I don't need a coronation set for this Starscream. But if it come with an improved stand, I'd definitely pull the trigger.

Wow, it actually arrived today!

First impression: he looks great in both modes as expected. But the transformation is... yeah;.. as expected.

Hopefully transforming him back and forth will get easier. Coronation scene or not, maybe I should try to sell MP-11 so I'll have incentive to transform MP-52. :))

He looks spot on, it's the first ever Starscream to get the head/face right. And the swapable expressions make him so dynamic. The "fake" part is much better here than on MP-45 Bee because it hides the "real" piece -- there's no duplicity.

Y'all are right about the flight stand. It's useless in robot-mode, did T get lazy?

The knees on mine are fine, but the ankles are rather weak, did I miss a step? Landing gear, too.

Lower legs are perfectly flush on my Starscream. That part of the transformation was actually pretty cool. Oh, and it's the first MP in years that I transformed on my own without a video. 8-)

For now, this is my last MP, couldn't skip it after all the time that I had wished for a proper looking MP Starscream.

if your having problems with the ankles, it might be that your not snapping the feet into the heels. They do snap in, and on mine it was a case of "excessive force may be necessary"

one of a couple points of dread I had in transformation. the other being the nosecone twist. that feels like its trying to break every time.

Megatron's not too happy with this latest development. :))

Image

Poor thing, two Primes and two Screamers.

Now Soundwave's the only one without "flared" legs.

And a lil' "A Prime Problem" homage.

Image

MP-11 kind of looks "mecha" in comparison.

I'm not sure, I think I did whatever I was supposed to. It's only in some poses though.

Check out the Heelys. :))

MP-52 is backwards compatible with MP-11's coronation gear, except for the crown.

Posted this back in February in the general MP thread:
Sabrblade wrote:Heads up. There's a new Masterpiece promotional campaign coming for the MP-52 Seeker mold.

According to TakaraTomy Mall's order page for MP-52+ Thundercracker, anyone who buys MP-52 Starscream, MP-52+ Thundercracker, and the forthcoming MP-52+ Skywarp, and then fills out and mails in the product questionnaire included in the flap part of all three figure's boxes, will receive the "New Emperor of Destruction Parts" for MP-52 Starscream.

These are the same cape and shoulder pieces that came with MP-11 Starscream (meaning that the MP-52 mold is backwards-compatible with these parts), but also a new crown, two new blast effects pieces, and another new piece of some kind.

HOW?

Because I tried to fit things and I don't see how it could work.
No, I don't count just letting the accessories rest in place without anything pegging in securely as "compatible".

I don't see it as a remote possibility either. Also, screamer has new mystery tab slots under his wings and on his tail fins that don't peg into anything (currently). I have a feeling there's a miss-communication somewhere. the pic is clearly the mp-11 coronation gear, same crown as well. Maybe that's why they thought it would be the same? also the "other piece" if the image is what they are going by, is just the display stand adapter that already came with MP-52. Given the location of the tabs, the way screamers intakes are completely different, the cape at least would have to be a completely new mold or heavy heavy retool. unless they do a fabric one. I could see the shoulders being retooled to have the tab size and location changed to fit the new slots on his shoulders. Given the flaps from the jet "spine" that sit loosely behind his shoulders that pivot freely, I would not be surprised if the shoulderpads were also supposed to tab in with them

Here's the text from the page via Google Translate
"Masterpiece Jetron Campaign" will be held!

"MP-52 Starscream Ver.2.0" released in June, "MP-52+ Thundercracker Ver.2.0" limited to TakaraTomy Mall, and "MP-52+ Skywarp Ver.2.0" to be released in the future
If you purchase 3 types and send the "Product Survey in progress" part of the flap part in each package, all applicants will carry out a campaign to receive "New Destruction Emperor Parts Set for MP-52 Starscream Ver.2.0".
(Details will be announced at the time of "MP-52+ Skywarp Ver.2.0" announcement, and only the shipping fee will be borne by you.)

And?
It does NOT mean that MP-11's coronation gear is compatible with MP-52.
At all. Those parts can only be new molds. Also, may I point out this part above in bold: NEW parts.

I'll take concrete reality by having tested the ACTUAL things in hand over a very, very loose and shoddy interpretation of a Google Translate text any day.

The shoulder piece may be compatible simply by chance. Unless like the crown, they are new molds.
Plus that clear piece is obviously the cape adapter. Without it, the cape cannot attach on MP-52.

So in reality, there is still basically no compatibility whatsoever. Because by that logic, Combiner Wars limbs are compatible with the Gobots Power Suit core spaceship unit because there's Shapeway adapters to allow it.

I do have the complete Power Suit combiner but I have to admit, those are really, REALLY tempting. :-?

Gotta save my cash though because Shapeways are damn expensive to import for Canadians.

Got my Screamer today and two things jumped out at me right away; one, using twine to attach the bag that holds the stand to the tray concerns me, it rattles around a little too much. Two, the instructions really should've been a booklet like they used to be, the fold-out sheet is just too much.

The way the stand is packed into the box don't bother me too much, but I agree on the instructions. They don't feel "premium" at all and the pictures are very tiny and hard to read. I got a few too many close calls because of that.

I was able to change him completely without the instructions, it wasn't difficult at all. Though there were a few spots that seemed like they should have had connectors but didn't, they just depend on other parts and hinge friction to stay in place. Aside from the weak knees and ankles making him much too unsteady to stand without the base I find getting the wings to tab into his body using the black tabs to bee very difficult, it's a very tight fit and one of them refuses to go in all the way (the one that did go in required a lot of wiggling). Still, he's one of the best feeling MPs in a while, I didn't feel like anything was going to break outright just from transforming him, aside from his neck ball joint which is a little too tight and always wants to tilt to one side like a confused puppy. Hopefully they can iron out some of the joint issues in time for the next two.

Did you try the coronation gear from MP-11 on 52 yet? I know the cape and pauldrons are the same, but I wonder if the crown will also fit.

MP-11's coronation gear are 100% incompatible with MP-52. Nothing connect and the heads are not the same shape.

So if you want a Coronation Gear for MP-52, better hunt the official, severely mod the previous one, or wait for an unofficial set.

Yeah I learned that this afternoon when I finally opened mine. Am I the only one who didn’t know that the image Takara used along with info of getting it with purchase of the other two was a placeholder, or is there some fishiness going on? Coz even going back to the news post about it, that picture definitely very clearly shows the MP-11 cape.

Is it just me?

Welp mine broke. It was one of the points of concern I had in the transformation, however I think the break in this case came from the screw being in too far. Fortunately the way it is built, I should be able to super glue the panels together without any fear of gluing joints together. Untill I do though, can't transform him any more. See the pics below.

This is the screw that the knee transformation joint is connected too. The panels here had a bit of a gap in vehicle mode, and was very dangerous feeling from the get go when transforming the legs, but I figured if anything was going to break, it was going to be the big locking tab inside the knee joint, since it takes a bit of force to get moving And not the screw hole breaking off from the panel

If you look at the picture above, you see that the "mystery clear plastic bit" is the adapter for the MP-11 cape. It most likely plug in the stand holes on Starscream's back, the panel that cover the fake chest-cockpit in jet mode.

Yeesh.... Well at least this can be an easy fix that will not appear too much. A longer screw and a washer should do the trick. Plus it should not prevent the legs to tab together by that much I think.

This could have been worse like a wing hinge, something that was common with the MP-03 mold.

I partially took the leg apart. The screw was definitely rammed in too far. But I am right, little glue in between panels will hold it together. This at least seems to be just a copy thing. My usual luck getting defects

got mine a few days ago as well.
Looks like mine doesn't have weak knee joints, and can easily stand on his own without problems.
But I notices that the panel that covers the hand in his left forearm doesn't want to stay flush, and keeps untabbing a little. Nothing that ruins the figure, but I'd like to know if it's something common, and if and how you fixed the issue.
