I'm reminded of the days where vintage MISB G1 Optimus Primes were put on eBay for $5000 USD.

I still see toys, of all brands, and from all era's at stupidly high insane prices. I'm not sure what the logic is. If they hope some rich person will just "buy it now" without doing research or what...

I've been watching a couple items for several months, they slowly creep down in price occasionally. But I would think paying months and months worth of listing fees would eventually make the item not worth selling.

It all depends on how big or small scale they are as sellers. Ebay commonly gives out seller incentives like no Listing fees for your first 50 or 100 Listings within a month or something similar, so there is a good chance these ridiculously high listings are not costing them anything. I haven't paid a Listing fee in over a year because of this.

That's true, I guess it's when you actually sell something that they stick-it to you. I'm not a power seller by any means, but the last few items I sold, while there were no listing fees, it seems like almost 25% of the profit went to eBay. Also, since they broke off working with PayPal, getting paid is more of a pain as well.

Yeah, I haven't sold anything since they cut ties with Paypal. Sorry eBay, I just don't trust you with my bank info.

I actually got a second head from ebay. Never asked why the seller was selling just the head, but there it is.

Maybe Unicron fell and broke or something and now they're selling what they can. It's weird that it's just the stand and not the base, though.

Maybe the base is what broke? Weird in any case because I would guess the market of people who may want it is extremely small (possibly zero).

A discussion in the Studio Series 86 thread got me to try something with my Unicron.

I took a few random large Headmaster heads and placed each of them on top of Unicron's body, in lieu of Unicron's own noggin. The heads of Titan class Scorponok, Titan class Grand Maximus (TR Fort Max mold), and Car Robots Brave Maximus (G1 Fort Max mold) all just sit very loosely on Uncron's body, as expected.

BUT, the Robots in Disguise 2001 Megatron Megabolt mold (the one based on Beast Machines Megatron's big floating head) actually sits rather snuggly on Unicron's body. I tried it both with and without the spider legs, and the legs actually help to secure it in place! The rear legs rotated upward line up rather well with Unicron's collar, the middle legs rotated to point backward wrap around the collar's front edges, and the front legs just rest on the top of Unicron's chest.

This means that one of (if not the) most accomplished Megatrons ever has a toy that can actually interact with the Unicron toy in a somewhat decent fit, allowing him to appear to possess Unicron's body, yeeeeesss.

I realize these are posted in reverse order, but it looks like you are sending Unicron away.

Only 14 months late but I finally have pics of this (along with some Beast Machines Megatron quotes to set the mood):

"I have mastered the secrets of [Unicron], and now, no force in the universe can prevent my ascension!"

"I alone will rule all Transformers, past, present, and future!"

"My great ascension is finally complete! YEEESSS!!!"

"Now, I alone control the fate of Cybertron!!!"

Better late than never, Thew has finally done a review of HasLab Unicron (and other Unicron toys before and after it):

Yeah, I saw that review and I REGRET NOTHING in not backing that giant. Titans are barely playable. Just imagine that unweldly HASLAB Unicron.

Also, is it just me to see an easy repaint of Bludgeon into that Cybertron deluxe Unicron? Maybe I should buy it and make it myself. :-?

I am in an odd position. I have no regrets in not backing it either. But for me it just came down common sense. I had neither the funds nor the space for it, and that's fine. Still it is an impressive fear of toy engineering.

If I did have both of those however, I probably would have backed it, And been good with thIss well.

Some of the community might turn their noses up at 3P (which is a uniquely TF issue anyway) but they did Unicron better and it cost a lot less.

I do love how unintentionally versatile Megabolt continues to be. The newest one in particular, seems very apt in light of the original scale of the Grand Mal.

I have that 3P figure (plus its ring extension upgrade kit) and, while it does look nice in both modes and is much easier to carry around, it is also way more fragile in both modes and a total nightmare to transform. The HasLab one may be enormous and have all of the downsides that Thew goes over, but it is far more stable, sturdy, and less likely to break than the 3P one.

I do recall the Emgo review of the 3P and even he cited that the Transformation isn't fun. But at the same time, the fragility issues are technically relative. You're not going to be "playing" with a Transformer this big, heavy and expensive. A size beyond Titan Class is intended for display. That's why it was foolish to make in the first place. Making it a head or so taller than Fort Max
would have been more than sufficient. Especially considering the altmode would have made him look considerably larger than the other Titans regardless.

It's one of the reasons I think the current Ridiculous Class 3P Fort Max is going to be the most stupid release yet. As I've said many times before. There is a scale wherein they cease to be "figures" and become cosplay. HasLab Unicron is basically an expensive ornament, with articulation.
