Ah, if only there were a Leader Protoform Prime

I know it might sound stupid, but hear me out. The normal leader Prime doesn't have many gimmicks or 'play value'. He's got a flip-out blaster and railgun, and 2 automorphs, one of them electric. That's pretty low for recent Transformer flagship toys (unlike energon and cybertron, pretty much gimmick loaded), which is impressive. But why not have a leader class figure of the Cybertronian Optimus Prime, the form which made him truly alien to Earth? with so little gimmicks, he could make a great collector's item.

Sure, the deluxe version is great already, but I can dream, can't I?

I wouldn't be interested. I think the protoforms are pretty pointless.

I love the idea, I think that the protoforms are cool, and for once we get to have them made as toys, i will however ask that the wheels in comet mode be removed..

I agree about Leader Prime, there should have been some additions to the mold.. especially the energon blade which he used to make Bonecrusher his biotch!!!

There is a Leader class protoform already. Megatron

Yeah but I don't like Megatron (the figure I mean, the character rules). I like Prime.

One thing I liked about this universe is the emphasis on the Transformers' alien race and their ability to blend into the Earth's society... but when they come out and transform, their true form is revealed.

True form? Not completely. Prime's Protoform IS his home form. It is the form he used while wandering around Cybertron. With such an otherworldly look I really like the character more, because he's less anthropomorphized, in a sense. You evne have to look twice to recognize the homages to 'truck' Prime, and I find that cool.

Now the only catch I see with making a Leader Protoform Prime is the vehicle mode. They better make the comet form look good, or it's going to make a terrible vehicle mode.

The figure itself doesn't suck, the paint and casted plastic colors absolutely suck somthing fierce.

Yeah so if I get it I have to be willing to repaint/modify it. Just like I did with Ratchet :D

And by contrast Protoform Prime's figure and paint ob, to me are superb, but when I look at Megatron... blargh

He might be slightly more advanced than Prime/Starscream.

but come on a comet mode is pretty cool though.

BUT - Prime transforming into a spacecraft of some sort would kick arse as well.

The protos were hardly in the film. They were not even a proper sub-plot of any sort. I would support a leader Blackout before anything else.

He'd have to be a triple changer.

I like Proto-Prime. He's well detailed and has great articulation. But a big giant silver bus won't cut it alone on a Leader sized toy.

Give hime a gimmick loaded robot mode(I agree Leader prime could be so much more, I like him though).

The space travel mode, put some guns on it maybe. Maybe some break away parts that could form something trailerish, that deluxe bots could also use as armerments.

Then a alt mode to carry that load and fly some bots into galactic battles, maybe a space jetski with a trailer :-?

I'm not kidding, I think it would be real cool. Kinda like how Energon Prime came with all those parts, just make them work with more than just him, but of course in a new type of design.

Kinda makes me wish I knew about making this stuff. The idea is real cool in my head!

Few theories:
1: Megatron didnt care if he was seen, and if he was, it wouldnt matter, he was going to obliterate the planet once he had the cube anyway.
2: He didnt feel that he, Megatron needed too
3: His alt mode allows his Space flight, thus no need for comet mode like the other transformers.

Anywho, I wouldn't touch a Leader Class Protoform Prime with a 20 foot barge pole.
I'd prefer to spend the $80 on buying a large piece of Bush Rock... it's the same thing.

That sounds so awesome I'm going to take a cold shower. Seriously. Guys I know it's hard to imagine Prime without the red/blue truck mold, but to be honest, it seems in this universe that the grey, almost organic look of Protoform Prime is his original Cybertronian aesthetic. I would at least give him a chance.

I agree there would have to be WAY more play value for the toy to even get a second glance though. (Not me. I'd buy it straight away)

i think your putting too much significance on it being 'primes original form' For me i know it wouldn't have that sort of importance in my collection - its just another prime variant.

for me at least primes original form is orion pax

But since I'm collecting mainly toys from the movie continuity, isn't Prime's original form pretty important? And one thing for me is that he doesn't look fugly at all so that counts for a lot.
