Takara Tomy revealed quite the unique item today. It is a display piece consisting of an Optimus Prime statue on a base that can automatically transform from bot to vehicle. It can't be seperated from the base and isn't programable like what Robosen releases, this is not a toy. Instead this is more of an advanced version of the talking and moving coin banks 90s kids are sure to remember.

The full name of this new product is Karakuri Statue KS-01 Convoy and you can see all the available info on Takara's website along with a video right below.

Some Google Translate (keep that in mind):

I hope that we can continue to move forward together with our fans, so that we can transform into “OUR ORIGIN” and connect to even greater power.

Takara Tomy Co., Ltd. Transformers team

The arrow beneath the message will move the webpage down to a wide-view YouTube video regarding the 40th anniversary which, among other things, showcases some bits from G1 cartoon and Beast Wars Neo II -- at least I think it is, never watched the Japan-only series -- along with some announcements for its channel(?) and mentions of anniversary products. I do appreciate the 40th anniversary logo splash animation is comprised of the Decepticon and Autobot insignias taken apart and the pieces used to form "40". Be sure to give it a watch! :)

I think the rest of the web page is some miscellanea stuff but it's hard to tell since Google Translate doesn't do images. :-B

So close. The auto transform is missing a step to hide the front wheels of the truck and to reduce the size of the bumper.
Still, this flaw is a throwback to the G1 toy so...

It will depend on the price and if it can be available locally. I'll not be paying 50$ in shipping to import this.

Nice. Very nice. Seems that it only transforms so the price point will be lower than Robosen's. Also, unlike Robosen's Optimus, he doesn't turn his torso around so it is a cleaner transformation. Will consider.

And that's number 6.

6th G1 Prime being released in 2024 for the 40th anniversary.

I wonder how many will get all 6.

Personally I only plan on getting the two Missing Link figures, probably the retro reissue especially if it uses the Music Label head, and the CC (whatever that ends up looking like). No real interest in the MP-44 repaint and this statue would have to be under $50 for me to bite and I doubt that's going to happen. I also have Lunar Cruiser Prime on order, though that one doesn't really count. I think there was a Deluxe figure planned somewhere, or maybe that was just SS Megatron?

I ordered the trailer-less Missing Link.

And will order CC when its available.

Don't need yet another G1 Prime, now in animated colors. Already have Hasbro's 25th Anniversary with the upgrade kit, and Takara's Encore 01 still in the Box. (opened, but put back)

Don't think I'm going for anything else. Least of all this statue.

Not really thrilled with the rifle just hanging out on the side of the cab in truck mode.

doesn't;t look like an under $50 kind of statue. Moe like an over $150.

I wonder what the over-under on the number of Optimus Primes released this year is?

I'm going to set it at 13.5, though that may be low....

This might be it for the really expensive G1 Primes, wouldn't put it past them doing a special Robosen Prime or something, maybe a cheap(er) one that doesn't transform like the Bumblebee that's currently only in Japan.

Now if we're talking characters named Optimus Prime scheduled for 2024 at any price point there's a few more known.

LU Voyager Animated OP
LU Leader G2 OP
LU Deluxe G1 OP
Level A TF:One Optimus Prime

That's just the ones we know about for sure and already takes us to 10 in the main lines and collector markets alone. Factor in anything else we might be getting from TF:One and Earthspark and other potential exclusives and we could have nearly two dozen Primes released in 2024. 8-}

Do we count HasLab Omega Prime and LU Vector Prime?

Crap. I'm going to kick up the number. Taking bets at 22.5 for the over-under...
