I'd be down for this. I sort of regret selling off my Combiner Wars Aerialbots and Combaticons now, expecially looking at some of the ridiculous after-market prices for some Combiner Wars toys. I'd like to own the Aerialbots again some day, and (wishful thinking but hear me out) I also wouldn't mind a reissue of Takara's Unite Warriors Megatronia, just because I like the characters a lot more than Victorion and the Torchbearers, but I kept putting off actually buying the set while it was available.

In a way TT is already doign this. I'm curious to know just based on making them available on Hasbro Pulse how well the Volcanicus and Abominus sets are selling, with relatively minor changes. Pretty much every other TT selects has sold out quickly. It will be interesting to see. Even after pre-orders were cutt off Pulse always had at least a small suppl of all the others once they were released. If these seem to stick around, and even discount, that is nto a good sign. If they sell quickly, well I guess we will see.

As a huge fan of combiners, I'd rather see updates ones that haven't been released yet (Raiden, Monstructor/Dinoking, Road Caesar, Landcross etc...) rather than more reissues of past ones. I mean if Hasbro or TT selects wants easy repaints G2 Defensor, Battle Gaia, Guard City, even G2 Devastator are all right there. Heck even a conceptual G2 Volcancus...

Still, not sure if these would sell at retail. Seeing CW toys from 2015 in "Retro" style Giftsets would be way beyond Walmarts price range I would think, selling them individually wouldn't be much different either IMHO

CW toys in retro packaging? Maybe, but size would be a problem, especially with how compact Motormaster is compared to the longer Onslaught and Silverbolt in vehicle mode.

... but this is the Netflix line thread isn't it? I keep eyeing Elita-1 (my wife was surprised with how girly she looks, then questioned the purpose of gendering in the line  ), but deciding against her in the hopes of scoring the PotP one one day. Should I bite the bullet?

Is she expensive now? For a long time, you could get them for less than $25.00

Speaking of combiners, did the Seacons / Piranacon ever get a boxset release? Or was it just the individual seasons?

Don't think the Pulse release ever made it out to other retailers.

I wonder if Hasbro would consider a boxed release for them.

In 1988. The orignial Seacons were released both individually and as a Giftset (though in the U.S. only 5 members were included, Nautilator (Lobclaw)was left out). In Japan the Takara giftset had all 6.

For the 2020 TT Generation Selects, the Seacons were only released individually. Conversely the repaint BWII God Neptune was released only as a set.

All six were available in a single "bulk" order, all six individual releases at one go. No box set I'm afraid, that was more for the 5-member God Neptune.

Video Review for Netflix Transformers deluxe Ironhide Redeco Quintesson Soldier

PostPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2021 11:14 pm
by william-james88
We thank Sabrblade for bringing this new review to our attention. It is a review of an upcoming deluxe from the 3rd wave of netflix Transformers toys based on the War for Cybertron trilogy. This toy is a redeco of Ironhide and meant to be part of the army/drones being used by the Quintesson. The actual name of the product is not confirmed as of now but it was listed as "Quintesson" in Walmart's database. This toy will be released around the summer along with his wavemates Barricade, Cheetor and a yet to be seen Deep Cover redeco. Let us know if you have any interest in picking him up. The review comes to us from Kremzeek reviews.

Really strange that we still haven't seen Deep Cover yet, usually the Deluxe figures all get leaked around the same time.

Ummmm... Deep Cover's already been officially revealed. In fact, he's currently up for preorder on Pulse and several other sites. Unless there's another version of Deep Cover we're getting that I haven't heard about.

Netflix Deep Cover, supposed to be another "Rusticon" the way Netflix Barricade is, and how the Netflix Wave 3 Seeker is supposed to be.

It's that option I bolded, I believe the product description for the Selects Deep Cover even alludes to it by stating it was one of two releases of the character coming this year. The leaked listings for this Netflix wave that the actual figure leaks have lined up with say there's a Netflix Deep Cover, and some leakers have said he looks more like some of the Lambo body-type generics from the show rather than the actual Deep Cover color scheme/deco the Selects figure sports.

I completely forgot that figure was going to be called Deep Cover.

It doesn't look bad, I do like that black and silver colour scheme and the battle damage detailing actually seems to work with the paint job. I probably won't buy this though, because I don't have any other Quintessons and I'm guessing with it being an army builder it'll be particularly hard to get.

Seriously - if this is supposed to be a 'drone' figure like the Allicon or Gnaw, then they should at least give it a new face sculpt - something with a visor and face plate. Just to make them more anonymous and intimidating. Giving him the same gormless FACE as Ironhide just makes it look like somebody stuck Ironhide in the freezer for a month.

I think Hasbro wanted to have their cake and eat it too. Using the Crosshairs head would have worked worked better as a drone, but using the Ironhide head let them sort of do a half-assed diaclone homage.

Too bad the show didn't have the budget to include the Brunt character model. The Decepticons could have had another cannon fodder troop, and then the Centurion version could have been used as a Quintesson servant... But then again, I guess Hasbro would have one less toy to sell. >:oP

Well if they gave it another head, it wouldnt match the show model. That's the real restriction here.

Gotta wonder if the reuse of heads is because Hasbro didn't send over the 3D models from the toys like they did the others, or if it was the animators just being lazy and not wanting to work with more models than they had to.

I doubt "laziness" comes into it more than "budgets" would.

I like the look of these sparkless figures, especially Barricade. The worn, rusty, deteriorated paint apps are really well done imo.
But I think they'll still be a pass for me... I'm more likely to go back and start collecting SG figures before these. Maybe it would've helped if I liked the show better too.
Yeah, it's all part of the $$$-making scheme, but I can give Hastak a bit of credit for doing this.
I'm assuming some people will really enjoy these guys!
