Rise of the Beasts Toyline Discussion

While we did have some code name listings before, we finally get a full breakdown of the movie line with the characters in it. There is no Battletrap toy in the classes we know of but there is another character we had not heard of yet called Crescent. You will see which characters get a deluxe toy, and which ones are part of the more gimmick driven classes. The entire line seems to mirror the current Cyberverse line where most are toys targeting just kids (as we saw for the Bumblebee line) along with a deluxe class which can appeal to anyone, while not being conscious of scale. Anyone wishing for the ROTF line again can forget that, this is basically the Cyberverse line but for the next movie. Take that as you will.

Now the very interesting part of all this is that these toys were due in 4 months from now, same time as Legacy wave 2. So, will this toyline be delayed to be in stores when the movie is out in 2023, or will it still go to shelves as we saw with the Minions Rise of Gru film? This has been a growing trend with movie delays and associated merchandise and you can read more about that here.

Ok, so without further ado, here is the full Transformers Rise of the Beasts line meant to be out with the film:

Deluxe Class (assortment 5010993983308)

Deluxe Bumblebee
Deluxe Mirage
Deluxe Wheeljack
Deluxe Airazor
Deluxe Nightbird

Beast Battle Master Class

Optimus Primal (5010993952069)
Cheetor (5010993952106)
Crescent (5010993952076)
Airazor (5010993952090)
Rhinox (5010993952113)
Beast Mode Bumblebee (5010993983773)

Power Combiners

2pk Optimus Prime (5010993958634)
2pk Bumblebee (5010993958436)
2pk Wheeljack (5010993958399)
2pk Scourge (5010993958696)
2pk Arcee (5010993958429)
2pk Optimus Primal (5010993958382)

Power Alliance (the assumption is these are Transformers with an armor/weaponizer you attach)

2pk Optimus Prime (5010993958733)
2pk Optimus Primal (5010993958719)
2pk Arcee (5010993958740)
2pk Wheeljack (5010993958399)

Smash Changers

Optimus Prime (5010993958474)

Battle Changer

Bumblebee (5010993958405)
Mirage (5010993958832)
Rhinox (5010993958849)

Bumblebee 2 in 1 Mask (5010993941094)

There will also be one steps called 'Power Step' (5010993960736), and class for smaller figures calle Spark Racers (5010993983407), as well as Spark Chargers class (5010993983117) and Roleplay Basic Masks (5010993961238).

So a pretty big line with 10+ classes filled with Beast characters, "G1" characters and the Bad Guys Scourge and Nightbird. Also, the concept art in the Thumbnails is not indicative of final designs, just based on descriptions already given by the film staff, and they are courtesy of Lazlo Ven.

Interesting that this seems to be following the cyberverse model. At least they learned to have a deluxe class right away

Yeah, that what makes it slightly different from the Bumblebee movie line model. Interesting thing though, all those deluxe characters are indeed characters which would be a deluxe class in a Generations line.

So there’s going to be different 2 Wheeljacks on shelves at the same time? Interesting.

What’s Beast mode bumblebee gonna be? A Bee? An actual Bee?

The movie is delayed by a year, we are not certain when this line will be out on shelves

I was going to make a joke about him turning into Cheetor, but I guess it isn't a joke anymore.

Got to wonder, if they're doing Deluxe figures then why not just make them Studio Series in the first place rather than wait to include them in 2023? Are we just going to get repaints and a few new molds in 2023 then?

Seems a bit too close to Cheetor for comfort if that’s the case.

Also, I though that while the move is delayed, the toy line would not be… or is the toy line also delayed?

Nobody knows, but if it's anything like all the toy lines for delayed movies that Hasbro and other companies have been handling (Black Window, Shang Chi, Wonder Woman 1984) the line is still going to come out regardless. The shelf space is already reserved and judging from the lineup it would take a lot to fill that void, at this point probably lots of Cyberverse and SS repacks.

Just to put all elements on the table, there is a new toyline coming out in 2022 for the next Transformers show
https://www.seibertron.com/transformers ... tor/45898/
And both Target and Walmart have their own sublines for extra product in 2022.
However, I too think this product will be out in 2022, the delay was announced too far into the product cycle. And we already did have 4 separate general TF toylines coexisting at once with 0 impact on availability (especially with the SS line almost being seasonal in existence on shelves).
If the delay is to change the character designs, then who knows when we'll get accurate looking versions of the models for the toys.

All stuff that already reserved their shelf space alongside the Beast movie stuff, SS, Legacy and whatever else is happening next year. Toy Fair is going to be VERY interesting in a little over a month, we should know for sure what Hasbro's plans are then, be it continue as planned or find a replacement.

How about due to the delay, the movie design might have time to change to look MORE closely to the toys? That's be a first.

Most likely that's the reason why they were going to wait until 2023 to do Studio Series figures for this movie, but if they're delaying the movie to adjust the designs then it may have all been for nothing.

So that line will be the "Kid's line" like they did for the Bumblebee Movie?

Interesting to see what gimmicks they'll come up with. :-?

Well, almost, there is a non-SS Deluxe lineup. This whole thing feels very The Last Knight where we got a bunch of different gimmicky classes alongside a normal figure line that would partially find its way into Studio Series later on. Only thing I really find concerning is the lack of a Voyager or Leader class and the only Deluxe beast at launch is Airrazor. Aside from Deluxe it is kinda pointless to speculate on what we're getting with nothing to base these new names on.

There are 2 gimmicks we can talk about. One is a combiner gimmick which I assume is similar to the roll and combine figures we have been getting from Cyberverse and the other is a kind of weaponizer gimmick where a character will come with an extra vehicle of some sorts that combines with them to armour up, also like in Cyberverse.

I'm going to be very sad is Nightbird is just a repaint of Air Razor (even with a new head).

I don't know how I feel about BB being a Beast, or that this takes place in 96. In my mind Beat Wars should take place back in prehistoric Earth. While I like the old series I wasn't that into the figures, likely because they seemed very limited/dated for 99 era. And I don't see this movie changing my mind on Beast Bots any time soon. With it being delayed maybe it will give them time to get other product out sufficiently.

We already know what Nightbird is, we saw her in the principle shoot, she's a car.

Anyways, Emerge, seems like Canadian Walmarts are definitely anticipating more product in 2022

remember this: while Bumblebee could certainly turn into his bug namesake, it seems the T-Beast generations book could potentially be having a farther reach than they could have imagined

It's amazing

Transformers Rise of the Beast Toyline Still Currently Expected to Come out in April 2022

PostPosted: Sun Jan 16, 2022 11:46 pm
by william-james88
When we did the year end review, what most of us selected as what we were looking forward to seeing this year was what will happen with the Rise of the Beast toyline. As we saw with Godzilla vs Kong, Black Widow, Snake Eyes and Rise of Gru, toy manufacturers and retailers cannot delay a toyline, even though it would benefit from being released at the same time as the movie it is linked to. It seems the loss of sale from a lack of cross promotion is not as big as the cost of storing all these products in warehouses for months on end, disrupting the established global supply chain from the factory to the retailer. And that's just on the supplying end, with issues and loss of revenue also incurred on the retailer end due to a planned product that is not being supplied/stocked and sold.
And unlike with Godzilla or Minions, Transformers is a toy brand that stands on it's own, with a dedicated space and dedicated core market.

I wrote all that to explain what seems to be the outcome chosen by Hasbro regarding what happens to the Rise of the Beasts toyline. According to this article from TFW2005, retailers around the world have been given April 2022 as their supply date. Toys may come later, or before, but that is the intended date for the wave 1 toys to be at retailers. We also learn that there will be multiple waves, with the second wave planned for August 2022.

Since the movie is already finished with the live action shooting, that means the bulk of what is left is the CGI effects, where the bots come into play. And with a whole extra year to deal with that part, it is very likely that the toys in the Rise of the Beasts line will not reflect the final look of the characters. This will probably be fine for fans and kids alike since, for the fans, the toyline was never aimed at them and, for kids, there won't be anything to compare the toys to. It will simply be another toyline on the shelf for parents to buy and kids to want. If you want to know the contents of the toyline so far, please click here.

There had been some rumours of more screen accurate toys coming out for fans after the movie is released, but there was never any concrete evidence as to when. As they did with car mode Dropkick and Jet mode Shatter, Hasbro may wat until they have the final CGC models to base their sculpts on, meaning accurate figures for the film could come out only in 2024.

And yes, to further confirm, the Rise of the Beasts toyline that is currently set to be coming to stores in 2022 is going to be very similar to the Cyberverse toyline with a myriad of classes based on different gimmicks. It will be interesting to see if Hasbro promotes it at all. The Bumblebee movie line was not heavily promoted to fans with it's announcement coming from the GeekDad website.

One last thing, since Transformers toylines tend to sell on the basis that they are Transformers toys, movie lines are usually stocked for 2 years/holiday seasons rather than just when the film is out (hence why it was nonstop movie product on shelves between ROTF and DOTM). So it could very well be that the cross promotion will still have a chance to be in full effect in 2023 when the movie comes out.

Looking forward to seeing how Wheeljack and the beasts look like. Plus, we'll get some art on the boxes giving us first look at the original character models. Surprised there haven't been any leaks on this, though Hasbro is usually more sensitive to movie related stuff.
