. I have just checked the hips before assembling him, and sure, they are a little tight to rotate, but not really that hard. I can turn them with just the force of my forefinger and thumb. Does that sound good to you guys? Batch number was 71801 which I think should be ok

I'd say so! I can't say I've ever tried it myself, I normally just grab them with my chubby hands and wrench!

It's good that you checked. I imagine that weakening the springs on a later-batch Trypticon would, on top of being unnecessary, actually cause a new problem in the form of floppy-leggedness
