To anyone else who's found the '09 Bumblebee... are you seeing a lot of problems with the paint apps? The yellow parts, in particular, seem to be thin in places on mine. The paint on one of his feet, the front black part, was pretty thin, too. Wondering if this was just mine, or if this appears to be a common problem.
And FYI for anyone who does have the problem... I've had a yellow Gundam paint pen in my kitbashing kit for a while and, to my surprise, it's a GREAT match. So if you have one, or know a place where you can get Gundam markers, there's a good fix if you're having similar problems.

I just got mine today at Walmart and his eye is nicked so I took it back and they gave me 2 back from their back room for the inconvenience of driving twice there. But all seem to be consistent in there inconsistent paint app.

I've bought a takara 08 BB - I hope his paint apps are nicer than all the dodgey hasbro ones I'm hearing about.

My BB had a faded Autobot logo, like half of it is completely gone!

I notice some bad paint parts on my doors and a little bit of scratched paint on one of the backlights, but it still feels kind of sloppy.

Ok--check out this pic of Ultimate Bumblebee from Botcon. How hard would it be to duplicate the paint from this figure? Notice the silver details and the cool autobot logo on the hood. I know it's just a deluxe figure, but I think the extra effort would be worth it!

08 Bumblebee has the worst painting of any deluxe figure I have ever seen.
I know that they had to scrimp and save money from otehr areas because he has a very complex transformation for a Deluxe figure, and also has a fair amount of detailing, but would it really have been so hard for them to finish painting the doors and rear-view mirrors properly?

to cut the story short, hasbro sucks when it comes to paint jobs... articulation wise, detailed sculpts superb, gimmicks are attractive but paint is worse than kenner's g.i.joe...

Ultimate Bumblebee is molded in that plastic. (Which makes me wonder if he'll suffer from GPS*...)
Deluxe Bumblebee is molded in blue plastic (the exact plastic used for his windows) and they have to make the paint extra thick for a few reasons:
1.) A thin coat will mix with the blue plastic and give a green tinge to it. (Blue and yellow make green.)
2.) A thicker coat will have more resistance to chipping, wear, and tear. (Although it leads to being gloppy and messy in spots.)
The Deluxe isn't perfect, but when compared to Ultimate Bumblebee he's definitely the clear winner. Neither one's perfect, but if paint's the only problem keeping one of them from being perfection...that's a price I'm willing to pay to get such a fantastic figure. (if I could find the damn thing...)

Mine is almost perfect. The doors are of a darker yellow than the rest of the car though. But they were all like that where I found him (Wal-Mart). Its not that much darker, but you can see the difference. Minor thing really, as the rest is perfect, the logo, face and all the other details are there and clean. So its really a have/don't have kinda problem. I guess you need to be a little lucky with this one.

Mine's got a good paint job. There is a very small amount of yellow paint that is on the windows. A tiny amount of black paint is at the front of the car.
