Question about Ironhide (Movie Voyager)

Hey all! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I picked up Ironhide on a whim today. But I've been hearing some negative things about the movie figures. Speficaly Bumblebee ('74 edition) amd Blackout. Weak tabs and stress marks and the like. Any problems like that with Ironhide? I hope not. I like to keep some on my desk at work and fiddle with them when I'm thinking or what not. So I end up transforming them quite a bit.

Thanks for any help, guys.

haven't experienced it myself, but from what i've read, be careful with the automorph in the legs since it involves multiple pieces

just be careful with the feet. if you do it too hard u'll rip the plastic gears and ruin the gimmick. Gentle smooth motion.

1 - He's missing paint. A LOT of it.
2 - His weapons aren't movie-accurate. Rather than focus on accuracy, they gave them some really lame firing gimmick that totally sucks. Even the FAB version has better weapons than this guy. (His mirrors, wheels, and smokestacks are also not accurate, nor are they painted)
3 - All of his joints are tight, except for four which matter the most: the knee hinges and the knee swivels.
4 - His automorph is the best of the line so far, but it comes at a great price. Due to this gimmick, he has no ankle joints. The sacrifice was NOT worth it; he really would have benefited from ankle joints.
5 - The automorph sometimes displays much resistance when trying to convert him back into a truck, which sucks because it feels like it's going to break.

He looks great in Robot mode, but he is just too damn dark. a little lighter gray to highlight certain sections would have been great.
I agree his weapon is kind of strange, and can only fire when combined which is pointless.

His light piping doesn't really work unless you hold a really bright light source to the back of his head. So its hard to get his eyes to shine like they should.

For more on Ironhide, take a look at this tread:

IRONHIDE SUCKS!!!

And know he doesn't really suck. He has some flaws.

I think there's something wrong with mine.

The blue part between the torso and legs is too short to reach the pegs to lock in. It feels like the only way to get it in the pegs is to break the blue part.

I agree with all points bar #4. '08 Bumblebee has the best Automorph/s.

Still, Ironhide is easily worth buying, he is a great figure, even with all his flaws, which is a rarity in this day and age.
Really wish I could paint, he would look pretty good with a nice silver wash on him.

I like Ironhide, I really do. I only have 2 TFs so far, but he is definitely worth buying despite his flaws. The only real problem I've had with him (despite the difficult first transform) is keeping him balanced. His feet don't really stay flat and if you have his guns combined to make the launcher it throws his balance off.

But all and all, IMO, he was well worth and more his $19.99 price tag.

Now Starscream on the other hand, I wouldn't accept that fig if it was a gift.

Does anyone know if IH and SS are the first wave of Voyager figs? I'm wondering if I've missed out on Ratchet and Blackout (I think) or if they've passed me by.

I have to agree with most of those complaints, especially the delicate nature of the automorph feature, but I still really like the figure for some reason. Maybe it's because they're not cheap and I don't have money to throw around, so I'd better appreciate what I buy. The weapons don't look that accurate but if you look at them real close, the right arm gun does have the little missles surrounding the barrel, and the left arm gun does have the larger sized barrel like in the movie. The detail is there, you just shouldn't have to look that hard. And, as afore mentioned, the lame-o gimmick downplays those details. He's also really thin in robot mode compared to the movie. Also I think he has reversed knees in the movie and in the game, like Starscream has, but the figure has regular back bending knees. Over all he's fun to transform, nice and complicated, and I love how the hood splits and flips up, very cool. He's also got a really sturdy vehicle mode and it's practically seamless except for the undercarriage.

Ironhide is a blast to transform, but I find it difficult to pose him in robot mode, and to keep him standing.

Mine is fine but my friend's has a loose waist and he tends to fall over a lot unless you pose him in an action pose which makes up for that.

On mine his knees are loose. All other joints are tight.
This sucks because due to the size of his legs and his lack of ankle joints, the knees are VERY important when posing him.

Thanks for the info. Damn, I have not seen a single Ratchet and Blackout, but tons of Ironhides and Starscreams. Maybe Target will have some next week.

Here's to hoping...
