For a line that says "Masterpiece", implying that level of attainment to their design/aesthetic etc. Both can't really be judged as successful in that regard.

Still kibbly with "backpack" cancer, but at least he looks a bit cleaner than Bee.

It's not saying much.

Similar amount of kibble to Origins 'Bee?

If so, THAT'S what Earthrise shoulda looked like...

If I were a fan of either of these characters, I'd be insulted by the effort. Or lack thereof. "Only looks good from the front" shouldn't be the standard for Masterpieces.

Gappy bots and alt modes aren’t masterpieces.
They aren’t works of art or fine robot toy engineering either.
Who’s with me?

Everyone.

Especially when the damn thing will retail for 150$+.
This sure ain't a MP Skids/Reboost.

For the price I can't say I'm impressed, for about $120 less I have something else that suffices quite well.
Also the fact that the doors become the bottom of the feet is poor engineering as it will most likely cause scuffing when displayed in bot mode. I used to like MP a lot but ever since they basically doubles in price they just aren't worth it anymore versus the standard TF line.

That is, unless they release more like MP Skids and Reboost who are marvelous and barely cost more than a standard leader class.

Sheesh, looks like they really don't know what to do when it comes to smaller bots. MP Skids looks fantastic and deserving of the "Masterpiece" label, but this looks like they just borrowed engineering from close cousin Bumblebee and called it a day. It's...at least...cleaner?
I never really cared for Masterpieces but this seems odd compared to the aftermentioned Skids and Shouki - at least Shouki has combiner tasks so I can excuse THAT kibble.

I think both BB and Cliffjumper's design has united both cartoon-accurate and "classic aesthetic" MP fans in their mutual disgust for these figures This is what happens when one thing interferes, and take precedence over the overall aesthetic qualities of an object. In this case, a supposedly and so-called "masterpiece" figure.

Just like with most of the cartoonified MPs, this is an easy pass for me. There are 3P, possible KO versions and even the current "CHUG" figures that are of a standard these days to be considered spiritual successors to the MP line.

Or, in the vernacular, it looks like dogsh*t.

Short answer, no. This cartoon "accurate" nonsense has to end in my opinion as it's NOT accurate. Bee did't have exploded nonsense for a backpack and feet in the cartoon, itself full of errors.

The closest it seems you'll likely get to an "accurate" MP BB, based on HasTak's efforts is this one:

and just buy a separate one of these:

(adding some repro labels)

Considering BB (and Cliffjumper, by extension) are icons of the series. The quality of the MP's would really suggest Takara doesn't care that much for him.

I look at Starscream/Thundercracker 2.0 and Skids/Reboost. Effort was made and hard work was put into the designs. I don't get that same impression here.

True enough, though I am fond of the first MP Bumblebee.

Am I the only one who thinks that this Cliffjumper being a reshelling of Bumblebee v2 is a bit suspect? :-?

Suspect how?

One thing is sure, that's a lazy design. Like applying lipstick to a pig.

I'd have expected TakaraTomy to make him all-new, while this reshell is more a "3P" approach. Still... :-?

I'm more concerned(?) about the lack of info from Japan. Seems like we should have gotten an official announcement, Twitter tease, or magazine spread by now. Maybe they know how underwhelmed we all are about it.
