Help with toy id

While I used to primarily collect g1 toys I did stray from time to time. Such as a g2 megaton repaint bc the g1 megaton was hideous.

I remember always wanting a sr-71 style jet but that never happened(before the movie and it’s hideous too) anyway somehow I came across this really neat looking big black jet but do not remember it’s identity.

Hopefully you guys can help. Judging from its face it may be from a Japanese toy line.

Whatever the case it’s badass looking, is it desirable at all? Just for my curiosity?

Easy. That's Machine Wars Starscream. Most likely incomplete without his missiles.

He's a repaint of G1 Skyquake. Universe Dai Atlas was the final version of that mold.

As for desirability, he has a couple of advantages compared to the original and the final redeco:

- The original Skyquake suffers from what we call Gold Plastic Syndrome, in which the gold parts break at the drop of a hat... no wait, not even then.
- The later King Atlas version is mostly white... You guessed it, risk of yellowing.
- The black just looks AWESOME!

The toy does have a gimmick that was neutered in the later two releases, but I don't know if the physical parts are removed, or are just left blank.

I forget this was LATE LATE original series, and keep thinking it originated with the Machine Wars version. It would be nice for some of the 1991 and 1992 releases that only reached parts of Europe and Japan to get updates in the Generations line at some point.

Out of that era, it was mostly FunPub that did the updating, but Hasbro's catching up with Selects Rotorstorm.

In a sense, Machine Wars was Generations Select long before Botcon, Funpub, and Generations Select were a thing. :-?

Many thanks, I will look to see what all accessories it came with. It does have a bunch of green bombs where the engines are. You turn a knob and they fall out.

I have a few non-g1 toys I picked up back in the day bc they looked too neat to pass up.

Congrats for having the best version of the mold. And complete!
