Which toys contain a base platform of some kind?

E.g. Energon Prime. He pretty much gets a mobile assault base mode. So does Machine Wars Prime. Anyone else?

No, I mean the real Mertroplex.

With the excpetion of Unicron, and Primus, this is a G1, G2 list as I dislike most of Armada, Energon and Cybertron.

I included RID Scourge and Metrotitan as they were repaints of G1/G2 figures, but have anough exposure to be considered a seperate character.

Hey Bonger, this doesn't have much to do with the topic, but if you don't mind me asking, do you think this new movie line is any good? BECAUSE - it seems to me that Armada, Energon and Cybertron were loaded with all sorts of quirky gimmicks and stuff to play with eg. minicons, energon weapons, planet keys. This is only my general impression; I only have Galaxy Force Vector Prime, and the 2007 redecos and Skyblast, Arcee and signal Flare.

Now the movie line seems to be returning to the old days of just one or two gimmicks. Even Leader Prime only has 2 gimmicks, Bumblebee 08 is hailed as the best movie figure yet he doesnt evne have a projectile, etc. If you do like the movie line, more than the Armada/Energon/Cybertron line, what are your reasons?

The reason I ask this is that my intuition tells me that my Protoform Prime + Leader Prime are the best toys I'll get in a long time, while the child in me is begging me to get at least some more Cybertron toys. ;)

Isn't the topic about Transformers who came with bases, not transformed into one?

Raymond, I was actually quite shocked to find that I do like the Movie line. I think this is the best they have done with TFs, as a line, since Car Robots, which was mostly just a mish mash of lines anyway.

I don't neceasarily feel that the number of gimmicks is the detractor. It is what is sacrificed to make the gimmicks possible. Every hand given up for a built in blaster is, imo, too much of a sacrifice. Look at the Armada Prime review Sywarp just did. You can see the sacrifices made to make althe combinations possible very clearly there. The side shot of Prime is just an abomination.

Then again, it may just be that I like these as the toys actually have personalities that I am familiar with due to watching the movie. Whereas with Armada, Cybertron and Energon, the shaky toy lines were supported by a very weak cartoon.

I take it you have just gotten into collecting with the movie line. I assume you originally got into TFs via G1?

Yeah, I have just gotten into collecting toys from the movie line (although I do have Vector Prime), but I didn't get into TFs via G1. I've seen the cartoons, but my first exposure was to Beast Wars. I enjoyed beast Wars and then passed over Machine wars (although I do want to get Megatron just because he's so pathetic in that line) and the final straw for me was buying Mega Cheetor from Beast Machines. Horrible, horrible toy.

I saw Cybertron Primus, Vector Prime and all the other Cybertron toys i ntheir heyday in Hong Kong TRU but I wasn't interested back then. since the movie I really remember how much fun Beast Wars was and to my delight, this movie line's pretty awesome too.

But i have to say the gimmicks from the past 3 lines looked quite fun. I'm an easy person to please.

Well I'm sorry. I'll open a new thread about this then.

Even though this may have already been derailed, I'll throw some more out there that have yet to be mentioned.

Overlord
Sky Garry
Grandus
Big Powered (Dia Atlas[already mentioned], Roadfire, and sonic Bomber)
Star Saber(not a playset but he rides the platform)
All of the MM playsets

All mentioned are G1.

Bumping cause I'm curious, and Bonger listed it as having a base/platform mode.

I do not think of his planet mode as a base mode, but I can see how it'd be interpreted as such.

By the way, in your motto, it should be 'there' not 'their'.

Crap, for like three years I've had a grammatical error in my motto, and I never noticed it. Oh well, thanks for the heads up, I'll go change it now.
