Non-Traditional Titan Class Ideas, Speculation and Wishful Thinking

Going back to Metroplex, we've seen the Titan Class run along at a nice clip and it now includes updated versions of most of the traditionally thought of characters that need big toys.

I think it's a given by now that at some point a Titan Class Scorponok is inevitable, but that's a character that I'd classify as a "traditional" choice for the Titan Class price point.

Ignoring repaint possibilies like Black Zarak, Gigastorm or Brave Maximus, what's there to do after that? I wouldn't be shocked to see a Metroplex re-do, but after even that it's tough to imagine novel choices for this big price slot in the Generations lineup.

This thread is to toss out ideas for crazy Titan Class characters that don't fit in the "traditional" G1 Big Stuff category. It can also be a place to drool over imaginary things that will never happen in this size class like my wishful thinking of Armada Tidal Wave or your impossible dreams of Animated Omega Supreme Ark. Go nuts, this is not the place to toss out realiatic ideas unless you want to.

I'll kick it off with a fun idea - The Axalon. Converts from Maximal Starship to a slightly modified "base mode" and also to... hmm. What do you do for the bot mode? Some big dumb Vok thing? Unicron's disembodied head? No, we get weird:

Titan Axalon, let's [not] do this! Whatcha got out there?

My non-traditional picks would ideally stem from reclassification.

These two should be Titan Class.

Broadside doesn't work as a figure. The disparity between his three forms is too great. So what would fix a lot of his problems? Upscaling!

Both Tidal Wave and Broadside are Carriers. Yet too small to service anything other than mini-vehicles and smaller. A carrier as long as a the span of a City Bot Titan, would help both of these characters fulfil their concept designs.

^ totally into both of those! A big Titan Broadside is certainly a dream to me, it'd be so cool to have Aerialbots, Powerglide and Alpha Bravo chillin on his deck.

Someone who's totally, and I mean totally, in need of an upgrade. The epitome of big, boxy, and big: Grandus

A few ideas

Carrobots/RID Megatron/Galvatron Big Dragon, big hands, whats not to like.

Seekers that can fit GI Joes as pilots whilst still being able to transform.

Galvatron in Unicron suit

Hightide from rescuebots

& although these would be commander class if they were fully functioning versions or at least SD card slots they would likely be titan price, the console bots (megadrive, ps2, a snes) or a Xbox 360 metroplex to join Megatron and Prime.

Remember the giant sod-off huge energon transports from FOC? A transforming one of those would be absolutely awesome. IIRC they were even going to transform before the idea got scrapped. Actually, transforming versions of ships in general would be cool. The Nemesis, the Miranda II (which TBH had a nice design considering how bad Energon was)...

Oh, and before I forget, Orcanoch and the Arachnid Base from BW. Colossal robot spider with a base mode? Yes please! (Also a Razorbeast toy that looks as good as his name sounds.)

A titan class Skylinx. Those little figures need a shuttle to get them around in style. :MAXIMAL:

The Ark. With the robot mode and face of The Last Autobot.

Or just the Last Autobot, with his comic-accurate alt mode.

This. Although I'd include the Nemesis, Axalon, and Darksyde.

Put me down as well for Animated Omega Supreme. Bonus points if he comes with a new Ratchet and we finally get a Sari figure.

Ooh, yeah this would be great. Could even double-dip (1.5x dip?) and use the shuttle part for an Astrotrain?

This is so nuts it would work great. Sign me up!

I love this idea so much. Wish the comic material got half the attention the Sunbow minutiae has been getting.

Tidal Wave i'd rather have as commander than titan.

Unicron (and maybe Primus) as titans so there'd be something bigger than the older versions but not as high priced/needing crowdfunding/preorders as the Haslab version.

much as I liked the combiner wars combiners, most of them could use titan redos so they don't look like shrimps compared to Devastator (who was really one of the smaller g1 combiner toys). Granted, guys like Defensor and Bruticus are never going to be very right in scale due to the original members' altmodes including motorcycles and spaceshuttles as limbs, but I think a big Superion titan would be cool, with the limbs about voyager size and Silverbolt about the size of the old ultra chug. A Motormaster having the trailer and being as big as a trailered Optimus, too.

I've mentioned Sky Lynx and the Last Autobot on previous lists so I fully support that idea. SL could come with a Micromaster or two, maybe Barrage and Heave or Missile Master and Moonrock. TLA could come with large Deluxe Optimus Prime with a robot mode that looks a bit like his Action Master self like in the comic. Plus I like my comic-style characters to all be roughly the same size since Marvel didn't care much for scale so there's a good argument for a Deluxe Optimus existing.

This. I think a Titan Primus would be the best way to celebrate the 40th anniversary in 2024, though they would certainly need to come up with a third form (like the Cybertron figure) to keep things interesting. They can then later do a Titan Unicron for the 40th anniversary of the movie.

I'm going to throw Star Convoy in as an option as well. Yeah, we're getting a Leader soon, but that figure makes a lot of compromises as a retool. We're really stretching what characters should be Titans and while Grandus often gets mentioned people forget that Star Convoy and Sky Garry are roughly the same size or taller depending on the reference art (definitely the toys). Star Convoy also has the benefit of being Optimus Prime, an instantly recognizable character that would easily sell to both casual fans, kids, and parents alike. Toss in a Micromaster Hot Rod or a Deluxe Hot Rod that transforms like the Micromaster and I think it'd be a big seller.

I'd love to see Siege Omega with a redeco into the Countdown base. Could double as an Omega Sentinel, but have the inner tank serve as the detachable skiff from the original base. Add in some Micromaster compatibility features. Forego the tank track for various ramps to accentuate the base mode.

As a G1 comic fan, I would love to see a Titan Class Underbase Starscream.

If we're talking about combiners that need huge toys, Rail Racer would be first on my list. I can't find any good screenshots that show his combined mode compared to buildings, but here's his components:

Yes, a Titan-sized bridge that turns into a...bridge with hands, knees and a face! Must come with a legends-sized Straxus and legends-sized Blaster. Just like Underbase Starscream should come with a tiny Optimus and a tiny Scorponok.

Zeedust, would the Titan figure be JRX (Rail Racer), or the individual bots? Because if the individual bots were Titans and then combined, that would be a huge and awesome bot!

I think having JRX/Rail Racer as the titan would be enough. The individual Bullet Trains would still be pretty big as a result.

They already did the Supreme version for Galaxy Force/Cybertron, so I'm not sure another giant Starscream is that far outside of the box.
