For someone who doesn't mind non-transforming figures, these are way overpriced for what they are and what they lack.

Are you new to this hobby?
Lemme point you out toward FIGMA...

If by "new to this hobby" you mean "don't collect anime figures", then yes.
A major difference is that these Super 7 figures seem to have substantially less detail and articulation.

It's a style. And they are WAY bigger and massive, plus the number of accessories is pretty big. So the price is right.

But whatever, there's a golden rule that we ALL abide by: the things we don't like or that don't interest us will ALWAYS be "too expensive" no matter the price. ¯\_( ͡°ヮ ͡°)_/¯

Another factor to consider regarding the price:

Super7's figures are made in really low quantities compared to retail lines, or even some other more limited collector lines. Probably less than 10,000 pieces of each figure, if they're in the same range as Mezco stuff. When you're doing stuff at that low of quantity, you don't get the savings that come from economies of scale, so even if it's something that could be priced at like $30-35 and still be profitable if it were being made in the high 10s of thousands, at this small of a production run the materials etc. costs them more per figure to make it, so they have to price it substantially higher to actually make a profit.

Anytime profit is involved, there's too much gray area to say "the price is right".
And the exact opposite can be said; if you like and have interest in something, "it's worth it" no matter the price.
At any rate, it can also be stated with as much validity that all of this stuff is overpriced.

I'd also say there are plenty of times where someone may not be interested in a figure (even to the point of "not liking it"), and that doesn't automatically then mean they think it's overpriced.

All right everyone, pack it in, show's over. Franchise has officially jumped the shark, or in this case, an alligator made out of Optimus Prime.

New wave is looking really good. G2 megs with plenty of heads, tarn, Croc with building with arm and wreckgar/junkion being nice as well.

You're forgetting the #1 offering, Nickel!

This new wave is really quite fantastic, I love it! I had cancelled my Banzaitron preorder and was content to let these pass, but i just preordered Tarn and re-preordered Banzaitron, I'll give them a shot.

I think Tarn will eventually go to the Cyberverse shelf, he scales better with them it seems than the MMC one, and I want Nickel for the Scavengers, so at this point, we only need a Fulcrum to complete that set!

Super7 Ultimates Wave 3 Gives us Another Non-Transforming Tarn and Alligaticon

Once again official third parties do what Hasbro refuses to, just not transformable. At this point Hasbro will probably never give us a proper transforming Tarn figure despite his popular IDW stories and his visage now being all over the Cyberverse animated series, but at least we can get the next best official thing from Super7. The new Ultimate Tarn stands at a 7" scale (roughly the size of a Voyager) meaning he should work well with the modern Transformers scale. He includes an alternate unmasked head, a spare mask "prop", double canon, a bunch of hands and, most importantly, Nickle with her backpack. Could this open the door to more DJD members? Probably not, but it's still a good looking figure.

Meanwhile we never got that easy Titans Return Skullsmasher repaint into Alligaticon, the misassembled monsters made from Optimus Prime's parts from the G1 cartoon episode "City of Steel". This will be our first official Alligaticon figure, but he'll also include Prime's severed head, the tower Prime's arm was mounted to, and a Decepticon battle taxi, bet you thought we'd never get a figure of that!

The wave wraps up with less obscure G2 Megatron featuring both his G1 and G2 canons, extra hands, swappable blue and gray faces, a bunch of hands and many weapons straight out of the G2 comic. Then there's Wreck-Gar who comes with his cartoon and toy heads, cartoon and toy axes, Energon treats, a mini TV for Earth broadcasts, wax and cloth for detailing Ultra Magnus, gun wheel shields.

Ultimates wave 3 is expected to be out third quarter of 2022 and cost around $55 each. You can pick these up and just about any of our site sponsors. Big thanks to Seibertronians D-Maximal_Primal via email and AcademyofDrX on the Energon Pub Forums for letting us know.

And here I just recently tracked down a Junkion Blacksmith Optimus Prime headmaster to fully turn my Poison Dragon Skullcruncher KO into a "What if the Autobots had just decided to roll with Alligatormus Prime?" custom. Of course the colors don't quite match, and he's not complete until I find that Matrix sticker and put it under his tech-spec cover.

I was hoping one of G2 Megs' accessories would be the protoplasm stripper with an in scale Dr. Biggles Jones. Still might get him though.

While it is disappointing that Tarn gets yet another non-transforming figure, I am looking forward to that set. For one thing, I finally get Nickel, meaning my Scavengers literally will only need a Fulcrum. And for another, a non-transforming Tarn will go good on the Cyberverse shelf.

The other 3 are also pretty cool. This is a nice assortment

While I'm glad for a (relatively) more accessible Tarn - with Nickel as a bonus! -, I can't help but be amused that the character portrayed as so addicted to transformation he keeps burning through T-Cogs...has so far only non-transformable figures.

True, that character trait didn't play that big a part after his introduction, but still.

It's torturous. I keep hoping Cyberverse will give us a transforming toy of him. The iron is so strong!

In Hand Look at Super7 Ultimates Transformers Action Master Figures

Super7 definitely got the attention of Transformers fans when they announced Transformers Action Masters as part of their Ultimates assortment. While pricey, they made more sense as an update than any other non transforming action figure of Transformers characters. Well, we now have in had images and assessments of all these figures. We have reviews from Toy Bro as well as in hand images from Weibo and a TF fan called analogue. Analogue's pictures of Action Master Bombshell are especially fun since we see a comparison to the G1 Action Master Bombshell which shows us how faithful this updated version is.

This first wave has Action Master Bombshell and Banzaitron as well as Optimus and Starscream.

Those are basically MP Action Masters.
But the line works very well for pretenders too.

I pre-ordered Bludgeon and I hope a Thunderwing is in the works.

As I half expected after handling their Voltron figure, these look great and that's about it. Optimus Prime has ZERO playability and can barely move, the RED figure looks better. I just canceled my order at BBTS. I think it's safe to say that Super7 will not be making figures that appeal to Transformer fans on a whole.

Hell yeah, I want these. I doubt they will, but I would love to see a Treadshot one and put it next to my G1 one!

I wouldn't call them MP with their limited articulation.

Eh, a bit disappointed the Action Master Partners don't work as well as the originals (except Needler, but even he needs partforming), but then again I should've expected it. Hasbro tends to be protective of the whole transformation conversion when it regards to third-party licenses.

Guess I'll save it for Alligaticon and Tarn, then.

Hmm, unsure on these in hand shots. They look pretty good, but I was hoping for a bit more shoulder movement, and it looks a little weird in person? Starscream in particular came out looking odd.

I plan to get Tarn. I'm still thinking on Banzaitron and Bludgeon, but not sure with the price tag on those ones yet
