You're right, 50$ for an old voyager sized toy is CRAZY, hasbro would never....

Except wasn't it originally supposed to come with trailer, trailer was dropped but price never changed? Its an exception, not a rule.

I thought the trailer was dropped so that they could sell it at $50. I have never heard of it originally coming with a trailer.

And I never said it was a rule. I just said we can't rule anything out since there's a precedent for everything now.

This was my understanding as well, especially with the three big chunks of die cast metal on the figure. Imagine what the price would have been with the trailer. $70? $80?

Don't forget roller and his gaspump. 100.

Honestly, I'm not convinced that these are Transmetals.
At first it kinda made sense since the TM toys are pretty good, hold up for the most part (minus some detailing and proportions), but the fact that these are listed as "Vintage" makes me think that they're straight up reissues of the original toys.
It kinda makes sense, BW's 25th anniversary, so they get a comic, they get modern updates that are kinda show accurate and incorporate MP engeneering and to top it off they get reissues of theor original toys.
Remember the 10th anniversary?
That was celebrated with reissues that got updated decoes, some remolded parts as well as modern updates of Primal and Megs.
This is basically that, just keeping both aspects "pure".
One the one hand fresh modern takes, and on the other accurate reissues.

And if they're really awesome, MP Rampage.

I really hope these are the Transmetals. I want a TM Megatron that's the right ****ing color that won't disintegrate damnit.

Hopefully it is the Transmetals and not just repeating the half-hearted effort of the 10th anniversary. You have Kingdom for [better versions of] the Season One designs. As for the original figures: Primal was great, Megatron was not. There's no real need to repeat them.
At least with the TM line. Barring GPS, everyone was of a similarly high standard.

I'm not convinced that these are the the Transmetals, because it makes no sense for them to have a deluxe that's roughly the same price as modern deluxes but megas that are twenty bucks more than modern voyagers.

Hopefully if it is the non-Transmetals, they'll give us a reissue of the basic Rattrap this time around; it'd scale better with the Kingdom stuff than the tiny core class version. They'd also probably do well to reissue Tarantulas and Inferno, given their absence from Kingdom.

The 1996 Rattrap mold is long gone, hence why they went with the Transmetal back during the 10th anniversary.

Doesn't Hasbro have the specs on paper? Couldn't they just rebuild the mold?

Not without the Master, even then cutting (new) molds is really expensive. The problem is, we don't know the exact state of the tooling, whether it's just missing (which would make cutting new ones a bit redundant when they're found again) or downright broken or degraded beyond use.

And I thought Transmetal Rattrap being used for BW 10th instead of the original Basic was nothing more than logistics, really. Putting a Basic figure in a line set as "Deluxe only", yeah no.

Yeah, it makes zero financial sense for them to make new molds for Rattrap.
We've already been told that making molds for Transformers is so expensive that the original batch is usually just enough to break even and repaints is where the mold makes them the money.
They would need to make a couple batches of Rattrap plus a couple of repaints for them to make it worth it.
And I don't think there's enough interest in Rattrap's original toy to do that. And the only repaint that makes sense is Packrat, and that was a BotCon exclusive. Don't think reissuing that would go over well.

Personally I've never been a fan of the original Rattrap figure, I don't even own one because I didn't like it as a kid teen despite liking the character a lot. I've always felt it was the absolute worst of the Basic figures and a terrible rat likeness, especially that row of long fangs. Kingdom Rattrap isn't that much smaller than the original and has a far better looking rat mode and scales better with the smaller scale of Kingdom figures.

Sure not going to try to change your opinion, but the size differences are so minor and the aesthetics are so different I don't think the original would look any better with Kingdom.

Wait four Rattrap figures? What the other one besides basic, T30 and Kingdom?

I thought Drill Bit was considered the worst of the Basic figures?

Anyway, I think the torso of Basic Rattrap looks better than the Kingdom one does. The proportions of the Beast Mode head look weird on the new figure. Wherein it has been made too small. It isn't just supposed to be a small emblem on the centre of his chest.

I've always had a soft spot for Basic Ratface, regardless. I own two of them, after all. That said, the Generations one looks awful...

Kingdom Rattrap's torso actually has the most accurate proportions, the only thing the character model does differently is use magic flatten the rat head a bit.

His translucent plastic might make him a bit delicate nowadays.

I was looking on TFW2005 and I found where the image comes from.

The image doesn't show the trailer.

What's the figure directly beside the Kingdom one? I think that's probably the best-looking Rattrap of the bunch.

Pass! Should've been a number of other TF characters that deserve actual Commander class treatment.

I'll only grab this if shows up on sale or one clearance somewhere.

I actually just bought a used one off Transformerland.com last year and he seemed fine, better than the original Transmetals Rhinox I bought at the same time that definitely felt like he could break at any point in the transformation and will probably never see rhino mode again.

Third party, quick search and I guess it has the generic name of "Mice Warriors" with an "s". Apparently he's more egg than mouse having no molded fur textures on his body.

Yeah, that was my assumption as well.

They pulled the original Terrorsaur mold out of mothballs for use in AoE, so we know at least one of the first-wave basic-class BW molds was available for use in a 2014 toyline. The BW 10th anniversary toyline was 2006. I'm skeptical about the idea that Rattrap's mold was unusable by then when Terrosaur's, which got reused far more, was still good 8 years later.

Yeah, the Terrorsaur mold showing up in AOE came as a shock to everyone, as it too was believed to have been lost like the Rattrap, Insecticon, and Armordillo molds.

Wait, what? I just had to check this and wow. That has got to be the most random redeco ever. A 20 year old mold used as something in a main toyline...

It wasn't a main toyline.
