Movie toys 6 months from now

So far I've built my transformer movie collection up to 40 pieces, and am happy to say that I only had to go online once to get the 08 bumblebee ($39.99 $10 ship)...showed up in fantastic shape thank god. A great sense of accomplishment for me thus far.

The other day I happened in on a dollar store to snag a cheap rca cable for an old Nintendo. While standing there among the piles of Spider Man, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. I was suddenly overcome by sadness. My first thought was....well this is just mass produced movie garbage...oh wait my transformers are also from a movie...

I understand that the transformer movie is in up there in scale with the big blocker buster movies of the last ten years and therefore will come with massive amounts of overpriced merchandise but I like to think that the actual transformable toys from this movie are different!? I just checked ebay and pirates stuff isn't going for jack.

As it stands now transformer movie toys have been out for almost 2 months now and are for the most part still packed in my area stores; Target, Wal-Mart, Big K, Fred Meyer, etc....not the best ones but you can still pick up the run of mill ones like wreckage (no offense) at will.

With all that said, my biggest fear is that in 6 months I will be able to go into a dollar type store and pick up an average deluxe transformer for a buck? If so, I will be pissed.

Maybe some of you see this as a good thing...especially for the kids. At this point to build my collection I've spent over 400 bucks! Part of me thinks cool, pick up a butt load at a dollar but the other part of me doesn't want my collection demeaned. Nahhh, I love my collection no matter what!!

Any thoughts?

I just posted this in the Florida Collector's unite thread. Yes it will most likely happen. I mean yesterday I saw a couple of Classic Mirages, and some Cybertron ones. I think if it happened with them, it'll most likely happen to Transformers. I mean now that I think about it, the Transformer movie toys are really really popular, and seem to me more popular than the classics and Cybertron, so I mean right now it's anything goes.

that's depressing but you should still be proud of your collection
