Interesting comparison with LG54 Bumblebee, from @MKstsk --

I have to admit, the vehicle mode is growing on me, a little more since Spike can actually fit inside, but I still don't like that robot mode. And definitely not for what it costs.

That pretty impressive to see a vehicle that is almost scout sized becoming a deluxe bot. Also the TR legend Bee is so bad that MP-45 look amazing beside him.

Those pictures above make the robot mode look a little better.

If a 3P company makes its own version, one with a better transformation / parts-integration then I hope that they'll take notes from Takara's head-sculpt.

There is no saving the back end of those feet, but I've made peace with the rest.

Man oh man, after reading the comments and seeing the photos this is really surprising that a Masterpiece toy fails to live up to the idea of the word.

The backpack looks ok but his odd window heels are gigantic from the side and rear and the split section yellow plastic on his front windshield is also bad design.

Paco Grande posted the MP-45 centered page from the latest TFG book. The top illustration is the ideal robot-mode before they work out the transformation (for example, see Ultra Magnus and Megatron below) -- but that bottom sketch, where is that Bumblebee? Look at the compact feet and back.



I'd love to see a chibi-beetle with transformation like MP-21 (using the real parts) and the MP-45 head-sculpt.
