General questions about titans, Unicron, and other large Transformers.

So, I had to pass on the haslab Unicron (just too expensive for me), but I did pick up a Takara 2010 Unicron.

It's not a bad figure and kinda fills the void, but I was wondering if there are any upgrades/mods you'd recommend?

Thanks!

2010 Takara Unicron Upgrades/Mods

So I let the haslab unicron pass me by - too expensive.

Unfortunately, it ate at me, and I picked up a 2010 Takara Unicron (Armada mold).

Does anyone know if any mods/upgrades for this figure? I already have a 3d printed stand for planet mode.

Thanks!

Most "playable" Titan

So I've kept a lot of my old transformers in a glass case over the years. Thankfully my parents saved them.

My 2-year-old has shown quite a bit of interest lately, and I introduced him to my old fortress Maximus and a few of these tiny [micro master?] vehicles transformers. They make quite the playset!

I've been thinking of picking up some modern incarnations, but I'm unsure of what to get. With regard to the Titan class transformers there doesn't seem to be as much playability: there's no radar dish, elevator, launch pads or any of the other old gimmicks from Fort Max, unless I'm mistaken. Am I mistaken? Can you please advise?

The new ark looks pretty cool, but beyond landing gear and a ramp he just doesn't have much going for him...

I think the most "playable titan" is definitely Siege Omega Supreme. You can still get him at some stores like BBTS.

The transformation is simple plus the bot is magnificent and posable. He comes with a micromaster and fire blast effects. In base mode, he separate in 3 components. The base who work super well as a micromasters race track, a big fat tank, and a rocket to woosh around.

A kid will have a blast with him.
Have a video review:

I dunno if this topic should be in the third party forum, or the transtopia forum, but whatever.

The "best" Unicrons to have are indeed either the 2010 Takara or the "Amazon" one as far as official G1 representation goes.

As far that I know, there is only one "upgrade kit" that ever existed for the Armada Unicron mold and it's the THRONE OF CHAOS. It's a perfect stand made out of plexiglass to display the planet mode. You're 10 years too late to buy it though.

There's another planet stand that exist, but its way less stable than the Throne. Still better than nothing I guess:
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/333718894830?ha ... SwdP9fXEZ0

As for Shapeway things, there's nothing. Their search engine also suck bowling balls because the more words you add to "refine" your search, the MORE random results you get.

BTW, appart the planet stand, the Armada Unicron mold don't need any upgrades.

I agree with everything Kanra said. But just to be clear, is this for your collection or for your 2 year old or both? If it's for your kid alone then there's a number of big chunky Optimus Prime figures he'd probably like from Rescue Bot like the upcoming 15" Optimus Prime Jumbo Jet Wing Racer.

Thanks! Agree with the 10-years to late comment. Crying shame they charged so much for the WFC Unicron. Titans are ~$170, so why not double they price and call it a day or just make a titan class version of the haslab one? Oh well...

I have a couple of stands printed off from thingiverse. I also purchased 3d-printed teeth and "uni-cork" from eBay. I tightened up the "wings" and "shells" by using clear keyboard O-rings.

Thanks! For both reasons.

Metroplex Re-Reissue?

I missed out of the new iteration of metroplex as well as the Takara LG-EX. Any news about another re-issue or am I out of luck? Thanks!

Well, there's a few more upgrades if you just look through ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/233645233676?h ... Swpq1fB-Ai - This stand looks awfully tempting. I have the throne of chaos, but I have more Unicrons, so maybe I'll get this one too.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/233775669908?h ... SwyoNfyvbg - Some space ships. I think the same guy made some custom plants for him to munch of, but they don't look that great.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/333990264353?h ... SwFM5gkyLK - There's a 3d printed sword too.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/124811951885?h ... SwamJg78Zz - Although my favorite add-on is even more Dead Ends! I just litter my Unicron with a whole bunch of them.

There used to be different LEDs for the eyes and hand, but I guess they aren't being made any more.

Speaking of Dead Ends, mine that came with my Amazon Unicron came with TWO RIGHT FEET.
Sigh.....

Finding a spare will not be easy and will be expensive. #-o

Be persistent and you might be able to find one. I got a spare by constantly looking and eventually someone was selling an incomplete Unicron. I convinced him to sell me just just the Dead End by offering half of the figure's price.

No news at all. You are way, way too late for getting a Generations Metroplex at normal price. Especially because recently, the demand is so high that it's not rare to see it getting sold for 500$ or more.

But personally, Gen Metroplex suck mighty balls. He was barely worth the original price and he's certainly NOT worth that insane after market price. I say either you wait for a redo of Metroplex by Hasbro or Takara, with better quality and better engineering, or you say "F it" and go for a Third Party like the magnificent (but impossible to find) Maketoys Utopia.

What do you think is/are the best titan (s)?

Kanra was right about the Throne of Chaos being great, by BrownNoize in Massachusetts, but it has long been unavailable. It was all thick acrylic and looked great but even flat packed it wasn't cheap.

The Unicron.com version, the first stand release via Botcon, looks great at first but is extremely fragile and i have heard some horror stories over the years about it snapping like toothpick with Unicron being a bowling ball in a collection room; thus why the Throne was made as a more stable option later on.

Gauntlet is right on the money about the new stands and add ons.
I have dealt personally with the eBay seller, Alx, and he puts out some high quality work , can do some customization and if you buy a decent amount, he can work with you.
I personally have a stand for my Unicron from him as well as a set of teeth, they look great giving a more accurate look to him in planet mode, and i also got a set of GITD spheres to put on the ring. This eliminated the need to hunt down more Dead Ends at a much more cost effective way.
The extras of the spheres went to G2 Primus; they look excellent on him too.
Do what works for your collection and wallet the best but if you do make the move, the Alt items are recommended to all.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider the best Titan class figure?

It was the right price for HASLAB Unicron. I'm sure even a K.O. downsized HASLAB Unicron to titan class would be quite expensive.

So yeah, better stick with Amazon or 2010 Unicron.

Understandable double post. The system should haveeee learned by now that you're a legit poster.

Anyway, for the BEST titan yet, my vote go for Siege Omega Supreme. He's fun to handle, is impressive looking, and have the most play value. If you don't have it yet, you have one last chance to get it for normal retail at BBTS:

https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Search?S ... ga+Supreme

I don't have Black Zarak yet, but the general consensus praise Earthrise Scorponok. As to where to get it, good luck.

The only Titan I've ever owned is Combiner Wars Devastator, who's mostly OK, but isn't aging very well. I might get the Kingdom Ark, not sure yet, though I still kind of want Siege Omega, even though I've passed up on getting it many times.

Get it on BBTS NOW.
Or regret it forever when he will be 500$ on the aftermarket.

Apologies for the double post. Sometimes the website does not appear to post back correctly, and I can't tell if it actually processed my response...

Kapow Toys still have him for £140, a little bit lower than his RRP, but not sure if I can justify spending that much money while I have a £450 tax bill to pay.

Just pointing out that I merged your 3 topics together. They had pretty much the same subject matter and it will be a bit more consistent.

Welcome to Seibertron by the way. Let's hope your posts won't need to be manually approved soon.

Thanks for consolidating! And apologies again for the duplicative posts!

I appreciate all the responses!

My 2-year-old seems to be pretty advanced, but I think he mostly enjoys driving cars around the ramps on Fort Max, so maybe some sort of race-track may be more appropriate...

In regard to unicron upgrades, I have a 3D printed stand, the unicork, and upgraded teeth.

For a two years old, I think there's some Fisher Price stuff that would be great. There's also the good old classic of the "carpet city streets."

For safety and for fun reasons, I'd recommend Rescue Bots for his first Transformers.
