Transformers Cybertron Cyber Keys

Hello,

I am in the process of scaling back my Cybertron collection and I lost track of which keys go with which figures. I know which ones get Jungle planet keys, Speed planet keys, etc... but I discovered the keys all have serial numbers on the back. Does it really matter if toys don't have their original keys as long as the keys work the figures or is there a master list of which numbered keys go with which figure?

naw, the codes were for what I can only imagine being a long defunct website that would show little factoids, but I;m sure all that stuff is on the wiki

The "serial numbers"/codes on the back were specific to each figure, since they unlocked character-specific bonus content on the Transformers website at the time, but they have no impact on the actual figures themselves and said online content is no longer available, so the codes are no longer important. If you are curious enough to want to know who's keys are which, though, TFWiki has a page dedicated to it with a master list like you mentioned: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Cyber_Key_Codes

I'll keep that wiki site in mind in case someone on eBay gets pissy about matching figures and keys. When I moved 12 years ago and boxed up all my figures, I tossed all the keys into a couple of zip lock bags and made no effort to keep them with the figures.

There is a match that people will care about even if they no longer give a toss about the codes: The leaders, and their gold-bordered keys with gold-chromed symbols.

if they get lost you can always use a flat screwvdriver or knife to gently activate the figure. Worked for my Downshift since his hole is in tight spot in car mode.

Or a popsicle stick, or whatever... Cyber Key gimmicks are decidedly easier to activate without the key than Mini-Con gimmicks are without a Mini-Con

And some of them have weak locking mechanisms. Shortround :CON: (Scout water hovercraft) has weak springs that unlock the hidden weapon in his engines, they can be pulled out with a the finger.
