I HATE ALTERNATORS!!!

Really, I do! I got Grimlock when he first came out. Transforming him is NO fun at all! Getting his big head through that smal opening is a nightmare, and putting him back in Mustang form if so meticulous, it's a headache. Today I got Alt Sunstreaker who is supposed to be one of the "easier" ones from Hasbro Toy Shop.com. HE SUCKS TOO! Though not as much as Alt Grimmy. Parts do not allign right straight from the box. His chest area is a mess. What is it with these things? It's like they only look decent in car mode. I was going to get Jaguar Ravage, but forget it. I like a challenge, but I do NOT like frustration. Don't even get me started on Hasblo's so-called instructions. They can shove those bent arrows where the sun don't shine. Argh!

It would be a moot point since they are discontinued. I'm glad they are.

well, i'm sure the feelings are mutual, and alternators hate you too.
personally, i love them. my favorite line. i think some movie transformations are harder than any alt.
but whatever. to each their own

I almost bought that one instead. I chose Sunstreaker because he was my first TF, and I liked the way the Alt Sunstreaker looked. I've seen Hound transformed on YouTube, and he doesn't look as PIA to change.

Out of all the alternators, the Grimlock/Wheeljack mold is the only one that gives me a little trouble when I'm transforming it. Mostly because I don't fiddle with my alts that often, so I usually forget exactly how the arms fold up on the Mustang mold.

Personally I like TFs that I can transform with a minute or two.
However, I do like the Alternators and their complexity.
Variety is good. Some TFs (g1, beast wars) are easier to transform and still look good. Alts look good in both modes, but thake more time. I'm proud to have a variety of Transformers in my collection, from basic legends up to Masterpiece.

For me, the more complicated, the better. MP Megatron is my current favorite, followed by MP Starscream. Compared to them, the Alt range is a breeze. BTW, the Grimlock/Wheeljack mold may be tricky, but the Skids/Broadblast is even trickier. Those who have problems with the Alt toys should indeed stick to the Fast Action Battlers range, or the even the fast food Transformers lines.

I have 5 of them and the only one worth a crap is Ricochet. I can't resist a sale and got Prime and Nemesis Prime first.
Meh, not a fan.

It's not that I can't transform him, it's that things just don't line-up well unless you fickle with it for a while. It's the quality that bugs me. Pieces are not made as well as they should be. Grimlock is a pain though. Sunstreaker isn't hard, just annoying with pieces that don't line up right at first...second..third try.
I think I may get the Jeep one, and the Subaru. I heard those are good. We'll see. They all look good though. Ain't no denying that.

Quality isn't the issue, Alternators are very high quality. The reason the parts don't line up right away is because they are very complicated toys with lots of moving parts and sometimes it's just going to take a bit of fiddling to get things to go where they need to.
Unfortunately you started with the most difficult Alternator there is, Grimlock. The easiest ones are Windcgarger/Decepticharge, Meister (Jazz)/Shockwave, Optimus Prime/Nemesis Prime, Ravage, and Rumble.

Personally I love the complexity to the Alternators. I admit that some like Skids are REALLY complex, but for the most part they have enjoyable. I wish the line would continue with NEW MOLDS (too many repaints). The Jeep mold is my fav by far, I wish they would do a Alternator/BT line for Military stuff like they said they "might" at one point long ago.

On the subject of Alternators, anybody got pics
of a Barricade Alternator or Binaltech custom?
I just picked that up at Kmart on sale today.
This guy needs to be bigger and an Alternator
would be awesome.

Since Barricade is a Mustang, imagine a Grimlock painted black with his wings glued to his arms

Best kept MISB which is what I did with them! The Alts were the ones that were displayed in the end. Doubles of course since I have both lines complete MISB.

I loves me some alternator goodness.
They're not a bother to transform, they're a DELIGHT.

Alts and BTs are awesome. They feature realistic, licenced vehicles that turn into some natty looking robots.
Grimlock is probably the most complicated of the lot, it has to be said. I have had more trouble with him and Wheeljack than any of the others but the Mustang in robot mode is a work of art.
I love the technical aspect of them and the fact that they are complicated and fragile makes them something special. I take my hat off to the clever boys and girls that put these things together.

Yeah, Rumble even
looks easy. And I once transformed my brother's Jazz without any instructions.
