One of the pegs on the base of the crane.

Yes, the base of the crane assembly pegs into the bottom of each foot for crane mode. One peg from the crane portion is still in the foot. I should have known, it was REALLY tight going in. Hopefully my replacement one won't be as tight. But I definitely won't be pushing it all the way in if I think the same thing may happen again without sanding down the peg a bit.

Or widening the hole, since it might be the hole was too narrow.

If you'd held onto him I might've bought and fixed him up the next time I had spending money, but that's academic now.

My first thought was widen the hole, but I can confirm that the issue is with the peg. The crazy part is mine is the opposite side. Hasn't broken, but damn is it tight.

EDIT: Some of the issue seems to be with the flash on the peg. I used a razor knife to scrape that off and it fits better, so a light bit of sanding should fix the issue completely (didn't feel like looking for super fine grit sandpaper, and a razor knife has served me well in model building when it comes to flash removal). The hole could also be getting stretched a bit. I feel like there is the smallest stress mark on one side of the hole.

I've had a few QC cases.

I bought a TFA deluxe Sentinel Prime with two of the same arm (not sure exactly which one).

Bought a HFTD deluxe Ironhide and the one arm crumbled to pieces right out of the box (an unfortunate case of foreshadowing :( )

And my HFTD Leader Starscream broke at both the waist hinges. You can stick him back together for either mode, but he's basically a Sky Lynx at this point, where you have the top half with the jet and then the bottom half with all the kibble plugging into the bottom. Funny enough, the top half makes a great jet mode by itself.

I bought a secondhand Starscream with a similar break, which I have repaired. Unfortunately, he was also missing his head, which is not so easy to remedy. I've asked if anyone would be willing to make a Play-Doh (or similar) impression of his head and send it to me so that I could fabricate a replacement, but no luck yet.

I'm sure we're all tired of hearing about it by now, but the worst quality control issue I've had with a figure is the first Studio Series Camero Bee. It's effectively impossible to transform and to have it stay together, and you can't even put the parts together after the fact because of where the peg is. It's just not fun to play with.

Of course, the saving grace here is I got it for free from a friend, unlike William-james88 there with that MP Dinobot. Yikes. You hate to see it happen.

Try inserting a section of toothpick in place of the missing pin

Oh shoot, you know, I never thought of that. I'll have to dig it out of the bottom of my bin and give that a shot! Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. It's something I came up with while working on customs for situations where the original pin didn't want to go back in or had gotten messed up during removal.

I bought a Siege Sideswipe for a custom project and got it all covered in primer before realizing that it has two right hands.
