Transformers x Uncanny X-Men Collaboration Figure Ultimate X- Spanse Revealed

Greetings and Salutations true believing Seibertronians! Following on from yesterday's announcement, the Official Transformers Instagram has revealed the toy, and given him the name of Ultimate X-Spanse! Not only that but preorders have gone live over at Target and will go live at the following retailers on 3/1: Your Local GameStop and Hasbro Pulse!

As confirmed by the images, the crossover is with the 1992 X Men Animated series, and the figures box uses visual vues to represent it. The figure comes with blast effects to simulate Wolverines claws and Psylocke's psyhic blade, while the head sports googles modeled after Cyclops's visor. The figure also comes with two mini figures of Wolverine, and his rival Sabertooth.

The X-Men cartoon was how I was introduced to that franchise, so this hits all the right buttons.

X-Pance ... yikes. They could have done better.

Psylock is a popular X-Man, but she didn't have a strong presence in the show. But I guess they can't represent Storm, Jean Grey, or Gambit very well.

The figure looks great. The one image looks terrible, lol. This looks like it'd go well with the Marvel "Transformers" from back in the day .... if I had any of those.

No no, see, it's "Ultimate X-Spanse". The "Ultimate" part is his first name. ;)

Stupid name. >:oP

there are parts of him that scream ss jetfire. mostly the wings and the panels over his shoulders. neat that he looks like a mashup of cyclops and wolverine. still would have liked to seen the one from the comics though

Definitely a step up from their first attempt at marvel crossovers. I gotta agree on the name being total crap. I get that it's the "x" het but doesn't mean they have to incorporate X into the name. That just limits their options. Just give him a cool name smh. Also like how his energy weapons scream psylocke

I agree the name is dumb. I get they're trying to incorporate terms from the mythology into the name, as they did with Ectotron and Gigwatt, but c'mon.

Call it Blackbird or Jetwing and be done with it.

A lot more expensive than I expected, but my expectations were exceeded for the bot himself!!

Totally pre-ordered at Target. :ic$:

I just realized it comes with a third effect that simulates the 'butterfly' effect Psylocke would have going on when she used her powers. Man, this is a plate of steamy, delicious nostalgia ;)^

I was hoping to see a pic of the "butterfly" effect as well! But yeah, having Wolverine's claws, Psylocke's psi-blade and Cyclop's visor? I could NOT resist. I figured there might be little Xmen characters included -- making it Wolverine and Sabretooth? I seriously could NOT say no lol

It's a little hard to see but it is in one of the promo picks above. I underlined it here:

The other name for the Blackbird is "X-Jet", that too would have been preferable.

Weird that the ...unusual jet design, isn't the same as the design on the Crossover logo though :-?

Honestly, it's the "Ultimate" part of the name that's the most dumb. Had it been "X-Spanse" by itself that still would have been silly but we could have written it off as part of the 90's charm. Altogether, though, the full name of "Ultimate X-Spanse" is rather X-cessive.

And, really, what does the word "expanse" even have to do with the Blackbird? There are many other more fitting "ex-" words that they could have used for the "X-" pun.

That's because it's a remold of SS Jetfire.

I'm down for this. Some of the parts look familiar though.

I see. That's why it doesn't look like a Blackbird design regularly used in X-Men.
This is a huge pass for me. An awful design all round. I've been a huge X-Men fan for decades and this is something I wouldn't waste money on.

I will give you the fuselage up the first "neck" section, but the rest like the nacelles are all new. Typical :)

Yeah, the basic skeleton of this thing (torso, arms, legs, and head) looks to be all new, with only the jet kibble recycled from Jetfire.

Hasbro are lazy enough to do so though. Which is a shame, as some people can do the whole thing from scratch and it looks amazing...

And a lot more accurate depiction of the X-Men's signature jet. Not the Seeker equivalent of this...

A decided improvement over Grampsfire, but the colors are off putting.

And $65? No. $45 maybe. This goes into the bin with the Top Gun one. Pretty easy pass.

Maverick's the only truly new mold figure in the Collaborative line and it looks bland and boring. Ectotron, Gigawatt, and Mr. Stupid Name are all made from preexisting molds to some degree (whether as a retool or recycled parts) and they all benefit for it.
