Is that a new toyline exclusive to Takara?

These have been show off at a couple toy shows already. They've said they are going to make more shorts like these to promot the line and are calling it the successor to Binaltech and want to image Transformers more like a "real mecha" type of series.

I love how Ironhide is just a fusion of every version of that character into something new. We need more of that.

Well we just got our first look at Overgear Optimus Prime. I'm liking it so far.

That look bad-ass!

The Takara Tomy Overgear line reimagining Autobots and Decepticons alike as various war machines has revealed its Optimus Prime! While the line isn't based on real vehicles Prime appears to be based on a military trailer truck similar to an Oshkosh 8x8 HET. They're still very early in production but our first look gives us a good idea of what to expect.

Meanwhile pre-orders have opened in Japan on the first two Overgear figures, OG-01 Ironhide and OG-02 Blackout. Each figure comes kitted out with a full arsenal of weapons, all of which they can gear up with in both modes. Ironhide is priced at 17,600 JPY (about $115 USD) and Blackout is priced at 19,800 JPY (about $130 USD), though actual retail prices will vary. Both are due in October.

Man, this line was quickly becoming my favorite thing in current Transformers and I love those designs, but I don't see over a hundred dollars in value here.

That is, unless they are MP scale, or something big like the OLD Generations / Unicron Trilogy.

I'm interested but the prices are all over, and getting a PO has become, involved shall we say?

Totally getting TF:Cybertron vibes from the Optimus mold. I've already ordered the other two. This is the line I've wanted for a while now...more complex, less plain, good detailing, and not just straight old boring copies of the animation models. I'm a HUGE fan of all the litte details, the mechanical appearance...if this had been what the Bay movies had been I think there would have been a little less whining (let's be real, there would still be whining because that's what Geewun fans do). I DID enjoy the complexity of the Bayverse characters' appearances...they weren't bland, flat, and dull like the old animation models were. They were ALIEN, which is perfect because they ARE alien. This Overgear line though takes that concept and tweaks it just that bit more to something that will very likely give me major cramps in my wallet...

Overgear is like a dream line for me, I love it a lot. I need to know how big these guys are though.

I believe they are Masterpiece sized.

Well, they're certainly priced like MPs. I haven't been able to get a good measurement off Japanese sites, but BBTS says Ironhide is 7.2" and Blackout is 7.3" so I guess we'll assume that's correct. That makes him the same size as the upcoming MPG Hot Rod G Style if the numbers are accurate.

I happened upon a shot video. Looks like they are indeed MP sized, but I would have preferred cheaper standard Generations scale toys of the same designs. At over 200$ a pop, I'll be skipping these.
