What do you think of Voyager Ratchet?

I just got him today. He seems pretty fun, although I would've liked to see him with some missiles or something.
I was thinking of blackwashing him, or at least filling in some details, especially around his mouth. He looks a bit too light in his untouched form. What do you Ratcher owners think?

a good big figure but he gets boring after a while because of the lack of "real" weapons and lack of pose options because of his big box-y body shape
other than that, he's kinda fun to transform, since there's a lot of solid LOCKING parts unlike Ironhide and Blackout

Frankenstein meets Transformers.

I like him a LOT!

He's got the wise, almost wizened look about him. I personally think he's the most "fantasy" based of the Autobots.
I think I will blackwash him.

So basically your going to blackwash every single TF you get from now on?
Seriously though I'd be very interested to see how Ratchet turns out.
I personally think the figure sucks, I like the character but this figure is ugly and boring.

I'm hopnig the blackwash will make him look a bit better. I'm especially disapppointed in the face.
I'm optimistic that the blackwash will make him look a bit less dull and boring. =)
BTW I was thinking about making Leader Prime's plastic grey parts look more metallic/shiny. Any ideas how to do this without having to take him apart?

I liked him better after the movie. The toy is good. I like the sturdy feel to him and the head sculpt is clean.

He's the only Autobot I don't have in some form. I'm still debating if I should get him. he's kinda ugly and chunky looking. But I don't feel complete without him.

Save for the puke green color, he's pretty sweet. Probably the easiest movie character I have so far to transform. Leader Prime is the hardest.

I've blackwashed most of Ratchet's robot mode, and emphasized the features on his face. He looks a bit better, and is more expressive now. And he doesn't look like a personality-less green block.
Add his claW (cannon? Bah humbug!) and he does add a great collection to your Autobot collection.

He's my favorite Voyager. Very G1-like, has great posability, looks cool. Can't wait for the white recolor.
The lack of weapons is alittle disappointing, but seeing as how he's a Medic(and generally a pacifist), it makes sense.

I dig him a lot despite some flaws. I do wish he had come with some sort of cannon, as his included weapons seem a bit forced in execution. I think I'll just make a custom cannon that I can attach to that hole in his forearm. I also wish that his hands were able to turn at the wrist. But I'm definitely glad I bought him. A really nice addition to the autobot team.

Huh. I'm not going to get the redeco Ratchet. I don't want two copies of the same figure.

I like the sculpt and transformation and I love having a figure that feels this solid, especially in the transformation. Because the joints are so stiff and rigid he just goes together like he should, without having to deal with wiggling the damn toy to get the tabs to fit together. (IRONHIDE!!).
Though I thought I'd be fine with the color, I have decided I can't take it anymore. Especially not after seeing the kick-ass ambulance-colored recolor that's on its way. I mean, what the hell is a "search-and-rescue hummer" anyway? It definitely sounds made up.
I've decided to return this version to the store and get the recolor when it comes out. Then I'll be very happy. Any hints on nabbing one?

I can see the inspiration from those for the movie version.

Fair enough. I kind of assumed that because it's are recolor i'd be made in much smaller quantities. Then again I'm a newbie.
But with so damn many Voy Ratchets on every toystore shelf... I guess getting a rescue ratchet shouldn't be that hard.

Coool. Thanks for the pics, Pontimax. Though I do observe that neither of those Hummers is painted vomitous green.

They should have included the assault rifle he used in the movie.

True, Im holding out for Rescue Ratchet. A yellow ambulance just doesnt make any sense and is actually a piss poor disguise.

Every ambulance we have in my town is nearly the same green as Ratchet. It isn't pretty, but you can easily see them.

That's an actual ambulance from my town.

I stand corrected. Here their only red and white.

Yeah, but the real bitch of it is, he's not an ambulance in the movie. He's some retarded search and rescue Hummer. No search and rescue agency I know can afford a new Hummer like that. Some fire departments and related entities have older style hummers that are mostly military surplus hummers (usually modified like those in the previous pix), but none of this super soccer mom McMansion Hummer nonsense. Plus, that green is ugly as sin and, as was already pointed out, very conspicuous. The vehicle choice helps GM advertise their high end cars...it does not hide a giant space robot.
I posted my thoughts on what Ratchet could have looked like in another threadwith links to images of real GM based ambulances. With that said, I do prefer the red/white redeco over the first movie figure.
If they keep this up, Prowl will be in the sequel as the CSI: Miami Hummer.
http://www.modelcars.com/modelcar4843.phpSorry to gripe...as an emergency services volunteer, I thought I would get to see a cool looking ambulance transform into a bad ass robot.

Cool like this one? lol
http://hight3ch.com/post/worlds-fastest ... hummer-h2/I'm sure they'd have made Ratchet an original Humvee (and Humvee ambulances look tough!) but then they'd have to get licensing rights from AM General as well, and it was probably easier to use something else nearly as big and they already were talking to GM. If not an H2, maybe a modified Suburban or something big. Our EMS has a Dodge Durango rigged up in the same color as that ambulance picture I posted.
