This is potentially very cool news! Bring on MP Trainbots, sounds like a blast to me.

In which case, it's better to start high, then dumb down until a more desirable price point can be reached.

So yeah probably will be like unite warriors Devesator then. We'll find out soon enough anyway...now how many people would be annoyed if Hasbro imported it for the 2022 titan bug removed elbows from the individual robots :P

I'd be surprised yet annoyed. Surprised that Hasbro actually takes an explicit interest in trains, let alone foreign models, annoyed they'd be out of my price range either way

I really want to see what happens with this, this sounds exciting! Raiden gets an update, and it's basically an MP!

Raiden was THAT popular in Japan that the character is the first MP combiner?

I know it's been discussed several times, but do the owners of Mortal Kombat have TM over any toys with the name Raiden? Or in Hasbro Markets would this just be given the generic name Rail Racer?

I was surprised that the main University City of the Netherlands, Leiden, was the top search result for the katakana.

Trains are a really big deal in Japan. Mainly the Shinkansen and especially the Dr. Yellow variants which are rare to spot.

Hasbro will try for Raiden. If anything, we'll get "Trainbot Raiden" to be as strong as possible among all the other things and characters called "Raiden". It's worth noting that in Mortal Kombat the name is spelled "Rayden" in console ports, comics, films and TV series.

I blame Mortal Kombat for people's constantly mispronouncing Raiden's name.

Yeah I know it's more of a Rye (like the bread) first syllable. It can even be have an "l" sound option (lye den).

But being a fan of Super Robots, there's also Raydeen (Pronounced Lye deen or Rye deen) which has had 3 wildly different interpretations in anime so I get it.

The mispronunciation also ruins the fun but likely accidental pun on the Trainbot combiner's name in that, not only does it mean "Lightning and Thunder", but it also sounds just like the English word "riding" minus the G on the end (so, "ridin'"), as though to say that his passengers are "ridin' Raiden". :P

Well, I don't get it, but oh well. If Takara releases these one at a time, its gonna make it real easy to save money by not buying MPs for the next two years..... :(

This is most likely gonna be something closer to uw devs or selects piranha combiner than 6 mp 44's

If I was a betting man, I'd put money down on the UW style release. Also I learned how to pronounce Raiden from a different video game series...Sega's Virtual On series of games. Raiden was a mainstay of the games.

It could be rather pricey, but at least it is not another fraking Bumblebee or Optimus Prime...or redeco of something else that we already have. But I hope it would be MP one, since other official hastak toylines are rather meh to me.

Then......that isn’t MP, and the whole thing is moot.

It will be mp and then we will have a generations figure which will eventually waste a generations slot if it gets made (much like a star sabre would). No doubt its going to be overpriced but hopefully the zeta one will offer an alternative tho I'm leaning towards official if its going to be the only version I have of him. Will still be hoping it gets a G1 reissue at some point

Agreed on Raiden, but Star Saber? Come on, we still need one in the Generations line, even if the MP is CHUG scaled.

Not to mention a generations one will be better priced for those who are budget constrained, so I wouldn't say that they'd waste a slot on Star Saber if he appeared in the third part of the trilogy (*hint hint* Hasbro *Hint blooming Hint*)

Not sure if I'd rather see a Generations or a Masterpiece Raiden. It's going to be expensive either way (looking at you, King Poseidon), but I suppose any representation from Japanese-exclusive characters is good, right?

*still blindly hopes for a real Generations Deathsaurus... someday...*

As someone who was exposed to the toy before the media, I assumed initially that it was "Ray"dn, the same you pronounce rail, as in trainbots.

If it was, then his name would be "Reiden", since the English word "rail" in Japanese Katakana is レイル ("reiru").

Agreed on price. With the current Masterpiece trend this could get stupid rediculous expensive quick. $80-120 a figure*6 in 1 boxset
