Ok, so I Decided to do them all, since the Armada, Energon, and Cybertron series is actually a trilogy, I figure I'm pulling a George lucas here and going back to the beginning after starting in the Middle..But for those of you who haven't read it yet, I placed a link to the Energon reviews and discussion section and I'll be adding a Link there to this thread. Then I'll add a link to both and to a Cybertron thread, once I get around to it..these really take a lot of time to produce considering my work schedule of late.. anyways..

Now lets get to the flagship of the Armada Series..I'm trying to remain positive..I did however find a redeemable quality about the Leader Class Armada Prime Design, so I don't hate it as much as I used to but I have to point out that the Leader Class Prime toy, on it's own, is still not up to parr, unless combined with another Bot. But this was the first Transformer in years that I bought and that was due to the hype surrounding the self transforming trailer, which is not all that great, but as far as gimmicks go and hype surrounding it.. it was nice at the time.. Keep this in mind though..

I'm trying to remain positive..

Let us start with the Altmode..
Image
He has a trailer that reminds us of the Original semi truck, and yeah there was a certain amount of Nostalgia that surrounded him, and not because of the gimmicks, but rather because of the fact that this was the first time he would be returning as Semi truck and trailer combo since the end of G-1..
Image

So I said it before, and I'll say it again, my problems with this guy was only in the Supermode/combiner department, the actual bot was pretty decent, though I prefered "Bendy Prime" this one still has it's qualities about him..
Image

Voyager Movie prime wasn't the first to have a truck Backpack?? :-? :???:
Image
Image

Gripe No.1
WTF is that supposed to be!!??? a Matrix or the sensor array for the Starship Enterprise!!
Image

Prime's trailer becomes a "Playground" for Minicons..what a great Baby sitting tool, But its missing the Monkey Bars!!
Image

Image
Nevermind I found the Monkey Bars.. Hee Hee
Image

Money Shot!!
Image

The Bot and Trailer combine and then form,
SUPER PRIME!!!
Image
Awesome design... Wait a minute.. what do I see here...??
Image
Holy Crap!!! What the Hell is that??
Gripe No. 2 Giant freaking whole in the back..
Image
Is he broken, he looks like he's missing something...well I suppose that gets taken care of later..
Image
Image
Well he's great from the front and at angles..and he does have the animation feel to him, he's even a very simplistic design compared to previous incarnations..very "clean" in the Regular Botmode..
Image

Optimus Prime can combine with Jetfire and looks like this..which granted some people like, but for me I just think he's better off without Jetfire's legs..
Image
Image
trust me there isn't much articulation in the leg region, so his arms and head move, but the legs on him really don't at all.. it's okay to look at, but it reminds me of Bell bottom pants from the 1970s..
Image

Now!! you could also combine overload and have a cool jetfire/overload combo.. though to me it still looks like crap..the colors and design elements of jetfire just don't match up to the sleakness of Prime's truck chest..
Image
Image
Image
Image

After having owned this toy and reviewing the combos I have seen thus far, I gotta say that this is the only redemption for Super Prime that I asthetically find pleasing.."Super Pants!!"
Image
Image
Image

wow!! The Back pack does serve a purpose, I finally understand!!!
Image
Image
Image
not too much of a Gaping whole now..
Image

then you could always get Ultra Magnus from Energon and combine him for a more "color pleasing" version in Blues.. it's kind of a Superman thing, you have an almost all red version, Blue , or the classic costume, err... classic version.. :D
Image
Image
I personally like the blue, but to each their own..
Image
Money Shot!!
Image

Now there was a repaint called Powerlink Optimus Prime, which may or may not have been a great color choice..it's up to you...
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Geez!! Beasties!!! What's happened to his head?? It's on backwards..!!

Image

Technically you could switch trailers with the Armada and Powerlinks version and come up with an almost completely Red Optimus Prime..Nice!!
Image
Image

Overall, and I hate to say it.. I have to go with the Superpants version..I would prefer that to the jetfire combo. But If you decide to get Prime it might also be good to get Overload or Ultra Magnus repaint from the Energon series to use as a huge weapons array on top of his shoulders, which can also hide that pesky whole in his back and behind his head..

I do have to say, though not a fan of Brick formers, His combined Superpants mode does have a cool look to it, and with the Overload/Magnus backpack, it really kinda works as to why his legs are stationary and don't move..considering the weight and all. For me it is important to have leg movement, I was initially against this version of Prime because he had none in Supermode.

I think this bot has had a redemption of sorts, but I still think that without the self transforming trailer, which I might add didn't always transform very well by itself and still required help sometimes.. If only they had done without the gimmick and went with lights and sounds over mechanics, that would have been nice.. then they could of worked in articulation..but they didn't...

So to find the good in anything is a mark of true enlightenment, so I am more in tuned with the toy's design now then I was previously.. I still think that there are issues, but its minor enough to overlook, especially with the additional combiner qualities of Overload and Magnus..

:)

I like it better than the Energon Prime, but still not worthy of my collection.

G1 Prime, RID Prime, Armada "bendy" Prime, Cybertron Prime, 20th anniv Prime, Leader and robovision movie Prime, even Alt Prime, WST Prime and Legends movie Prime are in my collection but I have no interest in Armada or Energon prime.

If you're a pro, you buy it four or more times:
Image

Skywarp2, most of your 'reviews' have been pretty balanced. Your bias here really shows through as you don't go to any lengths to discuss the positives of the figure.

You could always start off wit explaining how this is a modern version of Star Convoy, or how innovative the remote transforming mechanism is, or that Prime combines with Overload and Jetfire in both bot and alt modes.

I was trying to be positive in my reviews of this particular toy, I even placed a disclaimer in there.. just for your sake too!! Everyone here knows the passion you hold for this particular version of Prime, so if I offended your love of this guy, it certainly was not my intention, but there were some seriously negative things about him.

But your right I could have Mentioned the Starconvoy connection.. but how many people really remember that toy?? Besides, nostalgia aside, this Super Optimus Prime is 3 million times a better "Brickformer" then Starconvoy could ever be..

I did find a light at the end of the tunnel for this guy, and that is the Ultra Magnus/Super Pants combo...Bare with me, I'm slowing warming "back" up to him, but it takes time after seeing what I have seen from RID/Car Robots, and Cybertron series..I do have one question though, where did the green and yellow one to the left come from?? Also what combos in Altmode do you speak of??

Well, whether you remember him, or not, others may. Especially since Star Convoy was re-released only a couple years ago. And it is a positive.

However, it was simply advice from CP, you don't have to take it, as you mentioned, but if you did, you would get some G1-ers interested a whole lot more in listening.

Especially if Jetfire is your Sky Garry and Overload is your Grandus, so to speak. Then you have the whole Battlestars team.

"Return of Convoy" indeed...

got him

I really like this Prime. Not keen on the super mode so much but I like his standard bot and alt.modes.

Who or what is Bendy Prime?

He's not all that bad. Yes the Sel;f Transforming gimmick, is less than stellar, and could have been replaced with standard lights and sounds, and the given Super Pants Prime more articulation. But he was my Second Prime after R.I.D prime, and I like the big guy. He's a brick yes. but he still has a special place in my collection

Bendy Prime: The Deluxe sized Version of Armada Optmus Prime, and recolored several different times, last of which was Cyberron Deluxe Optimus Prime. He's poseable and ... bendy hence the name.

BEHOLD!!!! Bendy Prime:

Little inaccurate on the bit about him being the first Prime semi with trailer since G1 I'm affraid Skywarp 2. There were 2 in G2 and the Thunderclash retool in MW in between. Pretty balanced review overall, especially since I seem to remember you knocking him quite heavily a while back. If I'm mistaken on this then apologies.

Someone asked about the yellow Prime/Magnus repaint from Counterpunch's pic. This was a Costco exclusive 2 pack released during Energon and is in my opinion a really nice colour scheme that helps tie the two together in combined mode. I picked up from the forums at the time of the sets release and have become quite taken with using since his fan name of Waspinator Prime.

Delux Prime...a variant collector's nightmare (or 1st love, I dunno...).

The original release has at least three variations with combinations of the following:

Yellow vs silver lights
Clean vs dirty truck grill
Autobot symbol, lacking or having

The Cybertron release has a variation that came out early in the production run where he has no Planet Key symbols.

Nemesis Prime has a noticalbe variation from Micron Legends (though less severe than any of the other changes)

Lest we forget the nightmare with the incorrectly installed arm guards. Was it Magnus, Nemesis, and i believe one of the secondary waves of the original color scheme?

Magnus.

and it's not that bad of a fix to do.

A small screw driver and 10 minutes of patience and you're done.
