Issue/Question re: RTS Jazz

I finally got my hands on Reveal the Shield Special Ops Jazz. However, he suffers from a floppy chest even when I put the windshield into the position that's supposed to lock it into place. I was flummoxed until I saw a photo of someone else demonstrating it that makesit look like my Jazz might be missing a piece.

Can anyone tell me if there's something missing?

And if there's nothing missing, then what's the problem?

I swear, sometimes I feel like I'd be better off asking Hasbro's customer support for help with these things

Bumping because I feel it may have been lost in all the recent excitement

UPDATE: Looking at pics of the Wheelie redeco, my Jazz seems to have everything, so what gives?

The hood/chest on that mold doesn't actually clip or lock in anywhere. Its held in by the hinge friction.

It's entirely possible, the hinge is just lose from use.

Judging from the top of the car, it looks like Jazz has had his ass kicked by some kids. So, a loose joint is very likely.

I'm pretty sure Zelda got it from someone who stripped off the tampos to do a custom, then abandoned the project before completing it, so I don't think that's the issue.

I have the SG Stepper version of the mold, it does not lock. The chest sort of floats there, doesn't tab in

That's exactly right. And sadly Reprolabels' set is only an upgrade set, so there's no replacement for the stripped 4s.

I know the chest itself doesn't lock in...

Would you please elaborate on this? I also thought the hood/chest had to flop in robot mode.

The roof has a swivel you need to adjust upwards and lift so it locks into place in these grooves behind the hood. :BOT:!

...But seeing this in the "Things our Transformers can do that you never realized" thread made me wonder if something was missing or if there was something I was overlooking with the roof.

Granted, using the roof to keep the hood chest in place could be considered an improvisation, AFAIK nothing physically "locks" (i.e. there's nothing to keep the mechanism from moving). But considering the circumstances it should be "good enough". :)

But it's not, on mine; it's still flopping. Maybe it is a loose joint thing

The hinge joint on mine was tight, tight enough to hold the weight in any position. Yours have been tinkered with, so I suspect the pin was not inserted back in correctly.

On mine too. Though mine is the Ultimate Gift Set Jazz.

Speaking of the "Ultimate Gift Set" Jazz, does it bug anyone else that he's much more vaguely G2 Jazz inspired than G2 Jazz toy accurate? What was Hasbro trying to go with there?

Same flavor but playing more on the music motif maybe? Possibly coupled with an aversion to rainbow tampographs.

This, most likely.

Yeah. I mean, they were evidently averse to even just including the light blue pinstriping on Jazz's regular decal tampos, and that's just one extra color. So it would make sense that they'd be really averse to rainbow pinstriping!
