^well, there you go.

But I just had a neat idea. Maybe this Transformer actually scanned one of the Robot's used in the production of the JP Movie ;)

In the original Jurassic Park, all of the clone Dinosaurs were initially female. Although it should be noted that this is in fact NOT supposed to be the exact T-Rex from JP (because last time I checked it wasn't a robot), but a Transformer-inspired interpretation of it. So of course it gets weird here...

Vehicles on earth aren't alive, so if a Transformer scans a vehicle, they still retain whatever personality they are...

But if you scan a living animal, and take it on as an alternate form, does your gender automatically change to whatever gender the animal you scanned is/was? I mean Tigatron scanned a female tiger, but he IS Male. Megatron, and Dinobot scanned fossils (not even alive). Do we assume all the other living animals the Maximals and Predacons scanned were the same gender they were?..... yeah it gets real weird.

I mean I get the simplicity of wanting this Tyrannosaur Transformer (based on the original Tyrannosaur Animal from the JP movies) to be female, because the animal was female, but I guess we have to wait and see, until then, people are just going to interpret it however they wish.

It states in every post Amazon, face book, and even here that she’s a female. What is there up for interpretation? Tyrannosaurus Rex is referred to as a Rex regardless of gender, it’s just the species name my guy. That being said I’d prefer not to call her Tyrannocon Rex, that’s just lazy naming right there. It feels more like a species/build name like Seeker, or Vehicon, then an actual name.

I can’t decide between renaming her Tyra, Roberta, Regina, or Princess Bitey.
(If anybody has better names feel free to give suggestions :3)

Wow, an all new mold. And with an exquisite deco. I suspect JP93 is a pre-tool for earhmode Hound, however.

Also, excellent looking figures, but they have the shittiest names off all time. Erector was funny at least. These names are just unimaginative as hell.

Or is this another one of those situations where the character is referred to as one gender, but 'identifies themselves' as some other gender....? The head sculpt is nice - pity I have no interest in this figure, having already dismissed Barney Megatron and "T-Wrecks".

Tyrannosaurus Rex is the name of the species, which includes both sexes.

Okay guys. Okay. I’m not the biggest fan of JP, but gosh dang is this an awesome looking set. I did not expect the JP93 to be apart of this set, but it’s brought this set from a “maybe” to an IMMEDIATE preorder. Rex’s head sculpt is epic, but just cause I’m a sucker for face plates and visor eyes. Make anything look bad A with those two things. Even how amazingly they’re displayed in box is just a cherry on top.

Gotta agree with everyone else on this one though, the asking price for this is a new level of high. I expected $90, and I thought that was being generous. Breaking the $100 barrier is a little frightening for a leader/deluxe class combo. But I’m a sucker, and I can’t expect them to lower their prices when I buy out everything they’ve got like without hesitation lol.

I thought It was expensive too, but I suspect those extra dollars have gone mostly to the decos. They seem very complex. I'm sure there's an extra fiver or so in there just to take advantage of brand recognition and to make up for licensing, but most of it has clearly gone into the paint schemes.

Idk man, these names aren’t great, but I’m pretty sure the crown of cringe naming would still have to go to the X-Men collaboration X-Spanse. That name just makes these look original and clever as heck lol.

Is the Vehicle a Deluxe? I thought it was a Voyager? Wow yeah... $70 worth of content, plus maybe $10-15 for retooling, not seeing the justification for $100+

If it's JP93 and Tyranocon Rex VS X-Spance, I prefer X-Spance. They're all really bad, though.

Paint is bumping the cost up remember, these have more Paint in them than tfs of similar classes. That and the licence will bump up the costs as its not simply the Jurassic Park ip at play, but the Ford branding.

NOW you're talking!
That set is absolutely gorgeous and bad-ass at the same time! At 105US dollars, it's as if it will be roughly 30$CAN more than the regular price for a deluxe and a leader. Could be worse. But I don't trust Canadian pricing and I expect the set to rather cost something like 120$US or even 130$US. And if it's badly distributed like the Top Gun Maverick bot, it will be a huge nope.

This will be a wait and see for the Canadian market.

Plus, a woman being a "King" is pretty old school.

I swear I see a future Armada Red Alert in that jeep. Would work for skids too, but I can't unsee Red Alert.

There's also Cybertron Downshift. We are getting a Skids next tear though, so we'll probably see hints of this toy in that one.

If it had been the Jeep Wrangler instead of the Ford, I'd be all over this. As it is, it's a nice set but seems like a missed opportunity for me.

Also, kinda sad there's no JP logo on the T-Rex anywhere, since that was a hasbro thing when they had the license. Would have been a neat "faction symbol" :-P

Ooof! I'm off by a vowel going with an 'a' instead of an 'o' for my username. Eh, suppose that is close enough I guess. XD

Hopefully, I can still put my pre-order in for it when I have a bit more breathing room for it in my checkbook. Really love the fact the Rex is a Decepticon and using my username minus the letter difference.

Has Hasbro reused any of these Collaborative molds? I'm still waiting for more Hearse Transformers from Ectotron.

I'm making up my own names for these two
They are, um, Tyrannissa and Parkour

Man, that set looks ultra rad! Rexy came out better than I could have hoped (I am still going to call her that, sorry Tyrano-folks) and JP93 is a weird name akin to B-127, but I dig it. Looks like it uses the SS86 Jazz tooling, looks like it in the waist and the way the arms and shoulders function. But as a new mold, shared engineering.

Looks great, I preordered it. I am excited to eventually have 3 T-Rexes. Probably only 1 will actually be in Dino mode, which is OK, Rex rules

I gotta say....this two-pack is really cool! Tyrannocon looks amazing in T. rex mode. :D

Before I read that Tyrannocon was a female Decepticon, I thought that the robot mode might be a tribute of sorts to Action Master Snarl's weapon partner Tyrannitron, giving him a humanoid robot mode. Sure, this toy is red vs orange, but otherwise...it's close.

I know we already got a Beast Wars\Kingdom Grimlock....but it isn't too difficult to imagine Tyrannocon getting a repaint as a more G1-ish Grimlock. Instead of being tan and brown, the T. rex mode could be mostly grays, while some of the red in robot mode can be replaced with more gray and yellow or gold.

Speaking of Beast Wars\Kingdom Grimlock, I was wondering how his head might look on Beast Wars Megatron's body. Tyrannocon shows (at least to me) that it would work very well.

A Decepticon hearse would be rather interesting. Give it the name Deathbed.

Rex is clearly a title/word in Latin that refers specifically to a male person. So we're calling a female Tyrannosaurus "King"? It's like saying "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith" includes both sexes, even though the female in that duo is NOT John, she's Susan.

I realize this probably isn't coming out the way a I'd like, but I'm not really sure how to articulate it.

Even though I like it and preordered it, I ain’t happy about the price and it’s Amazon exclusivity. But I guess it’s better than Target at this point…

JP93 just reeks of potential Skids-iness.

It's literally the name of the species. I don't think it's sexist. It IS generic, though. Queen in latin is "Regina", I think. Probably a weird name for a robot, since it is an actual name people use. Although Randy exists...
