It's definitely not gonna be mainline, but I'm not sure it'll be Selects either. Some people are speculating this was gonna be the SDCC exclusive. I'm betting it'll end up like the toy-colors Refraktor pack, as a non-Selects fan channel exclusive.

I speculate it going to be a netflix toy

Maybe? But I just don't see them putting "Dead Optimus Prime" on the shelf in the TOY SECTION between the Power Rangers and the TMNT figures. I feel like thats a Class Action from some Karen Parentgroup just WAITING to happen.

I'm still hoping for a Toxitron redeco of this. Probably not going to happen though. Earthrise Nemesis Prime I hope is at least on the horizon at some point. SG Prime would also be awesome as well.

Given that Nemesis Prime was technically a Takara Tomy figure, we haven't really seen Hasbro do a redeco of the Siege Optimus beyond the special edition. I'd love to have a Toxitron Shattered Glass or even Nova Prime out of their Siege Optimus or the ER one. I could absolutely see Nova Prime as a redeco of the Galaxy Convoy figure. I doubt it will happen at this point but I think it would work nicely.

You know what, a Toxitron redeco would also be welcomed by me

Wouldn't he have to be a tanker in order to be Toxitron?

That's why I'm kinda hoping for a proper Leader-class G2 Laser Prime soon, not just cuz I'm very unsatisfied with the Octane pre-tool one we got in TR, but also because it could then be retooled into a proper Scourge and Toxitron.

The negative feedback on this is kinda depressing. We've been begging Hasbro for a G1 accurate trailered Prime for years. MP was the only option. And Hasbro has never released a Sleep Mode Prime, so to think we may be getting this, and people are complaining about it, makes me remember why I left the boards to begin with.

I mean, it seems pretty niche, I've never seen anyone asking for this on the boards, I know that I don't give a crap about it, and definitely won't be buying it, and I think that knowing this is going to be depriving a release slot from another more interesting redeco, I think it just has a lot of people disappointed

I've never really understood the "sleep mode" deco when it was first seen as an MP. Overall, I think the reaction to Earthrise has been pretty positive, but I just can't bring myself to be excited about a toy based on the time OP turned grey for a minute. And there's a lot they could do to get me to buy a special edition of this thing.

Like a premium deco. Or a remould based off Dark Awakening. But ... not really dead OP.

Not necessarily. The only Toxitron that was a tanker truck was the one that never saw release. The ones that did were all non-tanker trucks:

The Animated version actually just reminded me of how there's that rumored RID Optimus Prime. I think Toxitron could come from that because it'd be the Animated reference, plus it'd be a decent way to make him look slightly more unique than just "green Optimus Prime" because of the armored up mode.

And now I've made myself sad because A) RID Prime is very likely to be a much worse version of the original because they'll probably just reuse Siege Magnus's core bot, and B) Toxitron's very unlikely to ever be made by Hasbro when they can just reuse it to be Nemesis Prime, the more well known one

I don't know about Scourge, that name is most likely reserved for the Galvatron lackey (whom I hope we get a voyager of) so if we get a black tanker, he would have to be named something else or released under a different line (Selects or 3rd part of WFC).

Lately, any new toys of his have been mostly Takara initiatives, so if another one happens, it'd probably come from Takara and be named "Black Convoy".

Looks like I'll end up with a version of this mold after all. On another note, this toy of a corpse comes with his own coffin!

Yeah, I remembered that as soon as I made the post.

Always thought a nice battle damaged sleep mode / zombie prime would be an interesting deco for some to have.

I wouldn't go out of my way to get it if I already had the mould, but if I hadn't already gotten it, I would've been tempted

Definitely one of the more amusing redecos, if this is legit. Maybe they'd do Sleep Mode Ironhide and Sleep Mode Prowl.

If beast wars can have a water feature playset they could build a smoke machine into prowl :)

Sleepy primes not for me but if they ever revisit crayola convoy then I'm in for one of those.

A few thoughts immediately come to mind:

1. Movie-inspired Battle damage would make it way more appealing
2. I don't see the point of the trailer for a figure based off one scene where he's laying on a table without the trailer, seems like you could've sold more without it no?
3. I'm surprised this exists before Nemesis, or even SG
4. I could see this as the planned SDCC exclusive

Allegedly, it has a new headsculpt with battle damage from the movie.

Unfortunately, the trailer is gangmolded with the cab. And, we can use the trailer as the bed upon which Prime dies (and which can then fold up into his own rolling coffin).

"Sleep mode"? Ugh. The bots and cons were offline for millennia aboard the crashed Ark, and I don't recall them turning grayscale during that time. Call it what it is: Corpse Mode Prime.

First Gen wrote:Hasbro has never released a Sleep Mode Prime, so to think we may be getting this, and people are complaining about it, makes me remember why I left the boards to begin with.

I don't think Hasbro has ever released a seafoam/coral decoed Optimus Prime, either, but that doesn't mean people should feel obligated to like it if they did, especially when there are other desirable decos out there that most people have not had access to.

And an *action* figure of a dead guy is inherently just... Kinda dumb. You can't even argue 'he's a zombie' because Optimus is back in his normal colors in "Dark Awakening".

Dead-Optimus on a medical cot would make for a good accessory in a movie-themed gift set, but all he needs is neck articulation and a light-up removable matrix. A $50 figure of a very, thoroughly, completely dead Transformer seems like a waste. And unless it's got busted up antennae, cracked windows, and a gaping abdominal wound, it's not even screen accurate.

There's a retailer listing for an "Alternate Universe Optimus Prime" on Amazon, and people think it could be an SG Prime. It could also be a RiD 2001 Optimus that was hinted at by a leaker on TFW2005 who got a ton of other stuff right, like Doubledealer and Arcee (he implied it was RiD OP, but wouldn't give a definitive answer).

SG or Shattered Glass an alternate universe where the :BOT: and :CON: roles are reversed :SG-BOTS: and :SG-CONS:
