Any of your older toys breaking apart now?

The TF toys of our youth were not meant to last forever. Are there any that have broken on you when handling them now?
I was transforming my Beast Wars Razor Claw and the claw feet/hands broke at the joint. Both of them did, dont know what happened to that plastic in the past 25 years.

Yup. The roof balljoint on my 2001 Super Sideburn cracked, made a post about a little while back. Translucent plastic and all.

Age makes all plastics more brittle I suppose.

A fair few of my older TFs have some issues- excluding childhood figures (which have mostly fallen apart) my Superlink Bruticus' tank molds' clear guns have developed fractures in the "brace" between the two gun barrels, and the hinges for those guns have become frighteningly stiff. Likewise, Stalker Scorponok, who I bought relatively recently, had a gear in one of the claws just split in two, necessitating surgery to repair the gimmick (spoiler: the procedure was a success). Ironically, the BW figures I own seem to be (touch wood) solid as a rock- my BW Rampage's tank mode treads are still in perfect condition, most notably.

Well, I got a few.

When I first started collecting TF over 10 years ago, it was all about Optimus Prima and Starscream. That's it. Then a trip to Walmart (at the time it was good), made me buy two Generations figures that opened the floodgates to everything else. Those were Generations Drift and HFTD Terradive. Some months ago, Terradive's spear broke in half.

Some months ago, I turn the foot the wrong wat on my HFTD Highbrow and it snapped.

Some years ago, X-Over Chewbacca exploded due to GPS.

It all depend on the type of plastics and how it was stored I guess because I have many G1 figures that still feel brand new. Like my G1 Constructicons. Man, I was impressed, especially after the K.O-like encore from Takara.

So far, only Onslaught from a Japanese G1 Bruticus pack has broken on me. The styrofoam packaging was always tight and last time I tried pushing him out, his side panels broke. Haven’t tried pulling out any of the other bots, and they are 30 years old at this point. My BW figures are in a closet for the most part. I haven’t seen flaking, but I also haven’t transformed them in a while so I can’t say.

My Energon OP's hip ratchet and Energon Unicron's knee ratchets have given out. When my BIAB Ultra Magnus (Armada Deluxe OP redeco)fell apart, I just swapped the gray parts onto my Armada Nemesis Prime to make it cartoon accurate. The propeller gimmick on both my Hasbro and Takara TFTM Incinerator no longer work.

Not in the transformers lines, But some of the older toys i collected from lego bionicle which use balljoints and axle pieces do get brittle with axle. One on my sets called Axonn with had one giant hand made of balljoints which hold his axe, all of the cup that hold them become brittle and with dust made finger movenent risky i had to remove those giant hands and add simple hands on him.

Looks like because brick before 2010 don't have sturdy quality.
this is a example of what happen to 2007 where lime green part had severe issues

That's really painful because Terradive is one of the best jetformers deluxe ever and HFTD Highbrow fetch absurd prices on Ebay.

Nothing recently aside from the usual GPS, mostly in BW Grimlock's legs (only a couple years after I got him, still in the 90s so that wasn't recent) and the body of Magnaboss Silverbolt a few years ago. Aside from that just the usual bad chrome and split rubber wheels. I did break the foot of an original ROTF Sideswipe, but that was definitely user error when I couldn't remember which way the foot was supposed to bend. Now I'm worried because I have a lot of figures mentioned here...

ROTF Bludgeon. His hands both snapped apart when putting his swords in them.

One of the thin little leg struts on my RotF leader Megatron snapped at the base. I glued it back on so he can still stand for display purposes, but it can't rotate anymore, so he'll never be able to transform again.

A few years back the shoulder socket on my Animated Swindle cracked. Not enough to fall all the way off, but enough to lose friction and go floppy. Been scared to touch it since.

I had that toy once. I transformed it ONE time back and forth. When doing so, I noticed that all its joints were made out of clear plastics. I nope'd then gladly sold it to a friend when he asked for it.

The ball socket on my Energon Dreadwing mold just cracked upon movement.

It was one of those scenarios where there was literally no way I could have stressed or impacted the joint myself beyond simply moving the ball in the socket. It just popped. C'est la vie.

(oddly enough, not a feeling I would have had 5 years ago, but I can't really fuss about something I have literally no control over)

So far nothing that I can think of that's worth mentioning. I hope I didn't just shoot myself in the foot. :-P :VEHI:

No newly cracked joints on any of my older figures. However, looking through storage tubs I noticed my GF Flame Convoy aka Cybertron Scourge with one of the dragon head spikes broken off. :-(

:EDIT: and great, I found a crack on one of Universe Reptilion's pinned hinges, the one for the beast mode head. :(

Hmmm. Do toys you bought already-broken count?

I don't think so. There's a difference with "breaking down with age" and just having defects or ham-handling.

For example, I make customs from scraps and I noticed that the plastics of Armada leader(?) Megatron is brittle like dry leaves.

I am still devastated by the fact that my Prime FE Cliffjumper broke :( I love that to so much. If ever it is remade, I really hope Hasbro can recreate the magic of the original.
Another toy that recently broke on me was Transformers Go Bakudora (Beast Hunters Ripclaw Redeco with new head). That soft plastic in the tail snapped.

Armada Megs would be an Ultra ("Giga-Con") by that line's standards. And odd, I haven't noticed that with my Galvatron... Have you had that be the case with multiple Armada Megatrons?

Both G1 Mirages I've bought were already broken, but age degradation seems to be a factor - the blue plastic is on the brittle side. This is why I've said that buying one of those counterfeit "reissue" Mirages is probably better than buying a legit Mirage.

Welp, I have an unfortunate update with a possibility. I had one of Universe Cyclonus' lower leg struts abruptly break on me while transforming him to robot mode. Either I somehow managed to yank too hard on it, or there's age brittleness going on.
