Shattered Glass Collection

IMG_8149.jpg

Day 4- The Shattered Glass Collection from Hasbro Pulse. I admit it: I'm a convert. I had enough mirror-universe with Star Trek, and didn't need it with Transformers. Or, thought I didn't. Now, I'm looking forward to series two.

There are favorites within favorites, so some of these will show up in this list by themselves over the next 31 days, but I wanted to represent that I'm loving all of Shattered Glass, especially not being into it before. There are also non-favorites within favorites. I'm not in love with Blurr, mostly because my copy has floppy arm guards (which my Studio Series 86 one does not).

We know series two is coming, and we know some of the guys. But who do you hope to see they haven't made or planned for? Personally, I want a Prowl with him being on the triumvirate of evil.

For day 4, my pick is an older figure, but 1 I didn't get until this year: deluxe Universe Cyclonus with Nightstick.

I actually got 2 of him, to go on my TF:TM shelf as Kingdom Cyclonus's "armada," the guys we never see again after Unicron creates them. I got 2 deluxe Scourges to represent SS86 Scourge's sweeps, so it just felt right to give Cyclonus his lackeys as well. Any excuse to buy more TFs, right?

As for the figure itself, there's nothing I dislike about it, I wish I had gotten him sooner. He's very posable, his alt mode looks good, and I love Targetmasters.

And you just posted about Shattered Glass, I'm planning on getting that SG Cyclonus that has Rodimus's colors. Looks great. Is he officially part of the Shattered Glass universe?

I don't know that I have a defined favorites-of-the-year list yet (especially considering my Tigatron is actively en-route), but I simply cannot resist some SG discourse:

Prowl's new/current color scheme is cool, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to one, but my biggest Shattered Glass want is Grimlock (and I guess by extension, the shithead Wheelie he'll probably have to come with? Ugh).

I'd also be down for the Insecticons, but I mostly just want those Diaclone colors released in some way, they don't have to specifically be SG releases.

He hasn't shown up in the current ones yet, to my knowledge, but in the original FunPub fiction that release aligned with he was a decently involved player, getting manipulated by Alpha Trion into killing Megatron and causing the need for his resurrection as Galvatron before later seeking redemption and returning to the fold with Galvatron's blessing as one of the main characters of a later story.

The only interest I have in SG is for redecoes that have appeared outside of SG, and I generally don't do Diaclone, so that's pretty limited. I would love Action Master Thundercracker in the line, for example. I'm pretty excited to get Slicer that way, even if it means the faction symbol will be wrong.

Grimlock in Trypticon's colors and Wheelie fully purple like Full-Tilt?

And thanks for the story info on SG Cyclonus. I had no idea.

I mean, if you're going to send your own topic off the rails then I want Dirge!

He lever got made in the FunPub line and I love the yellow and black combo on him. They can pack in a Cyberverse mini Repugnus "Pesticon" in blue and white as a homage to his Pretender shell.

And yes, Grimlock for sure.

Just as an aside. Discussion is what this is for. Besides, I bring it back on track literally every day.

Kingdom Ultra Magnus

IMG_8155.jpg

Day 5 - It's probably no surprise Ultra Magnus is my favorite character of all characters. In my trinity of characters it's him, Prime and Prowl. If they make one that's not a premium paint repaint of one I already have I'm pretty much buying it just because. Hip deep in Masterpiece I still bought Transformers: Prime and Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus. I'm probably going to paint my 20 buck Ollies Netflix Magnus into Delta since they just won't do it officially. I'm hoping the rumoured SG Magnus is this one. It doesn't matter though, whatever it is, I'll be getting it. 'Cause Magnus.

Anyway, mine has some slight customization in that I swapped guns with the Siege version. The Kingdom gun is a gunmetal gray and has a somewhat worn look as opposed to Kingdom UM's squeaky clean look, so I found the one he has to be a better match - the idea of which has shades of Vortex's observation in The Ultimate Weapon. Not seen in the photo, but he has been modified to carry a Matrix via upgrade kit. I love upgrade kits.

Yes. I think about this stuff entirely too much.

No such thing. He's your favorite character, he can get all the TLC you want to give him. :-D

I also love Kingdom Magnus, and have come around to be a fan of Ultra Magnus in general ever since MTMTE started in 2012. Before then, to me he was just another background character. My only upgrade kit for him is a pair of thigh extenders which make him taller and more in proportion in Ultra mode.

Anyway, my day 5 pick is a throwback, all the way. G1 Megatron.

I had owned this figure 20-some years ago, and had him displayed in gun mode by having him sit on nails in a wall. Then in 2004 I moved and forgot him!!! The new owner of the place never got back to me about coming to get him back, so I lost him. He was complete, too. :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD:

This year, I made a trade deal with -Kanrabat- from these boards, and I asked him to include G1 Megatron if he could find him in good shape. So I got OG Megs back, even if it's just the base gun figure. I can get all his extras later.

He will go well with my few other G1 guys I still have.

Well, so far it's probably Dinobot from Kingdom. He's just a cool toy overall. A mini-Masterpiece. Doesn't hurt he's tied with Bluestreak as my all-time favorite TF character. ;)

If I got a G1 Megatron this year, he'd definitely be on my list. Bravo!

Commenting to track this thread.

I will say, the Ark/Iaconus is probably my favorite "new toy" purchase made this year, with Tigatron, Dino, Thrust, and Galvatron II.

As for favorite purchased period, I will need to double check the beginning of the year, because I think I got my DotM Ultimate Optimus this year, and if I did, he will easily top the list. He has all the parts: swords, hooks, guns, stealth force shield, knuckles, etc. and is perfect.

I'll throw my first entry into the ring. The Galactic Odyssey Botropolis set. I loved the city building aspect of TR/Siege/ER and this set was a great finish to the overall concept (Rodimus' trailer and Black Zarak aside).

City 4.jpg

This also made me realize that we received over half the ER Amazon Exclusive GO sets and are slated to receive at least half the Kingdom Amazon Exclusive Golden Disc sets within 2021.

Studio Series 86 Dinobots

IMG_8157.jpg

In my world, Dinobots have swords!

Day 6 - The Dinobots! They kicked it off with my two favorites of all time and I can't wait to get the other three. As you will see before it's all over, I think Studio Series 86 has really knocked it out of the park.

For my day 6 pick I second this, but mainly for Slag. I like Grimlock too, but I'm a Grimlock collector so even though he's a great figure in his own right, he doesn't stand out as well as Slag does. What makes this Slag even more special to me is that 1st I completely dismissed him based on scale. I just thought he was too big, he should have been smaller than Grimlock. But then I paid more attention to his dino mode and found it very appealing. (I still don't like that he has so much red on him in robot mode, but it's a small peeve.) So now he's quickly become 1 of my favorites to handle and even just look at. Slag rules! ;)^

Studio Series Hot Rod

IMG_8161.jpg

Day 7 - If I had been doing this with any sense of dramatic timing, or an overall plan, I would have featured Hot Rod first. He was, however, always meant for this list. While an early 2021 purchase, he hasn't suffered any degradation of his position as a favorite. I'm well aware of the controversial nature of his being a Voyager, but to me, it's not controversial at all. I feel overall he's worth the money.

The minor flaws I find with him are more an annoyance when attempting to animate him. It's not easy to do hand-to-hand fighting with him due to how his arms work. He probably does more shooting than punching, anyway.

In the end, I think any collector passing on Hot Rod is probably just somebody who just doesn't like Hot Rod. I don't how you'd make one much better than this (other than improving the arms somehow).

Didn't like the first pic.

Yeah he's a surprisingly good figure.

For my day 7 pick, it's Kingdom Ultra Magnus. I had purchased Siege Magnus but the battle damage and the way he was treated in the actual story didn't sit well with me, so when this version was announced I was all over it. I had hoped they would do the same for Shockwave, where we got an actual leader class figure, but oh well.

I made some comments about Kingdom Magnus on the previous page as well, so all I will say is that he's overall my top favorite purchase so far. He just looks great and is actually pretty poseable for a big figure.

Shattered Glass Megatron

IMG_8151.jpg

Day 8 - A week in and I'm enjoying the mental exercise. When I did the whole of Shattered Glass (thus far) I said there were favorites within favorites and there were. Shattered Glass Megatron uses the Siege mold, which is well worn at this point, but still makes decent figures at 6(?) re-uses in. This one is a favorite because I enjoy how they've written him in the comic series, which is still the arrogant Megatron we've all come to know, just not...evil.

There's an upgrade package out there that sort of makes him more accurate to past portrayals, but I passed on it due to the reviews of it being marginal. I feel he's good as is, and have kept him as he is accordingly.

This is a great thread!

I too purchased a ton of figures this year. Just got into the hobby last May after not owning any since the original G1 figures as a little kid (and a purchase to get an Astrotrain and the Insecticons back in '03/'04). I started off just getting Decepticons but eventually couldn't help myself and started getting Autobots.

My first Autobot purchase this year was the Netflix Ultra Magnus spoiler pack. For $34 bucks I couldn't resist and I really enjoy this deco. He's a great looking figure. His truck mode is excellent. Getting the special deco of Rung with him is a nice bonus.

Can't go wrong with Ultra Magnus.

I just bought a Fortress Maximus, so...guess he'll be making an appearance in here before the year is out.

I'm a little late, but my day 8 pick is a figure I got just yesterday: Siege Soundwave. I had passed on him previously, in light of the Netflix version, but I decided to get this version anyway, and despite my disdain for the battle damage, I had a lot of fun messing around with him. His alt mode is forgettable, but the robot mode looks great. I'm debating customizing him and repainting him purple or magenta, like he was in the Marvel comics.

Siege Omega Supreme

IMG_8160.jpg

Day 9 - BBTS got a restock of him in April and I took advantage, because Pulse had a restock of Devastator that shipped in January. Unfortunately, Devastator is NOT one of my favorite acquisitions, but lets just say Omega Supreme won't be the only Titan Class or Siege figure on this list.

Anyway, this is the Omega Supreme we wish we had as kids (or at least I wish I had). Plus he comes with blast effects and my favorite Micromaster of all time: Countdown.

I too took advantage of that April restock. Omega is awesome in every way. I recently had him set up in base mode and had Siege Prime, Cog, Impactor, Ironhide, and Crosshairs all on him comfortably in their vehicle modes.
I also love recreating the scene from "Blaster Blues" where Omega grabs Astrotrain with his claw!

I'll jump on the day 9 Omega bandwagon as well, as I acquired my Omega Supreme this spring also. Scorponok had been my favorite Titan until Omega, but I enjoyed messing around with Omega more, so he has taken his place as my favorite Titan. And much like with Ultra Magnus, when I was a kid I didn't really care about him in either the cartoon or comic, but Dreamwave made him 1 of my favorites in their story with Sunstorm back in 2003, I believe. Since then, I had been waiting for a proper Omega Supreme, and we finally got one.

Is this a fair fight?
